Steve is a best-selling and award-winning writer who specializes in horror, thrillers, suspense, serial killers, escaped mental patients, things that go bump in the night, ghosts, spirits, zombies, vampires, blood, guts, maniacs, monsters, murder and mayhem!
Steve is considered one of the most prolific writers in the world, with a wide range of works, including multiple interconnected series and his short horror story anthologies.
He's also one of the few authors who narrates all of his audiobooks himself.
Additionally, Steve founded the Maniac on the Loose Scary Stories Podcast, delivering a weekly dose of terrifying tales he writes and narrates.
He also founded Big Biting Pig Productions, a movie production company known for unpredictable storytelling and for producing multiple award-winning, feature-length horror films with virtually no budget.
This volume of Horror Quickies contains over 15 horror short stories, told in Hudgins’ trademark first-person true story style. It’s another serving of twisted tales featuring dangerous creatures, haunted objects, cold-blooded murderers, otherworldly drug trips, maniacs making phone calls, exclusive but shady clubs, and much more.
Each volume typically packs diverse tales that cater to different tastes within horror subgenres. This collection would particularly please fans of scary dolls/puppets (Creepy Doll, Mr. Monkey & The Man) and (urban) legends (The Sewer Man, The Willow Grove Ghost).
Additionally, there are several tales that feature encounters with mysterious and dangerous individuals and groups of people with terrifying secrets (Strange Vacation, Club Fun, The DVD, The House Down the Block). These stories are full of tension, and Club Fun is particularly exciting for fans of the Ski Mask Saga.
A great standout in this particular volume is Killer Coffee, which features multiple perspectives, humor, and a dangerous love triangle with a twist.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Steve Hudgins has once again put together another set of fun, quick, scary reads in his unique distinctive style. None of these stories will require a major time commitment as the entire book to just over an hour for me to complete. That’s one of the many things I enjoy so well about Steve’s titles and this one was another great entry. If you are looking for something quick to fill you with the creeps, give these a shot.
This author definitely has the great combination of Peter Straub and Stephen King, but with his own demented twist. I really enjoyed the stories that took place outside, a little more suspenseful for me personally. This is a novel not to be read at night by yourself in an empty house, jumping at every noise heard. Is your house really ever completely empty?
I like Horror Quickies Vol. 1, but this one is better. Some of the stories in Vol. 1 were very short. The stories in this one are a little longer, but still short enough to be called a short story (quickie.) What's in the Box, Haunted Mirror, Killer Coffee and Willow Grove Ghost are the best of the batch.
This second volume by Steve Hudgins was a treat. Each story was absorbing. Most of them are the stuff of nightmares. He is one of my favourite authors and I recommend this volume of bizarre tales
I thought it would be longer but I liked it. What I like about his stories are the what ifs. Took me 4 hours to read. Could not put it down. 5 anthologies out of 5
