“I’m not a fan of transsexuals Romero, so if you don’t mind let’s cut the small talk,” detective Meyers now told Miriam in his matter of fact voice, “Simon told me that you were asking him to check up on Tony Faderelli, so what I want to know is why?”
The waitress appeared and Miriam ordered another soda water, “What about you?” Miriam then asked the detective.
“Nothing for me thanks, I’m on duty and I’m choosey about who I drink with,” detective Meyers said rudely.
“Okay, just the soda water then,” Miriam smiled at the waitress who smiled back and then scowled at the seated detective before heading back to fulfil the order.
“Another one of your converts?” the detective asked as he watched the waitress saunter of to get the drink.
“No, she’s a normal person,” Miriam said to him as she tried to hide her distaste that she was developing for this detective. He was like the rest of them which had been the reason for him leaving the police force in Philadelphia.
