Antonio Huntsman was the prince in every childhood daydream–or so I thought.
Now, I know better. He’s powerful and wealthy, but he’s no prince.

He’s a ruthless monster who thinks he can have everything he wants.
My vineyards.
My obedience.
My secrets.
Me.

He thinks I’ll marry him just because my father made a deathbed deal.

He thinks I’ll surrender to the temptation he offers so freely.

But I won’t play his games – regardless of how seductive he makes them.
I have too much to lose.

A dangerous billionaire and a young heiress play a high-stakes game, where nothing is as it appears. GREED is a delicious new romantic suspense novel by Eva Charles, with twists and turns you won't see coming! It's the first book in A Sinful Empire Trilogy. Forbidden fruit has never been sweeter…

Things that made me not like this book as much as I should have.

1. The hero (Antonio) was super soft and forgiving and showed zero signs of ever turning into a toxic person, therefore, he failed to appeal to my senses.

2. The forced marriage didn’t really feel forced to me, it doesn’t count as a forced marriage in my book unless the hero has to drag the heroine to the altar, kicking and screaming. 🧚🏻‍♀️

3. I’ve probably said this in my one of my reviews before
but I do NOT like a hero that promises pain but never delivers or IF he delivers, the punishment entails giving the heroine several orgasm after whipping her beautiful, round ass. Which was the case with Antonio, I mean if you’re going to really go to the trouble of asserting your (nonexistent) dominance and ruthlessness try not to drop all your pretenses of being menacing and domineering and fuck the heroine two seconds after whipping her like an overly excited schoolboy.

This started out strong but halfway through the book it started dragging and the characters and plot became really dreary and monotonous. The writing was really good and engaging, the chapters were short and sweet. However, Eva Charles probably falls into the category of ’safe authors’ because her characters lack the level of 🧚🏻‍♀️toxicity🧚🏻‍♀️ required to keep the book entertaining for me and to keep me appeased. 😀😀

Many thanks to the the author for providing me with an ARC.

4 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Our fate—yours and mine—is entwined for eternity. For now, you’re safe, Princesa. But when I come back, it’ll be for more than a kiss.”

Greed is the first installment in the Sinful Empire trilogy—a sizzling billionaire mafia romance with an arranged marriage signed in blood whose victim is a runaway mafia princess who lost everything.

— Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance
— Arranged Marriage
— A soft yet resilient FMC
— Alpha billionaire MMC with a dirty mouth
— Slowburn (but not that slow)
— Opposites attract
— Spice level: 3.5/5
— Sexual exploration
— Morally questionable characters
— Portuguese Mafia Families
— Action and suspense

The book opens with Antonio's POV 6 years prior to the main events and I was gripped from the very first page. I felt the tension and the dread as Antonio's fate was sealed sooner than he thought when Manuel D'Sousa's final moment had finally come.

“After I’m gone, Quinta Rosa do Vale will be yours. In exchange, you will marry my daughter. You will protect her from my enemies and yours—with your life, if necessary.”

Antonio and Manuel have signed a contract in blood to acquire Quinta Rosa do Vale, D'Sousa's valuable vineyards, and to marry his only daughter, Daniela D'Sousa.

Daniela was left with the burden of carrying a glorified legacy, but with so many enemies around her she had no choice but run away and leave behind her home Porto, the vineyards, and her family's legacy.

But even for six years as she kept to a private and simple life in the U.S. with her maid Isabel and her daughter, Antonio Huntsman shadow had never left her and it was time for Antonio to bring home his bride and fulfill the blood oath.

Antonio Huntsman is danger wrapped in a handsome package, with masculine ridges and angles along a powerful frame. Underneath, barely concealed by the refined wrapping, is the worst kind of danger. I know it. I know it in my marrow. I know it in every cell of my being. Yet some element of that danger is attractive.

Despite being her father's rival/enemy, Daniela have always been drawn to Antonio's dangerous aura, but that girl had shed her former self and the lavish lifestyle she had lived the moment her father died.

When Antonio returns Daniela to Porto by force he doesn't see the girl he remembers, she is hollow, desperate, and terrified for the well-being of her loved ones.

Any sparks Daniela had felt for Antonio died the moment she saw him for the first time in six years—he is no longer the attractive yet dangerous Antonio whom she had daydreamed about... he is nothing but a cruel and cunning man who probably wants nothing but to own her family's vineyards.

What if she knew beneath all that cunningness and cruelty is man who yearns for her as much?

“I am. Here’s a little piece of advice for you, Princesa. Don’t poke monsters. Because we’ll devour you without a shred of mercy—and toss your bones into the gutter.”

The couple won me over by the end of the book, the main reason I deducted a star was because of Antonio's borderline toxic masculinity (I mean he takes being alpha very seriously) and some of his questionable actions and words. Maybe because I'm quite defensive of Daniela, she's such a quiet and vulnerable soul with her own unique strength. She is so resilient and selfless and it makes my heart hurt for her.

The chemistry between is hot and captivating and the spice is off the charts.

I can't wait to see where this story is heading because that cliffhanger had me by the THROAT.

Trigger Warnings: violence, death, dubious consent, slut shaming, sexual assault, graphic adult scenes. Note that the book gets darker in book 2 as it tackles a topic that could be triggering to some readers (the author drops a note at the beginning of each book).

This is my first book by Eva Charles and it definitely won’t be my last!
This story was gripping from the novella and it kept on coming with Greed! Antonio has made a blood pact with Daniela’s father on his death bed. He is to protect her and marry her and take over the vineyards. But Daniela has plans and she is sacrificing everything and everyone to make sure she disappears. With Isabel and Jorge, and their daughter Valentina, they escape to the US. Six years later Daniela returns, only to find things terribly deceptive and life altering.
This story took me on a journey of the old ways, marriage pacts, and male dominance. Greed was bitterly sad at times, but hopeful at other times, but always captivating.

A Vineyard full of tender grapes, bursting with flavours and it's rightful owner, a nubile young Girl bursting with passion.these are the two main characters for which the entire Porto mafia is fighting.
Antonio Huntsman is the clear winner cause he's the chosen one by Daniela D'Sousa's father on his deathbed.
He wants Antonio to takeover the vine business and marry Daniella.
The story has the usual suspects and quintessential emotions. Betrayals, lies, secrets all form a convoluted plot which opens one layer at a time.
Antonio's true self is exposed hiding beneath the cold gruff exterior. That of a tender hearted, gentle lover of all things Daniela.
She's strong, defiant and very much capable of taking care of herself and those she treasures. But she can't protect her heart from Antonio's larger than life personality that looms large over her existence.
I was impressed with Eva's writing, it was my first book by her. Clearly she knows what she's writing about.
A promising start to a much complicated and Tangled series for sure

I’ve been on a mafia / underworld / gangster / etc kick for a while now and one of the things to come out of that is me rolling my eyes every time I see forced marriage or kidnapped bride or some other similar theme as part of this trope because it is almost always the way of these stories and for the love of all that is holy, can we figure out another way??? This trilogy has that plot-point, sort of, but not really LOL I almost skipped out on reading this because of it, but I am so ridiculously glad that I did not. Eva Charles impressed the heck out of me with her The Devil’s Due series a few years ago and after reading Greed I know that this trilogy will impress me just as much if not more!

There isn’t a whole lot about the journey that I can share with you right now because if I did, why would you bother reading the book lol But I can tell you that this promises to be exciting and thrilling. I can tell you that not only do Daniela & Antonio have chemistry, but the storyline has spark as well. It’s a seductive story that will grab you from the beginning, sexy and addictive. You do not want to miss out on this ride! #trust

Greed is the first book in the Sinful Empire Trilogy. Wine Princesa Daniela D’Sousa is hiding a big secret and after her father’s death runs off to the US with her maid Isabel and Isabel’s husband Jorge and daughter, Valentina to keep them and herself safe.
Daniela’s biggest fears are from her family’s rivals, the Huntsmans and in particular Antonio Huntsman.

“You shouldn’t trust me. I’m everything you believe me to be. Probably worse.”

Antonio Huntsman is ruthless… in his business and personal life. He can’t afford to let any weaknesses show if he wants to stay on top and in charge.

“He’s dangerous, common sense whispers. He’s dangerous.
But I’m paralyzed. Helpless to save myself. I don’t even try.
I don’t want to be saved.”

Greed is fast paced, fast moving and had me on the edge of my seat. Antonio is a mega alpha and hot, hot, HOT! Big warning… this story is book one of a trilogy and ends on a major cliffy, but SO worth it and I CANNOT wait for the next book!!!

Eva Charles just showed me in Greed that dark arranged marriage romance can still blow my mind away if it's written well. This is a trope that I have been obsessed with and I thought nothing can make me feel any more obsessed. But then Antonio and Daniela came and turned my world upside down. The best kind of antihero beauty. The best kind of fierceness in a heroine. The brilliant combination of sin, secrets and heartbreak. I am addicted to the writing of Eva Charles for sure.

When Manuel D’Sousa, the owner of Quinta Rosa do Vale and one of the kings of Porto is in his deathbed, he made a deal with Antonio Huntsman, another king and business rival. He can have Manuel's vineyard if he marries Manuel's daughter Daniela who is only 18 years old. Antonio is the one feared and respected by everyone and he needs this last pawn. But after his father's death, Daniela escapes to USA without knowing anything about this deal and six years later, Antonio has decided that he has given her enough freedom. So he lures her back and now she is under his control. But Daniela won't stop fighting. Enemies are coming closer and Daniela has too much to lose.

Antonio Huntsman. Holy alpha-h0le perfection! Somebody please hold me while I recover from the effect. He is just the epic kind of antihero who makes me shiver and melt and feel crazy for his over the top arrogant dominating bossy ways. I can spend hours just reading how calm and ruthless and regal he is while doing business and pleasure. He is in control of the empire and he shows it at every step. Dangerous. Dark. Deviant. Controlling. Possessive. He is the monster who can either keep you safe from everything or tear you apart or both at the the same time.

I admire Daniela's grit and resilience. She has been left alone in this world and she struggled to the extremes to keep herself free. She is the fierce queen who is making Antonio lose control. She is stubborn and reckless and she defies Antonio and infuriates him. Hate is the best foreplay and the chemistry between them is super sizzling hot. Something so forceful and powerful that cannot be denied. They are both in this game where death and deception are close. The twists were jaw dropping and that last sentence? Kill me now!

Greed by Eva Charles was explosive and sinful with extremes of emotion and passion. It just consumed me whole. A must read for every dark romance lover.

OMG! OMG! OMG!

This story had me on edge and the seat of my pants the entire holy cow I am still reeling from it and my heart's pounding. This was one, hot and dark, intense read.

Antonio is one of those characters you want to hate but, something draws you to a man like him and wanting you to uncover his secrets and even more, wondering if you are up to the challenge of trying to pierce that armor he keeps around him. The man is a Villain in every sense, a bully, dark, dangerous, powerful, sexy, a some may think him a demon but, sporadically, we get glimpses that he might have a heart after all.

Daniela is far from a pampered princess, she has a heart of gold and is passionate and shows kindness to some those some would think are beneath her. She is willing to give her life to protect those she calls her family. She was a beautiful soul and feisty to boot. Daniela faults hum, she is drawn to a dark and dangerous man who holds her captive.

The story never had a dull moment, so much mystery and suspense and parts that made one uneasy. No matter the situation Daniela finds herself in, she cannot deny the chemistry between her and Antonio, the more she fights it, the more her body craves the beast. The story is shrouded in secrets and love and making sacrifices for the ones we love, but, is one's life worth keeping those secrets?

Daniela it seems is drawn to the darkness and time will tell if she will be able to survive it, or it will swallow her whole. Antonio is that darkness, he sees Daniela as a challenge for him and his to protect he was drawn to the beautiful soul this woman has but, if he is not careful the one thing craves might just be snuffed out by the anger and darkness this man carries within him, he should be embracing the light this woman brings it might be the only thing that saves his soul.

We loved it and can't wait to see what the next adventure brings!

Hey, what’s this? Oh, right, more tiktok trash. 📕👉🏻 🗑

I must say, I’m almost impressed with how this book managed to hit every romance novel ick in less than 50 pages. Yeah… it was a DNF after 19 pages.

Why, you might be asking? Why not at least give it a fair chance and read 100 pages? Well, ladies and gentlemen, let me share this little morsel with you of the love interest’s (who is 32 I believe) thoughts about the heroine, (who just turned 18)…
“Something about her vulnerability stirred a desire I can’t shake. A desire to mark her. To spray my seed all over her supple virgin skin.”

I’m sorry…WHAT??? Whatever, blah blah blah. You get the idea, the book is absolute garbage.

And fuck you tiktok for wasting my goddamn time recommending the same books with the same old tropes over and over and OVER AGAIN. Where are all the grown ass women at who enjoy reading books about grown heroines and not little girls being preyed upon by creepy ass older men?? The romance genre is going to shit and it makes me sad to see it.

“My father arranged a marriage between me and Antonio Huntsman. He took a solemn blood oath, and he didn’t have the balls to look me in the eye and tell me any of this.”

Bad guy billionaire, with an arranged marriage to a saint of a woman. Sign me up x1000.

This was so good! Like goosebumps good. I haven’t been this intrigued by a series since the sweetest oblivion series and the Mafia wars series!

Daniela is soft yet fierce, and my word Antonio is a dreamboat with all that arrogance, demands and growling. I loved how he really is a monster, but the small things he does for her is heart-melting. The rush of trying to contain herself because this is only a deal, and fighting with her heart that she really does want him was just DAMN. The angst and tension was brilliant. This author can write some steamy scenes and I’m here for it🙌🏻

This ends in such a cliffhanger?! Like WHAT the HELL.
Who is Valentina’s mother then?!

4.5 stars!! What did I read and when can I get the next book in the series!? I am now addicted to Antonio! I’d love to hate him but I can’t help but love him anyway! There are so many secrets in this book that have yet to be revealed and I absolutely cannot wait for the second book! I don’t even know where to start with this review. I loved Daniela! She is a tough woman and so selfless. She only wants what is best for those she loves…and she has so much love to give! And Antonio…he’s an Alpha with a capital A. I don’t even know what to think of him and I’m not sure Daniela does either! What an excellent, compelling new series by the talented Eva Charles! Book two can’t come quick enough!

So messed up. I love it! I love Daniela. She's so strong, sassy, and has a spirit that isn't easily broken. There's a lot surrounding her betrothal and life that is so suspicious. I want to know exactly what her secrets are. It's terrifying thinking about what she is hiding. I'm not the biggest fan of Antonio. I think he handled a lot of things badly. I wish he would have been more upfront and honest with Daniela about what was going on. Instead he scared her, humiliated her, and almost broke her spirit. His mother is amazing for taking Daniela's side and trying to help her. Antonio is just an idiot. I'm worried about what is going to happen next with Tomas and this mystery bomber and the secrets Daniela and Antonio are both hiding.

Six years after her father's passing, Daniela's back. She has to sell her family's legacy - its vineyards, so she can truly be done and can slip away. She seriously underestimated the man she was promised to, though. Antonio Huntsman, of her family's rival clan the Huntsmans. Now he's here to tell her she's going to marry him, with or without her willingness. Sigh... but she can make it through this game he insists on playing with her. He'll never have her heart, just like she knows she'll never have his. That's the way things are done in this world of absolute power, intrigue and secrets.

Marriage of convenience, arranged marriage, archaic for sure, but the same ol' in Daniela and Antonio's world. So a familiar theme, but Eva Charles did right by it because I was highly entertained with every page, wondering if either of them would ever fall for each other. Antonio is definitely an anti-hero, and I'm not sure still if I actually like him, but I love Daniela. She's got a huge heart, a strong backbone, and a secret that I can't wait for it to get out into the world. The chemistry she shares with Antonio is searingly hot, and I'm on the edge of my seat now, waiting very impatiently for Lust to land on my Kindle.

FYI: The first 65 pages of this book gives the beginning of the story beginning with Antoni0 taking over Daniela's wine vineyard legacy. It is a novella in front of the novel. So when you get to the end, it gives you a place to rate it. Then the book continues, with page 66. However, it looks like I have rated the entire book. So here I am in Disney World, on a family vacation, confused as heck lol!!!!

I am currently on page 186. The story is really good, graphic and filled with conflict. So I will keep going until it ends!

Pages 66-416
WOW!!!!!! Mafia Business at its finest!!!!!!

The men are rigid, overbearing and treat the women like chattel. It's all about reputation and what they look like in front of their enemies as well as their friends.

Whatever the man says goes. Antonio speaks to his mother as disrespectfully as he speaks to Daniela. Princesa my foot! He spends 99% of his time, trying to stay 10 steps ahead of his enemies.
But when THEY blow up the bridesmaids and the florist at your wedding, maybe it's time to find a new line of work! On to book #2 - LUST!

Since I read the previous series by Ms. Charles named The Devil's Due, which kept me on the edge, and this one was supposedly more intense, you can imagine how much it got me excited to start Greed, the first book in A Sinful Empire Trilogy. It's just the beginning of the story that follows Daniela and Antonio. Do not start this story in the evening - TRUST ME, or be ready to stay up all night!
Daniela was raised as a princess of a vineyard, but make no mistake - she's totally not like that, she has a passion for others and wants to take care of every person in a weaker position than her. She's also loyal and dutiful, will go into the flames for someone she loves, and will do everything in her power to protect them. Feistiness will raise in quite a few places, to add redness to our cheeks!
I have to be sincere, I wanted to hate this man, Antonio, but something in him made me reluctant about it. I definitely wasn't fond of him for quite some time. You don't want to poke this man in his side, as he's the villain that will not hesitate to dominate, punish, take whatever he wants. And I have to point out that he's sinfully sexy and has this attitude that will make any reader's knees shake. Antonio can become our book husband if he will keep up in the future books!
I started reading with hesistnt attitude, as this story was an enigma, but quickly I got myself so into the story that due to work day I had to make myself stop reading, and it was... hard... and when I had free time, I imiiately jumped into the read again. There will be lots of secrets, untod truths that will make your head spin with the ideas that will pop up. To add more - chemistry will be of the charts, you will find it on a darker side, that can be not for every reader, so proceed with caution. What I have to mention is the ending -my gosh it came out of blue, and made me growl with frustration that I don't have book two with me yet!

Thank you to Eva Charles and Greys Promo for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Also, thanks to Eva Charles for the fun items that accompanied this ARC!

This cover is everything! It's dark, dangerous and just oozing lust and it's a freaking pomegranate! I mean, how does that work?! Like the cover, this book was full of suspense, dark tones and a whole lot of sexual tension.

Daniela is the daughter of a deceased, wealthy vineyard owner who has just come back from America after running six years prior. Antonio is a man, years older than Daniela who has just dropped the bomb that she was promised to him in a deathbed deal with her father years before.

Eva Charles does a wonderful job creating a world where men are in charge and women are accessories in this old world Portugal. I loved that while Antonio wanted Daniela to be like the submissive women in his circle, he also found her strength and grit attractive. He made her beg, punished her when he felt she deserved it, but also showed her that there is more to him than violence and power. The tension between Antonio and Daniela was intense, truly a love/hate relationship fueled by lust at the moment. There is so much potential for their relationship to grow to an all encompassing love that could change the tide of the world they live in.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Charles and it will not be my last. The ending was a cliffhanger I was both prepared and not prepared for. I hope that we will be able to see just how ruthless Daniela can get. We've seen glimpses of that strength, but I think she's ready to make a name for herself with the help of Antonio. If you're looking for a romance filled with mafia vibes, a true alpha, and a heroine that will do anything to save the people she loves, get Greed when it comes out on January 27th.

I discovered Eva Charles’ books during the shutdown and became an instant fan. I read her entire library of books and loved them all. Her latest book is a familiar subject featuring Antonio, a hot mafia boss and Daniela a young beautiful woman who is definitely NOT just a pretty face. Eva is a true story teller and with each chapter sparks begin to fly, secrets are beginning to emerge and by the end of the first book you say “well damn” when is the next book coming out. Yes this is a trilogy and end on a cliff hanger, however I positively assure you it will be worth the wait.

Why, oh why, did it have to end so soon? I was so focused on them finally coming together that I was not expecting that ending. Great idea to keep us on our seats. Eva Charles is a newer author to me as I have only just read The Devil’s Duets books within the past month. Will definitely keep my eye out for future books.

'Step over steamy reads of 2021, there's a new and hotter man in down and his name is Antonio. And he's about to add fuel to your fires!

Thank you to Grey's Promotions for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy of GREED for me to read and review.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just going to go ahead and lay this out right from the start. I've officially found my first top read of 2022 and within the first week of the New Year, too! I came into this read knowing that I was going to be a cliffhanger ending, as I planned to be invested in the story of these two characters for the long haul, but I was not planning on just how much this would be a knockout read as a first installation into said series.

This was also my first time reading an Eva Charles novel, so I was going into this completely blind as to her writing style and how her words read to me as an individual, and with the pre-warning that this novel would have dark themes, natures and plenty of themes of the like, I was more than prepared to be immersed in something other than my usual light-hearted go-to novel. What I didn't expect, was to find a read so amazing that three days on from finishing it, I'm still thinking about it and really wanting book two ASAP!

From the very start, the suspense was there and it stayed with me the entire time I spent reading the book from virtual cover to cover. Just when you think things have cooled off and you have a moment to breathe, you're back up on your guard and at the edge of your seat. I love it! Some books label themselves as romantic suspense when in fact, there's barely any at all. It's a barely-there trope. Not with Greed. If I could hold up a true definition whenever anyone needs the trope and genre defining, this would be THE book I would use every time to define it. A*'s across the board for high-octane suspense, steamy romance, sizzling steam and my-oh-my mafia action.

I honestly don't think I could say anymore without it spoiling just how phenomenal this book truly was. Please, pre-order this book ASAP and strap yourselves in for a ride that's going to put this book on your own top read lists as it did mine.

This is a book and series to watch, mark my words.

Someday I hope to adorn my bookcase with this paperback, it's going right on my Amazon wish list as soon as it's available to do so.

5 Stars! (Even though in all honesty, I'd give it 50!)

I don’t even know where to begin! The beginning of Antonio and Daniela’s story is flipping phenomenal. Both of these character are strong and very stubborn. I don’t think I have loved or wanted to strangle two characters more in my life. Antonio is ruthless, unforgiving but honorable and his word is his bond. Daniela is strong, fiercely independent, compassionate with a heart gold and would do anything to protect the ones she loves including sacrificing herself. These two together are explosive! Antonio is such a complex character and I have a feeling there is so much more to him then what we see on the surface and I have a feeling his layers are goin to unravel as we dive deeper into the next book and I can’t wait. This was an epic way to start of a new series with so many twists and turns. This is the first time I am reading this author and I can’t wait for more! I will be sitting on pins and needles wait for book 2 to drop!

OMG…I have to start off with saying…Cliffhanger! I want to gut someone right now. I need to know what happens next. Daniela DeSousa’s father dies. Before he passes away, he arranges a deal with Antonio Huntsman to marry his daughter. Daniela is just turned eighteen so Antonio allows her to leave the country. Little does she know, he is watching every move she is making. Six years later, she returns to sell the land she owns...a vineyard because she has run out of money.

The story is the keeps you on the edge of your seat kind of story. I needed to know what was happening next! I would have to turn the page and lose time while reading this. It was so good. But it did end with a cliffhanger…and I need more. This is a HOT and STEAMY story. Antonio is a major ALPHA who gets what he wants when he wants it. There are so many secrets and unanswered questions. And it was SO GOOD!

3.5 stars rounded up.This book is set mostly in Portugal with a 6 year time hop. Arranged marriage trope with no romance or love though they do Heat up The pages a bit. The story happening between the mc’s is good but I skimmed through a lot of the business. Also the H sleeps
With OW on 2 occasions. Later at a party the OW introduced herself to the fmc Daniela. Antonio is constantly stating that he does not love Daniela. Irritating!

Antonio and Daniela's trilogy started out on fire and now I’m dying for the next one!! Daniela has no idea that her father basically signs her life away as part of a deal and Antonio is ready to collect after she comes back to America cause he intends to collect what’s been promised to him regardless of how Daniela feels about it
