When a new client hires Jill to find out who is embezzling funds from his ski business, she makes the mistake of claiming to be an expert skier, with dire consequences. Over in Candlefield, the nymphs need Jill's help with a thorny problem. Meanwhile Jack refuses to believe he is the guardian of the final compass stone.
The last few books have been mostly about her quirky clients, her insufferable brat of a daughter, and her shady one eyed cat. She seems to have given up strengthening her witchy muscles. Ever since she got married and had her brat child, she has gotten too tame. I realize that Jill, her daughter, and her grandmother represent maiden, mother, crone, and they are all so much alike it's scary. This series has gotten stale! I still like it, but I miss the kick butt Jill Gooder of the early days.
I think this series has slowly reached its end.. It's still funny, but dragging on quite a bit and getting more silly. Also Florence has turned into a complete spoiled brat and Jill only encourages her behaviour. I really hope the compass stone storyline finishes in the next couple of books( confirmed titles) and this series comes to a close as there's not much more to tell otherwise... If I could give half stars, 3.5 would been given for this book.
This was another fun story by Adele Abbott. It’s always fun to see what all the characters we come to know and love are up to while solving mysteries in the process. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a book with mystery and humor.
This is such a good story! The plot is very well written and the story itself is really entertaining. I love it when Jill sniggers. Ms. Abbott has an incredible imagination. You won’t be sorry to buy this book.
Where indeed, Jack really is in the dark. Whisky is up to his tricks of using Jill as a patsy. Her business is busy and there is trouble on the home front
