Mae Monahan owns the Tipperary Carriage Company and she has been hired to work at a county fair where she’ll give carriage rides to the fair-goers and will be leading the post parade of horses before they race each day.
Before she, her friend Ross, son Brandon, and Brandon’s girlfriend Chloe head out to work at the fair, Mae finds an unexpected guest in one of the fields behind Ross’s barn.
After sorting that out, the foursome bring three of Mae’s horses to the fair, but some suspicious things begin to happen that has Mae worried about her horses’ safety. They’ll need to figure out what’s going on before harm comes to some of the horses, and to some of the people.

This is one if those series that I absolutely love to read. In this episode, Mae Monahan has been hired to lead the County Fair's parade each day for a week, and also give carriage rides to everybody that buys tickets after the races. There are like seven races each day, so seven parade leads each day, as well as the carriage rides. She brought all three lands carriages (two white and one black), as well as three of her horses (Steel, Star, and Copper). And Mick and Mack, Mae's two border collie terriers wind up at the fairgrounds for the last few days. Also with Mae are Ross Goodnight, Mae's son Brandon, and Brandon's girlfriend Chloe. There are also a few mysteries about who put a strange horse in Ross Goodnight's pasture, who lets out two of Mae's horses from the fairground stables, and who puts strange substances in the horse oats and dog treats. I gave this episode 5 stars and will be reading Book #13 really soon!
I really enjoyed this county fair story and once again how Mae’s horses can save the day when needed. I knew I didn’t trust some people when they showed up to claim a stray horse from Goodnight Farms, but it wasn’t exactly revealed what they might or might not be into until later in the book.
During a fair that was supposed to be working but fun, Mae and Ross had to worry about horses getting out or someone entering the tack room. The perp got what they had coming, and Mae’s horse might’ve helped her to save someone’s life. Another exciting mystery that was so compelling, I didn’t even mind not having a murder in it.
Mae has planned to lead her horses to start each of the seven daily races with passages for next five days at fair. Stanley's new trailer home is about to be delivered, the tornado destroyed his other one. Mae finds a strange horse in the field with Ross's other boarding horses. They find the lost horse's owner. Mae, Ross, Brandon and Chloe all go to the fair grounds to get ready for the races. They find Steel outside loose when they get to the barn. They have more troubles and need to figure what is happening.
I was reluctant to read this series for awhile, but I'm glad I did. The characters are very relatable. I'm a fan of both horses and dogs as well. I also think I learned a lot about horse driving. Glad to see the next book will be out soon.
