Violet Archer has never looked forward to a Christmas more. She’s got a lot to after a whirlwind year of secrets, lies and heartache, she gets to spend this festive season as the fiancée of her best friend (and boss), Ethan Fraser. Everything’s going to be wonderful. Isn’t it?
Will Violet get the quiet, cosy and totally loved-up Christmas of her dreams? Between one extremely irate CEO, two warring best friends, and a temporarily homeless and implausibly half-dressed German, Violet’s vision of festive bliss seems to be melting away faster than Frosty the Snowman on a sunbed…
NB - This is a Short Story in the Agency Series. It features between Book 2 (It's Complicated) and Book 3 (Second Chance).
The Agency series is based in London and set in the exciting world of advertising. Following the intertwined lives of a group of kickass career women, the series is a heartwarming mix of angsty romance and laugh-out-loud humour. Each book is numbered chronologically in the series, but every title is a complete story in its own right.
FRIENDLY All of Elizabeth’s books feature realistic characters who do things real people do (like have sex) and say things real people say (like drop f-bombs).
A short read from the series ‘The Agency’ I haven’t read any of the others but this is a great little read and standalone and I would absolutely read more from the series! From a person who’s not a Christmas fan, this book definitely made me want to make more effort over the Christmas season and also a reminder that no one should spend Christmas alone. Dipping my toes very slightly in preparation for Christmas Reads!
“Losing you meant I lost who I was.”
“but I really wish she’d stop saying “screw”. I am a human being, not a plank of wood”
“You can’t pick and choose who you fall in love with”
“I fucking know what’s important in life”
“I’m where I’m supposed to be. Who gives a crap what my day job is?”
“Will I ever have what it takes to fix the cracks in her armour?”
I thought this would be a perfect short read, as 70 pages in paperback format. However, I didn't really get into the story. That could've been because of my state or mind, or because I didn't really understand what was happening. I think that's because Perfect Christmas is book #2.5 in The Agency series and book 1 and 2 are about Violet and Ethan, so I missed a lot of their story. Than an all me problem, I didn't really try hard to understand it. I got about 41% into the story.
This short story sits between books two and three in The Agency series and is the first story I've read in this seies and also from this author.
It was easy enough to follow without having read the previous books, but I rather wish I'd read them in order because I felt I was missing out on Violet and Ethan's backstory and an understanding of what makes Stella tick.
Nevertheless, I found it to be an interesting happy-ending story, where Violet gets the Christmas she deserves.
While reading it I said: "this is good, I really like the characters, if the author writes a novel about them I would read it" then I realized that there is a novel (even a series and this is the 2.5 haha)about them, so hope to read it soon!!!
Yes, I read it just because I wanted something Christmassy🎄❤️.
I just love the writing. So funny. The whole The Agency series is great, this is a worthy addition. I hope there's another novel at least so we can read about the wedding.
Short and sweet! I love Violet and Ethan and their story and it was nice to get another insight into their lives. Perfect addition to the The Agency series I can’t get enough of them.
Me gusto mucho este libro es muy bueno para pasar el rato, sin embargo me hubiera gustado un poco más de navidad en el, pero por otro lado Ame a Ethan y a Violet son tan hermosos ❤️
3rd and final short story i read from this series. it led on very well from the last novel and had a very wholesome ending. very satisfied with this series
For those looking for THE Christmas book with all the trimmings, this book isn’t it. Christmas is a time to forget about work; with this book, it’s thrown in your face every other page.
