All’s fair in love, war, and baking contests. I’m desperate to save my party planning business. So desperate I agree to dress up as a dancing cucumber for my ex-boyfriend’s sons’ birthday party. Talk about lower than low.
Then, I see an opportunity that may solve all our problems. $20,000 for winning a local version of The Great British Bake-Off? I’m in. So what if I’ve never actually baked anything? To save our business, I’m willing to read every baking book under the sun.
When I find out that one of my main competitors is Cooper Davis, the handsome but annoying coffee shop owner two doors down, I’m even more intent on taking home that cash.
Suddenly, so much more is at stake than baking or winning, especially when we start making an unexpected connection. Too bad we are both determined to win.
Get The Message is a laugh-out-loud, enemies-to-lovers, sweet romcom with a fierce baking competition, unexpected love connection, and chemistry with all the feels with closed-door romance!
Contemporary Romance & Chick Lit with sizzle and sass
Brynn North's goal is to write fun, witty, and relatable books that leave you with a smile and laugh. Her heroines are often finding their way in life, in and out of relationships. Her characters may not always be perfect people, but hey, neither are we, right? Her books are chick lit or closed-door romance, perfect for readers who love chemistry and sizzle but no explicit content.
She is a Minnesota native and still lives in Minneapolis with her family, loving it for approximately eight months out of the year. The other four months she dreams about moving to a warmer zip code. She is a total cat lady, with the best cats in the entire world. #sorrynotsorry
Okay. Here it is. I loved the book, a clean romance. The last parts of it were my favorite. Now here's the split of what I liked and didn't like of it.
Like🌿 -Cooper -I loved how cute and such a good brother Cooper is. How he protects and takes care of his family. -the baking plot and their experiences. -The chemistry between Cooper and Ellie. -I sometimes liked Ellie, her creativity and boldness. -Jenna and Ellie's friendship. The support between each other. -Brie's motive to win the show. -The kissing scenes💞 -Ellie's owning her mistakes.
Didn't like🍃 -how slow it was at the beginning. But pushing towards the middle and the end is worth it. -Brie. Her attitude towards Cooper irked me so much. How she sometimes manipulated him and made him feel guilty. Also she was sometimes selfish too. -The other baking teams. -Tucker. -some of Ellie's choices on how to deal with the situation.
overall, it felt slow at the beginning. Some characters weren't my favorites. But I have nothing but good things to say of Cooper and Ellie's chemistry. I loved it. It felt so short! I needed more.
Ellie needs to somehow earn money because her business is failing and she needs to do something to fix things. With absolutely no experience in baking, she enters a baking contest and hopes to win. Cooper is also entered in the contest. Will these two survive the challenge? Will they perhaps win something a lot better than they were aiming for?
Cooper and Ellie are total opposites. They do their best to needle each other every morning when Ellie comes into Cooper's coffee shop. Cooper's sister Brie enters them in a bake off contest. Ellie and Jenna need more room for their business so they enter too. Loved Cooper's descriptions of the other contestants, just had to laugh. Another great story from Brynn North, loved it!!

Get the Message by Brynn North is a delightful enemies to lovers read set against the backdrop of a Great British Baking Show type competition for local business owners. Although Ellie gets her coffee every day from Cooper’s coffee shop, they do not get along. In fact, they love to give each other a hard time. Their relationship changes when they both sign up to compete in a baking competition. Both Cooper and Ellie are great characters; they are both selfless, kind, and hard working. Neither of them have any baking experience so it is fun to see them figuring out how to bake. I love the opportunities Brynn gave them to interact and start to fall in love. I love how Ellie and Cooper are matched up on the dating app and they start talking without knowing who each other is. They conversations are so great! I loved reading this book. It was so fun to read. The humor, swoony kisses, and side characters help create a great read. I also love that this book is set in my hometown. It was so fun to references your things I know so well.
First of all what a great cover this book has . This is my first book of the author and it won' t be the last . They know each other for two years as the coffee owner and the woman with the specific coffee order . They both tease each other and have funny discucion every day they meet . She needs money because her business is not doing very good so she enter to a baking contest while she knows nothing about baking . He is accepted to the baking contest after his sister register them . While they compete to win the contest they both discover that what they know about the other was just a image they shown to others . I loved all the baking they did . I am looking forward for Brie story and then perhaps Jennas .

I thoroughlyyy enjoyed this! I love GBBO & baking in general so this was right up my street. Enemies to lovers, baking show competition and secret penpals? Sign me up!
I loved Cooper. I’ve accepted all fictional men called Cooper are perfect. I liked Ellie apart from when she complained about being broke but proceeded to buy unnecessary things which made her even more broke.
Anyways, I recommend if you like a sweet, swoony romance!

It was cute when Cooper and Ellie interacted. It was a good story line. It just was a little hard to get into because there was a lot of stuff in between interactions. I liked it well enough and loved the ending.
What a fun story! Did not see the twist at the end coming either. I was really unsure of which team I was on throughout the entire story, but I think the ending resolved everything very nicely.
