Her roommate looks at her sometimes and Clarke is never sure if they’re going to kill or kiss each other.
When Clarke Griffin forgets to complete her sophomore year residency application, she returns to college to find that they’ve paired her with the last roommate she ever expected to get.
This is a Clexa fanfic (Clarke and Lexa from 100) and is better written than most published women loving women fics out there.
The story is poignant and brings on the feels. There is some heavy back history to both characters that fuel their actions but they weren’t given lip service or used as cheap dramatic devices. Instead, they informed how Lexa and Clarke thought and behaved. The writing really ropes you in and is very well done.
Even though it’s a fanfic, the editing quality is high with a few minor exceptions.
When Clarke and Lexa met each other in first year college, their initial interaction didn't go very well. As stereotypes go, they couldn't be any more opposite of each other. Clarke wasn't dubbed "Party Girl Griffin" for nothing and was pretty much transparent about her fooling around, whereas all Lexa wanted to do was focus on her studies and keep away from the ruckus surrounding her as much as possible. So when the popular girl attempted to strike up a friendship with the reclusive one, snubbing the former didn't exactly give Lexa a good reputation, earning her the title of "The Robot." When second year kicks in and the two found themselves sharing a dorm room, it brought in all the awkwardness one could expect from such a setting considering their unfortunate past encounter.
What roped me in when I read the tags for this fic were the popular/nerdy girl pairing and the roommate setup. But the sweet and adorable new adult romance this turned out to be was the absolute cherry on top. While the story was thin on the plot and the MCs could be seen as a little too much at times, when I pondered on their age and their discovery of the wonders of first love, their reverence for each other became acceptable to me. 'Cause that's kind of how it is when you're young and falling for the first time, isn't it? Everything feels grand and all-encompassing.
The only downside here was how Clarke slept with Finn too many times. It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the fact he was a total prick. But I know his role was to bring in some drama, so I guess I can forgive it. Clarke was going through a tough time in the beginning, hence her poor decisions.
Nonetheless, I highly recommend this fic for the cute romance. Lots of stuff made me go, "Aww 🥰" I actually think with some minor editing, this is worth getting published as a book.
2,4 This is not so good but not the worst either. I know it’s fanfic and I appreciate the effort. A lot of things are missing. A lot of details. The dialogues are not good at the beginning but as I reached the end I noticed that it got better. One thing that I wanted was to know more about their past and more about them as people. But it was also sweet and it made me smile once or twice. I didn’t have a lot of expectations when I started reading this. I think I have never read a really good fanfic. Maybe it’s not for me and I should stop reading that kind of stuff. No disrespect to the author. If I tried to write a book it would be catastrophic I’m sure of it.
I can't express my love enough for fanfiction. Particularly this one. I keep coming back to She and wallowing in all the feels that thefooliam passes out in every chapter. I am a Clexa fan probably till the end of my days and this is the top of the heap.
