Thunder of Guns

Rate this book
Thunder of Guns is the seventh thrilling tale in Jason Born’s acclaimed Long Fuse series. Empires collide in a war that spans the globe. From virgin forests to rocky shores, the flawed souls of men clamor for glory or death.

1758 A.D. Following a crushing defeat against the walls of Fort Carillon, the British cause is desperate. Hoping for some small feat – or to eliminate his competition – General Abercromby dispatches his rival Colonel Bradstreet into the heart of North America on an impossible task. With no support, Bradstreet and his force are to deliver a military and economic shock to the French. While there, he and Ephraim Weber learn that the colonel’s family is at grave risk in another theater of this War of the Two Tongues. The pair immediately shift focus to the Louisbourg Expedition, which targets the largest fortress in all of the Western Hemisphere. The race is on. Between Ephraim and those who mean the Bradstreet family harm. Between the entire British campaign and the mercurial elements of Isle Royale in New France.

A rousing tale of war, Thunder of Guns is filled with action and adventure. It breathes life into familiar characters and introduces men and women we ought to know. Thunder of Guns is a magnificent yarn that lays bare the sacrifices made by all in the midst of conflict. It is for anyone who yearns to become a firsthand witness to the pangs that foretold the birth of a great nation.

Jason Born is a popular historical novelist of many series as well as stand-alone titles. His latest work, On Love & War, is an epic tale of devotion and pain in Napoleonic Europe. The Long Fuse is an ongoing series that thrillingly captures the violent period of America’s rise from ragtag colonies to independence. He is the author three other gritty series of works spanning time and place. Lions & Devils vividly describes the heroes and villains of the monstrous Islamic assault of Western Europe during the Eighth Century. The Norseman Chronicles center on the faithful Viking, Halldorr, who desired peace, but found only war in the Old and New Worlds. The Wald Chronicles describe the rugged conflict and improbable outcome in Germania during the wars between Rome and her tribal adversaries over 2,000 years ago. League of the Lost Fountain is his first work for kids of all ages. Jason lives in the Midwest with his wife and three children.

Great Read

I love the series and the characters but most of all love the history, I wish more books were written concerning early America. So much took place prior to us becoming a United States. I look forward to Mr. Weber continuing story and the tales he has in store for the readers and the journey to come,

Another great installment of The Long Fuse

Book 7 is another great installment in The Long Fuse Series. I would highly recommend the entire series to anyone interested in the build up to the American Revolution. Mr. Born brings the events of the 7 Years War to life in a very unique way. I’ve greatly enjoyed the series and hope there is a book 8 on its way.

The attack on Fort Frontenac, and siege of Louisburg

Weber is in the thick of the French and Indian War again.
The detail of these books is fascinating, to see in your mind the full tale you need the details. That is what the author excels at.
Finished in 24 hours because these are too compelling to put down.

E.Webers trails across early American history

I like the Weber personality, and the knowledge of the American Indian ,and the American History. If only High schools would use historical fiction as learning tools to teach American history.

a cracker read

Wonderful research. Great prose. An entertaining and enlightening read. But start from the beginning of the series. It’s worth it.
