Running from a broken heart sends her home, but home ends up a thousand worlds away, and she ends up at the mercy of the master of the shattered world.
Keva has been having the worst day. She has found out her boyfriend was cheating, gone home to her father’s house, and been teleported across the stars. It has been trying. She wakes up trapped in her house with no idea why, and the stars and space station she can see from the house were not there yesterday. Azzul won the manor house and all contents in a card game and dispatched drones to bring it to him. It was not supposed to be occupied. The living being in the house should be dead. That puzzle alone has his attention, and watching the human woman walk around the home and grounds convinces him of one thing. She is art personified... and she belongs to him.
A quirky beauty and the beast with a side of wizard of oz
Keva ran to her childhood home to feel sorry for herself afer learning her boyfriend had been cheating on her. When she woke up the next morning her house had moved. She is now the property of Overseer Azzul. Azzul is the last of his kind. Wealthy and powerful, he is owns a popular and prosperous space station and is an artist and collector of many things. The manor house he won in a card game, came with a human female. She quickly becomes his new favorite thing. She becomes even more precious when he realizes they are compatible. Sweet and steamy. Looking forward to the next book
This was dry humour funny. It was hot. And it was both long enough and short enough to make it a well, complete story.
I would have loved an epilogue. I also loved how Azzul and Keva getting together was logical/practical in that she made up her mind to be with him after the initial threat of debt, but after they were on the same page, external conflicts were not an issue for them as they communicated.
This little tale was such a joy to read. From being part of the contents of a lost bet, to being something else entirely. Keva and Azzul have a great time. From being art to being cherished, who doesn’t want that in their life. I look forward to the next installment of this new series. Please write faster Miss Grace, I will be waiting.
Such a fun book to read! The plot was easy to follow. The characters were both sympathetic. The story itself was light-hearted and fun. It's been a while since I've read a Viola Grace book, but now I know I'll come back to read more in the near future. Keva and Azull made a lovely couple, and their connection came through right from the beginning!
I used to read Viola’s books. I had burnt out, but I’ve discovered that she has evolved in her story telling. I really love that evolution gave her stories some softness around the edges and some true depth to her characters. Thank you for a lovely read. Azzul was delughtfully complex and Keva was just the right amount of sweet & sexy.
I got pretty far and then stopped. They finally have a romp together and I’m all for weird peens but all I can picture in my head that equates is the gosh darn bubble curling iron wand for fabulous beach waves. 😭😭😭
Viola Grace is talented, and prolific. Whilst her books are never hard science, they do show humans-predominantly human women- venturing out into the universe. And the resulting blend of cultures. This story was a departure from the norm, the heroine starts off accidentally trafficked by her worthless father. Stranded on an alien space station, controlled by a hard hearted taskmaster, without assets or allies.
