Randal’s Friends (RANFREN) is a series of surreal comics about a young person and his brother,
along with the catmen people and other friends in their house in the mysterious Great Canadian suburbs where anything can happen.
Randal has friends such as dolls which he can talk to and his new human pet Sebastian de Tomato Smith Chicken legs,
who doesn’t quite seem to belong. Join them as they experience being people, the best that they can anyways. .

Creator aside, Ranfren is one of the most interesting corners of the internet that I’ve found this year. I love the tone, the characters, the strange little lore tidbits, all of it. The art style is mesmerising, and I really wish I could just let loose and DRAW like that. Randal is literally me and I will be making him my entire personality I am afraid. #randal4president

Reminds me of if One Piece was Canadian and also indecipherable.

I'm curious about the author's inspirations, one source of which was obviously Japanese manga, as well as their choices in presentation and accessibility for readers to access their art and work.
Their website is a zeitgeist of computer sprites and all their favorite colors. It was a joy to navigate that's actually more fun than reading the comic itself.

I like the mix of domesticity and barely-lucid (I've been using that word more, it makes a good title, and a good adjective,) barely-lucid, prose. It's like coming back home late at night and there's people still up but they're not your family. I also liked when they went to the drive-thru. I hope it snows.

it’s great, the art is unique and the characters are too..
but the storyline is not consistent and the punctuation can be off sometimes.
the creator of this web-comic was “canceled” therefore if you enjoy it, you’ll pretty much be bashed.
other than that, i would say it’s 3 - 4.5 stars since i really like it.. and maybe a 5 if im being nice.
not to mention the fandom is toxic and disgustingly obsessed with.. “insects”.. calling it that so i don’t get this deleted.. but no, luther x randal is NOT cannon. please get that out of your head.

Took me a while to finish it because some of the chapters were boring. I liked it a lot a few months ago when I was reading the first chapters, But not much anymore. It definitely is an interesting fandom though! I noticed that some of the drawings in the last chapters were not drawn well. It was hard to tell what I was looking at and reading. I also didn’t like the rats. Other than that, Randal and Luther are pretty cool.
