Nicholas is a story about a boy that, whilst being academically clever, is an outsider at school with no friends, apart from an imaginary one, called Robin. He is often teased and bullied.A new sports teacher arrives and discovers that Nicholas has an outstanding talent for swimming, and takes him under his wing. Eventually, Nicholas represents his school in swimming competitions and soon becomes something of a school hero.But there is a mystery to be solved. Nicholas remembers very little about his early childhood. Initially, he lives with his Grandmother and Grandfather, but when they both die, his cousin Nancy moves in with him, as his guardian.A fellow student, the redoubtable Tracey Albourne, becomes resolved to discover Nicholas’s past. We follow Nicholas and Tracey’s journey as they unlock mutual hidden talents, and eventually find out the shocking truth about Nicholas’s early life.In Nicholas, we experience teenage romance, sadness, anger, laughter, and a mystery to work out.
