He’s the biggest grinch that’s ever plagued the earth, and not even his pretty face or his Black card can make up for his crap personality.
I can write a book about all the ways I hate him and his alluring dominance that somehow attracts everyone, including me. But instead, I’ll settle for being a pain and continuing to defy him in any way possible while still keeping my job.
The only problem is that he likes to ruffle my feathers as much as I do his, so he’s forcing me to attend the annual Christmas party.
It was on the tip of my tongue to deny his demands, but instead, I found myself enjoying his order. I also like the way his eyes lock on me, following my every move.
They say it’s the season of giving… perhaps I should see what my boss has to offer.
Hey there! My name is Lee. I like to think of myself as a bibliophile who belongs to the Ravenclaw house. I write romances that can sometimes be sweet and spicy or deadly and kinky. I'm a firm believer in happily ever afters and men who always make sure their woman is satisfied first. When I'm not writing, I'm drowning myself in a good book, losing track of time on the Nintendo Switch with my kids, and laughing or yelling at one of my husbands practical jokes. (He likes to leave fake spiders and roaches around.) Also, something important to note. I live off Chai and Dean Winchester. “I realize then I could stare at her like this for hours and never grow bored. I could find a dozen constellations in those delicate markings, and then turn around and find a dozen more.”
Lee really said, let’s write a hot but cute novella with Christian Grey 2.0.
This was enjoyable, but I didn’t expect to laugh a little during the smut scenes. The way Roman was trying to be a Dom but ended up being Christian Grey 2.0 was kinda funny.
I liked the hate-to-love dynamic between Presley and Roman, but I wish there was more relationship development between them. They hated each other, and the next moment, he gifted her an expensive dress, and they made out in an elevator. There was something missing between them—but the smut was hot, and that’s all I read Holinight novellas for!
“What do we do now?” I whisper into his neck, not wanting to move from his warm embrace. “I’d like to live everyday as if it’s Christmas on the thirteenth floor if it means doing this with you.” I smile, forcing myself to lean back so I can look into his eyes. “Sounds perfect to me, Mr. Chen.”
4.5⭐️ reread—and honestly I had just as great of a time!!
___ Oh y’all thought I was done? HELLLLL NO!!!
This book was ✨it✨ for me.
I freaking LOVE enemies to lovers. Just add an office romance between an asshole boss and his sassy personal assistance and then BOOM, you have this book. Also, the fact that Presley has a shoe obsession just makes me love her that much more.
It was so hot. There seems to be a pattern with Lee Jacquot’s books and it’s that THEY WILL MAKE YOUR🐱 THROB. So if you’re looking for that (which idk why you wouldn’t be) add this ENTIRE series to your TBR. Oooof I’m still coming back down from the high that was this novella. The praise my goodness… THE PRAISES coming from this man’s mouth. I’m in love.
And it was Christmas themed?! Lord… I have been blessed. Also, I learned a few new terms in this book so yay for education 🥵😏

This one fell flat to me. The fmc literally hates the mmc and then finds out he leaves chocolate’s on her desk and BAM he’s sweet? Bro has been degrading her (and not the fun kind) for 3 years. Bye.
First half of this novella was almost a DNF for me lol, like nearly up to the 50 page mark. But once the smut started, that's when things got interesting and turned the tide for the better.
If there's ONE thing I can trust Lee Jacquot to do, is write fire spice scenes, every. damn. time. She does NOT miss on the front. The way she is able to build the tension through description, through dialogue, that when you finally do get to the smut you honestly just have to put the book down and take a breather lmao. And she usually includes some kink as well, so, thanks QUEEN.
But the first half was a little hard to get through. The characters fell a little flat and the dynamic between the main couple was initially off-putting. And I think this was just because the MMC was written to be slightly unlikeable, an asshole just to be an asshole because his father was an asshole and yada yada, and never really does anything to grow from that initial characterization?
But otherwise, if you're looking for a contemporary workplace erotic romance with a little holiday flair, this is worth checking out :)
Two words in a romance book from the hero that always leaves me fanning myself. I am loving these short and steamy reads by Lee. Presley works for Roman and thinks he's an asshole and Roman enjoys pushing all her buttons. When the two of them finally come together...it is so sexy. Melt your Kindle, make you blush hot. I love the games they play and I love how perfectly their needs match each other.
If you're looking for some steamy and kinky reads to pass some time, definitely give this series a try. I promise you won't regret it.
3.5 ⭐ Lorddd Roman and his mouth I want him to call me his good girl;). I love the games he was playing with Presley even if at first she didn't know they were playing a game.. she just hated him for being a jackass and annoying lol but you know what they say about Hate.. it turns into getting your kitty eaten in the office.. the tension between the two was so delicious!! I wish they had more banter the Christmas party was good the tension the sex toy the tiny jealously on both sides lol. I wish the ending was alittle different before jumping into the Epilogue but yeah its a novella so yeah.
Not really ow/om drama (just coworkers who were annoying), no cheating, slight secondary character, sexy times, no virgins

Who the hell needs a plot when you have a sex scene with a hot dominant CEO?
I still can't stop laughing at the ridiculousness of this book. The author really throws the plot in the garbage in an exchange for a very hot and steamy sex scene lol.
The writing was very off, the descriptions of certain things were cringe and doesn't make sense, the flow of it was off too. Starts by describing A and then suddenly switch to describing Z, it really threw me off guard and I couldn't help but laugh in disbelief.
The characters are just fucking weird. The MMC's vibe and character felt forced, didn't well-developed, and some of the puzzles didn't match one another. The FMC was so cringe, there were inconsistencies with the character, she was A but she was also J and Z which didn't connect in any way. The characters' interaction was a bit cringe and felt forced, there was no chemistry or anything because for me it didn't make sense that they worked together for years then suddenly they were all over on each other quite literally. No romance or some sort just full-blown non-existent sexual tensions that didn't make sense then bam! Oral sex in the office.
Side characters were also weird, the interaction felt forced too, and it didn't naturally fall into their places in the story.
But hey, at least the book has some good quality spices 🤷🏻♀️🤣 and I enjoyed it. The sex scene, I mean.
Screw plot and character development. We just need a high-quality sex scene and a lot of horny feelings😫🤌🏻
This author is new to me, and I was intrigued by the promise of steam and the holiday setting.
What I Loved: 1. The steam and kink did not disappoint: praise, edging spanking, sub/dom vibes, toys…a lot was packed into this novella. 2. I liked the characters. Presley and Roman were great together. She works for him and he is the jerk boss. It was a great set up, and I loved the little glimpses into his personality and the ways he cared for her. 3. The epilogue was cute and I enjoyed the holiday party tie in with snow and Christmas lights. 4. Diverse Hero.
What I needed more of: 1. The sexual tension did not really read translate outside of the bedroom. We hear him say he wants her but we don’t really get the sense from her. In fact someone else makes her consider it. I think if this would have a been a full novel, it would have gotten there. 2. As with most novellas, it needed a bit more development for me. I needed more between them, especially on her part, and I needed maybe a chapter or two after the final chapter and the epilogue. This is why I always find it hard to read novellas. I can only imagine it is hard to balance all these things in such a short page count. 3. I would have liked a bit more Christmas / holiday.
Should you read? Yes, I enjoyed the writing, the characters, and it was the perfect quick and HOT read.
this is one of the holiday novellas i was most looking forward to this season, but it was very much mid to me. i didn't get the festive warm fuzzies and i'm still feeling like i must have missed a few chapters somewhere somewhere because of how quickly their tones changed from "i literally despise you as a person" to "let's get married it's always been you"
overall, not a bad time, but other holiday novellas have hit the mark more for me recently.
Finished this with 7 minutes left in 2023 :) woohoo last read of the year! review to come.

While I am always down for a hate-to-love dynamic, and lots of hot sex, this didn't exactly hit the spot. I didn't care for the characters and the relationship progression went from 0 to 100 in no time (literally. she HATES him for years, he gifts her a dress, and then make out 2 seconds after...).
But the smut was nice and this was a quick read so I'm not really tripping.
Would recommend if you're in the mood for Fifty Shades of Grey: the abridged version.
Presley hates her boss. He’s the biggest asshole but little does she know, she’s playing right into his game.
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT. This was sooo good! THE SPICE was to die for. The praise with the slightest hint of degradation PLUS AFTERCARE. I need Roman in my life so bad it’s not even funny.
How the author managed to give us great plot, hot ass smut, and a satisfying HEA without it feeling rushed all in less than 100 pgs I’ll never know.
Highly highly recommended and I don’t say this lightly!!! Run don’t walk.
I love Lee Jacquot’s seasonal novellas so much! This is was a fun one but I think it might be my least favorite only because it’s so hard to do enemies to lovers in novella style. I need that angst 😂 I think the “I love you” and proposal at the end was just all too quick for a novella.
“Are you ready for me to reward you for such a good job, darling?” Somehow her grin grows, and she nods. “Yes, sir.”
As expected from this 104 pgs story, it was spice wrapped in a very antagonistic relationship, bratty attitude, and Christmas lights. Our hero, Mr. Chen, had settled as his lifelong goal to annoy the f*king soul out of his personal assistant and our heroine, Miss Cartier. And although there was the cliche elevator scene, surprisingly it wasn’t about being stuck in it until both our mcs snapped. In this case, Mr. Chen decided that he had enough of this mostly self-made situation, which led to some very fun and very …steamy times.
The book was entertaining and fast. My criticism relates to the s*xual tension. In my opinion, there wasn’t enough of it or it didn’t show as much as I would’ve preferred. Their relationship glided mostly to the annoying scale. Sure, there were cases, when both mcs had these “forbidden”, secret fantasies but there wasn’t any incident between them that wasn’t plainly irritating to both the fmc and me, the reader. I did enjoy it, but their story wasn’t as complete as in Hollows Grove, which was a perfect example of a short story.
Did I like it? It was fine. Would I reread it? Probably no. 3/5🎄 3/5🌶️
for real though, this was actually really good for what it was! i love a good boss/assistant romance, though i feel like i haven’t read enough. presley was a pretty witty and cute main lead (also her praise kink 🤝🏻 me) and lord knows i loved roman and his dominant ass. the aftercare in this was spot on as well! i wasn’t too sure what to expect from this novella, but i was pleasantly surprised and am definitely looking forward to picking up the other holinight novellas! *:・゚✧
5 FILTHY SPICY FIRE DELICIOUS STARS FOR THIS CHRISTMAS NOVELLA ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First of all, how the heck did the author managed to write such a perfect plot in less than 100 pages ?
This book is GOOD SO GOOD TOO DAMN GOOD 🤌🏻✨
Work place enemies to lovers, a whole lot of DELICIOUS sexual tension ( no kidding, this book had me YELLING)
Roman Chen is so intense, sexy and hella sweet. And oh he loves giving praises 😮💨 and also calls the girl with abundant of pet names. But nothing beats when he calls her "Ms Cartier" 😩
There is an elevator scene. Read it for this scene. Hands down the sexiest elevator scene I ever read 🔥
The 🌶 build up is soooo damn good. The tension between Roman and Presley is literally electric and fire combined.
Also please, Roman is dropdead sweet ( hint : 🍫)
And also this book is 🌶🌶🌶🌶 with a hell lot of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
I want Roman to call me "darling" & "good girl" too bye
Series so Far - November 2023 Lee Jacquot's Holinight novellas are my favorite works from her! 🥰 They're super quick reads (about 100 pages per book), all completely standalone, can literally be read in any order and are the best pick-me-ups if you're just looking for a quick smutty read to read between other things or for a rainy day. Each book has fun dynamics, with some history between the characters that's quickly laid out. They're all in the blurb, but I'll list them out here anyway at the bottom. Do note that some of them are taboo and quite kinky! It's always fun for me because then you really just dive into it and can get to the good bits. 👀
My faves tended to be the ones with dynamics I enjoy finding in other titles, to no surprise. The one that disappointed me the most was definitely book 7. Then book 3 also fell a little short for me, but much better than book 7. I'd say my top 4 so far are absolutely books 1, 2, 5 and 8.
Since there are eight now, I'm almost hoping that Lee will also consider using obscure holidays because I truly do not want this series to end. 😂 Really excited for book 9!
4.5 stars. I love this trope when it’s done well, and this was done extremely well. I’ve now read both of these holiday novellas this author has, and I’m officially in love with her writing. Mr.Chen is such a demanding asshole to Presley. And Presley is such a brat to get back at him for it that it’s almost adorable.
I love that in both of these books there’s a side character that sort of warns the FMC about the MMC’s very probable interest. It’s cute and gets the FMC thinking about it much more when otherwise she might still be trying to deny it.
The kink in this was light and a little subtle, but oh so effective. The power dynamic, and teasing and taunting is super sexy and makes for fantastic tension.
I really enjoyed this book, and I will most definitely be looking out for more to be released in the series. In the meantime I think I’ll be looking into her back log a little more, too.
So good. So glad my TikTok algorithm knows me so well these days.
So this is the third time my review and shelves for this book have disappeared. I'm reposting my review and I've reshelved the book, but I'm quite confused as to why this is happening.
********************
I LOVEDDDDDD this novella!
Enemies-to-lovers, workplace, alpha-hole, boss/assistant romance? Sign me UPPPPP.
Asian MMC? I'm here for the representation.
The chemistry was off the charts.
The smut was *chef's kiss*
The story is cute and brief, perfect for a novella.
LOVE THIS SO MUCH, OMG, I WANT MOREEEEEE. I'm excited for the next novellas in this series!
I don't do disrespectful, entitled Doms. And he's not even her Dom yet, which is even worst. Her chapters are just her saying how much she can't fucking wait to escape him. Girl, same.
This gave 50 Shades of Grey, with an even more fucked up MMC. The FMC was nice, and I get why she tried to keep her job and not complained, but I can't read about a woman being treated like absolute shit and knowing that it's about some fuck-turd, spoiled brat getting his rocks off. Because, yes, that's all the MMC was.
