What's a human male to do when he discovers he's the mate of alien royalty? Imagine finding the most wonderful man who's as madly in love with you as you are with him. Every frenetic moment spent in each other's arms brings you closer. Now imagine that same man professing to be not only an alien but alien royalty. And oops, the term "alien" is offensive so let's go with extraterrestrial.
Although, he's very hot and into me...Awkward Avery. But talks of me, a human male, being pregnant with his baby sends me bailing. I'm not up for that level of cuckoo. Nope. Never But would it really be that bad if it's true? At least if he's going to be an alien, might as well be royalty, right?
Alien Attraction is a sweet, sexy, plotty mpreg romance between an awkward virgin earthling male and his cinnamon bun extraterrestrial lover who gets snarly and deadly when his mate is threatened. This is an extended full novel of the novella which was previously published in the Taking a Chance: Charity Anthology charity anthology.
i’m a big fan of alien romance and i’m glad i read this. kyp is my favorite brand of a big caring marshmallow. he’s a protector but he’s also very soft. avery is more quiet but he’s not a doormat and i appreciated that a lot.
the beginning was super funny, i loved learning about the cultural differences and the writing was fast paced and honestly so good. but after the 50% mark things were definitely slower and a bit dragged out for me. i think this could have been a bit shorter and this is why i can’t give this more than 3 stars. but it was overall a nice book!
This was just boring for me. I had to skim even to finish it. I rarely skim a book. I like to read every word. I did it just so I could finish this book. The writing was fine , but the story was just too predictable. I really didn’t care much for Avery.
It was enjoyable, but it felt a tad rushed and had a pretty abrupt ending, in my opinion.
Avery is a sweet, kind 22 year old dog walker, just living his life, when one day a dog comes running up to him in excitement and accidentally pushes him into a fountain at a park. And who should save him but Kyp, a big strong alien disguised a human.
There's an instant spark of attraction, and Kyp asks Avery out on a date. They have plans to meet up that night, but Kyp has urgent matters to tend to on his home planet, as he's the prince of it and he's technically not supposed to be on earth.
3 months go by and Avery thinks he was stood up, but then one day Kyp gets in contact with him again and Avery is too sweet and wants to give him a second chance.
Kyp does tell him he won't be able to be around much, and what they have will be long distance, and Avery is too smitten to say no.
Over 8 months, they date, but only sporadically as Kyp has to keep going back to his home and deal with royal duty stuff, but he leaves when he can, as he's totally smitten with Avery too.
They start having sex, too, but one of the times Kyp is there, they run out of condoms, and Avery asks if they can do it bare, as they've both been tested and all that.
Thing is, on Kyp's home planet, males and females can get pregnant. They have Alphas and Omegas, although their kind hasn't has any new offspring in 50 years, as they've been forbidden to procreate by another species that came and took over on their planet to stop a rebellion that was happening under Kyp's father's rule.
Kyp doesn't think Avery is likely to get pregnant anyway, although he knows their is a small possibility. Still, he goes through with having sex with Avery bare.
But then he has to go back home and Avery is left on his own for months while his body changes to accommodate a pregnancy.
Avery starts to question everything about Kyp at this point, as he's been gone two and a half months, the most he's been gone since they started dating.
But when Avery lands in the hospital due to fainting from being pregnant - although he doesn't know that - Kyp eventually shows up and tells him everything he needs to know. Of course, Avery doesn't believe him and believes he's mentally ill.
But after he makes Kyp leave, the doctors there turn out to be bad guys, who kidnap Avery because he's the first cis pregnant make they've every come across and they want to study him and all that.
Kyp rushes back to earth to save Avery, and finds out what has happened, and here he reveals his non-human self to Avery for the first time.
I do think the story goes from Avery being incredulous and non-believing and being angry and mad at Kyp to him accepting everything when he realizes it's all real a little too fast.
Avery is not happy at everything, even after he just has no choice but to believe Kyp after seeing his true form, but when he has to be taken to Kyp's home planet for the babies, he just kind of gets over that pretty quickly.
Also I know Avery had to be there on Kyp's planet for the babies, but we didn't get much worry from him about Troy, his roommate and best friend, about what he must be thinking and feeling with Avery just...gone, for months on end. And then once the babies are born and everything is out in the open and he and Kyp can be free on Kyp's planet, Kyp kind of accepts that's he's going to be living on this other planet easily. Maybe it's because he can return to earth, I guess, it's not impossible for him to do so. But still, he seems to accept that his main home will now be on Kyp's planet fairly easily.
There's some drama near the end too with one of Kyp's ex-casual flings, but that gets resolved fairly quickly and then the argument that arose between Avery and Kyp was blown over real easily and then it ended really aprubtly.
I just wanted more for this story. I liked it, and I enjoyed Avery and Kyp together, especially in the first half of this story, but I think it just had several areas where it could have improved to be much better.
Enjoyable enough, but nothing special to write home about. Will still read more from this author, who is also Gianni Holmes, but this one just wasn't much of a win, overall for me. Good enough, enjoyable enough, but nothing more than a "meh" overall for me.
Unfortunate, as I so wanted to love this. Oh well, hopefully the next one I read of Gianni Holmes under this pseudonym will be better. Until the next one 😘

3.5/3.75 stars for me! Overall, I enjoyed this sexy fun story between Kyp, the extraterrestrial, and Avery, the human he falls for.
Avery is so sweet, I just adored him. He meets Kyp - who is disguised as a human but really is a prince from another planet. It's forbidden for Kyp to visit Earth, but he finds himself drawn to Avery and can't stop.
There is a lot of action in this one - from upheaval on Kyp's planet, to Avery becoming pregnant and not having the security of Kyp being there for him, to those who are against the two of them being together. There were a couple moments when things kinda threw me to go - "huh?" Like some decisions just didn't make sense.
Kyp and Avery had great chemistry together, and I really enjoyed when they were together on Kyp's planet.
This was a short story in a collection but has been expanded on, and I'm so glad we got a full length story. I would definitely be interested in more stories set in this 'verse.
I really enjoyed this one! G.S. Holmes is a new author for me, and I instantly became hooked on their writing. This was a sweet, sexy and low angst story. Nothing too crazy and filled with lots of tender and precious moments. I became instantly attached to Avery and Kyp. I also came to adore the side characters as well. I hope we will get another book in this series - I want to know what is happening with Troy and Jairu + I want Igo to find his mate. Overall a great read, and I will keep an eye on this author's future works.
4 stars. The world building was a bit confusing but I loved the story and the characters a lot. Avery is a human and Kyp is an alien alpha. I loved their relationship and chemistry with each other. I could’ve done with more development for both of them but given that this isn’t a very long read I wasn’t too bothered by the lack of it. The ending was great and sets up the series really well. Fun read.
The characters and their meet-cute relationship could have made it a fun story, but there were definitely some things I had issues with in this book.
It was a cute book, but some of the world building and such was not thought out very well or at least was not very clear in the way it was laid out. The plot holes really brought down the enjoyment of the book for me and I found a lot of the story telling and character interactions to be a bit juvenile.
Spoilers below... - - - - - The fact that Kyp knew that Avery being pregnant would put his life in danger... if he knew there was even a chance that it could kill Avery why would he take the chance?... It would have made more sense if he didn't know that Avery could get pregnant... The way it was written was like Kyp just put Avery at risk with no thought of it at all.
The way the human doctors related to Avery and the babies was terribly unbelievable ... for scientists that wanted information, they weren't concerned about killing their subjects.
I don't usually read scifi romance but I like trying new things and this book sounded very interesting. I'm really happy I gave it a chance because I enjoyed it very very much. I instantly connected with Avery, I liked his sweetness and kind nature. Kyp was intriguing. I loved learning more about him, his home planet and their way of living. The book was a romance but it also had an interesting plot that was not at all predictable. I was surprised more than once. A very well written and interesting book. I had a great time reading it.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review
Alien Attraction is the first book in Our Alien Mates series by GS Holmes. It's a human/Alien mpreg novel about Avery and Kyp. Avery is a 22 year old virgin when he meets Kyp. Kyp is from another planet, a prince from another planet.
I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written. Alien Attraction started as a short story in the Taking a Change Charity Anthology and is now extended which made me really happy because I really liked the short.
I really can't find anything fundamentally wrong with this one but there are couple minor issues.
It has been couple days since I finished the book and I can't stop thinking about it and I might even read it again (sign for me I liked the book a lot). The story was strong and really pulled me in. I felt every single emotion and cheered for Kyp and Avery (especially) since page 1.
The mpreg part was pretty believable (I mean if you believe in miraculous alien semen👽) and I found very believable Avery's reaction. Overall he was such a sweetheart🥰 yet very tough when it came to protecting what was dear to him.
Where the book fell short were the technical details. Like f.e. the time diferences between the two planets and time counting. It seemed like it worked every time differently. Point for trying - it iritates me when days or years are same as on Earth in all universe but here it was confusing. In one chapter was time on Earth slower to later be faster. Combined with big time-lapses I basically never knew how much time went off between each scene and to be quite honest sometimes it felt like the author didn't know it either🙊 Overall the aspect of the traveling was throwing me off. If I put aside that they were able to travel between galaxies! within hours, I found less than sensible the reason behind Kyp's short visits. I get it - it added to suspension but I think it would still make sense and probably was easier on following if Kyp visited Earth fewer times for longer period.
If you are able to put logic a bit aside or you are not prone to be irritated by lack of it then you will most probably find this book very enjoyable.
Maybe one last thing: while the main couple gets their HEA there is couple things that remain unsolved - like Troy or Kyp's brother but I'm not sure if there is enough to their story for whole another book...
Definetely worth a chance. Except the few issues I didn't find any part boring and I was totally immersed the whole time.
Likes: It had a plot without a cliffhanger and a HEA. Stars are awarded for these likes.
Dislikes: Dubious consent -Minus one star
Killing some people who can’t defend themselves is a “right” if they’re inconvenient to other, privileged people. Creeped me right out. Yuck. - Minus one star
Kyp “teases” Avery by threatening him constantly with pregnancy from sex when Avery’s last pregnancy was based on dubious consent and resulted in life threatening events where Avery was mostly abandoned by Kyp, tortured, and had to give birth without pain meds and without his birth plan. Kyp should stop teasing unless he’s willing to have a womb surgically implanted in his body and bear Avery’s kids in an environment where Kyp is intubated. (That’s a little triggering right after Covid). If any part of that plan where Kyp concretely puts himself in Avery’s place sounds scary to Kyp, then maybe Kyp should acknowledge he’s being emotionally abusive to Avery and stop it.
Additionally, there is a ton of wishful thinking about how soon Kyp should push his postpartum partner to be intimate after birth and lots more wishful thinking about how happy Avery is about it.
Kyp also messes up big time, and instead of having a real discussion with Kyp about jealousy, Avery guilt-trips himself for not being superhuman about reconciling with Kyp 2 days later, after zero effort on Kyp’s part to demonstrate how he’ll be upfront with Avery from now on about his former romantic relationship interests who are involved in Avery’s daily life.
-Minus one star for normalizing emotional abuse, romanticizing sexual coercion, and for championing Avery as he demonstrates having absolutely zero boundaries with a romantic partner who hasn’t been entirely faithful and hasn’t demonstrated with his actions that he has repented.
Kyp’s emotional abuse meant this book was not fun for me to read. I do not recommend this book.
Alien Attraction the Novel by G S Holmes is the story of an Earth human, Avery, and Kyp, the son of the King of Vasylu, a planet a billion miles away from Earth. Kyp occasionally goes to Earth, even though it is forbidden, because he enjoys visiting there, but it can only be for one night before he has to return or he could be caught. They meet when Kyp is returning a dog that stowed away on his spaceship and has taken him to a park before taking him back to his owner. The dog jumps on Avery and he falls in to a pond. When they look at each other they feel an attraction and Kyp asks him out for an ice cream. Unfortunately he is called back to his planet for an emergency and has to cancel the date. It is 3 months until he can return and he looks up Avery who hasn’t been able to forget him. He again can only spend one night. This situation continues as they become more infatuated with each other and finally ends up with them consummating their relationship. Kyp returns to Vasylu and Avery gets sick and can’t figure out why. His best friend and roommate, Troy, takes him to the hospital where they find out he is pregnant which he does not believe. Neither can the doctors who are treating him and they end up kidnapping him to find out how he could be pregnant. Kyp rescues him and is thrilled to find out he is pregnant as it has been a long time since anyone on his planet has produced a baby. He takes him to Vasylu where Avery finds out he is a prince and soon to be King and has to deal with his family and the Emperor, as well as Kyp’s former lover. More problems ensue that they have to solve together before they can get their HEA. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Holmes slowly built their relationship as well as the heat level. The characters were interesting and their emotions realistic. She also had action that kept you on the edge of your seat in several places in the story. I also liked the side characters and the way they were loyal to Kyp and Avery and helped them when they could. All in all this was a great story about an very imaginative world developed by the author. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to reading more books by Ms. Holmes.
Very Long Distance Relationship I was so surprised to learn that Gianni and GS Holmes were one and the same. I recently read and loved NOT HIS OMEGA TO LOVE. While I had read 👽 Alien MM romances in the past I had no desire to do so again or so I told myself.
On a whim I downloaded this book after just finishing TO NOT FALL FOR MY DOC, and found myself truly enjoying the storyline, the author's writing style, as well as the character development and world building. I love the premise of Humans not knowing male pregnancy is possible but this story took it a step further.
The Alpha MC was gone throughout most of their relationship. The comparisons and advancements of Alien technology versus that of Earth's was often amusing. I felt so bad for the Human MC being kept in the dark for so long especially throughout most of a very difficult pregnancy.
His supportive best friend and roommate was great. The drama, adventure, intrigue, shocks, danger, violence, and love made for a great impreg story. I enjoyed reading this book so much that I immediately pre-ordered GS Holmes' next novel SAVING THE OMEGA'S CHRISTMAS. She even had me looking up other Alien MM Mpreg romances that I'd intentionally skipped over.
Thanks a lot GS that's all I needed more categories of MM romances to add to my towering and titering TBR pile
This story may have been a little on the short side, but it was absolutely packed with action, drama, and romance. Avery and Kyp's relationship progressed so quickly that I barely felt like I knew them before they got swept up in pregnancy scares and politics. I'm not opposed to romances that are on the plottier side, but I do wish I'd been able to connect with the characters more. I struggled to understand how they were so sure they were in love when their on-page dates were barely shown and hints of tenderness and affection were all I got before their lives took a drastic turn. I think I would have enjoyed the story more had the beginning taken a slower paced approach instead of throwing life-threatening pregnancy, alien politics, and family betrayal into the mix all at once. Don't get me wrong--the chaos made for a fascinating and captivating storyline, but it was at the expense of me getting to know and love the main characters. Every time I thought Avery and Kyp had finally caught a break, some new scandal would crop up and send them back into fight-or-flight mode again. I was endlessly surprised and entertained by their journey, and I did enjoy myself from start to finish, but I didn't buy into Kyp and Avery's soulmate connection.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
In general this book as "ok". It's your "typical" M/M, human meets alien, alpha/omega, active/passive book. My biggest complaint is that I've read this book before. I'll probably read it again. That's "fine" I just want a little something new. Something different. Something I haven't seen before.
The alien MC is the alpha. He literally has every advantage. He's better then the human in every way. The human MC is the omega. He's lesser then the alien in every way. He has no real agency in the book. He's very passive. He's basically the "damsel in distress" the entire book. Male or Female, I don't like passive MCs. He might be intended to be a man, but he's really not.
There were several conflicts in the book. Each was really handled very quickly. The problem was basically presented, then solved in the next chapter. There was also no real "overarching" problem. Just a few big problems that were handled very quickly and didn't show up again. Not that the human MC did much to solve them.
As critical as this all might sound, the book wasn't bad. I'm glad I read it. If there are squeals I'll probably read them. The book was just honestly nothing new. It hit all the tropes like there was a checklist. I also hate passive characters.
When I heard that one of my favorite authors was writing an alien mpreg book, I was ecstatic. This combines quite a few of my favorite tropes. It did take me quite awhile to get into the book, however. The world-building was a lot all at once and I found myself rereading portions to make sure I understood how things worked. Add to that Kyp's disappearances and I wondered why Avery still gave him the time of day.
I liked how Kyp and Avery met, but would have liked to have seen them actually interact more before Avery was in love. By about the 70% mark though, I was all in and wanted to see how Avery would assimilate to life on the extraterrestrial planet. I did enjoy seeing Kyp stand up for Avery with everyone firmly letting everyone know that Avery and his children would come first.
I also liked the subplot with Troy. I certainly hope that we will see his story come to life very soon. I want to know what is happening there. I would also like to see a glimpse into the future to see how Avery and Kyp settle into "married" life with their children.
I first read this book when it was a relatively short novella as part of an author giveaway and, since then, there has been quite a large expansion done, in particular adding a lot more to the end of the story. I think that this extra detail really helped with the world development and allowed me to better imagine the planet where Avery finds himself living with Kyp. Both together had great chemistry and there were some steamy scenes as well as romantic moments. There was also an interesting subplot beneath all that which kept things engaging and made it less predictable to read. I think this version is much more in depth; you get a better sense of the characters, the ending is more satisfying and the secondary characters also play a bigger part. I would definitely recommend this book to others if it is a genre you enjoy. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
When a slip into the pond, leads to Kyp being his rescuer, Kyp becomes someone Avery cannot get off his mind. But, Kyp is not all that he seems to be and keeps on slipping in and out of Averys life. When faced with life changing consequences of their relationship, Avery and Kyp will have to face a challenging journey of new worlds, politics, scandals, kidnappings and more if their love is to lead to forever.
This was an unexpectedly good read at times and not so good read at times as well. Kyp with his poor communication and his desertion of Avery at points in the plot really irritated me. Avery was a bit of a naive sweetheart who finally takes a stand for himself towards the end of the story. Overall, this was an entertaining plot. 3.5 stars for me.
I love some alien vs human confusion, the secrecy and the different kind of customs. It all builds a good story, and who doesn't like a surprise pregnancy, one that was suppose to be impossible. Troy was a good friend that took everything in stride, and I'm sure his book will be dramatic because he is a larger than life character. I'm also curious about Igo and if we get his story. There is plenty of sexy times because carrying alien offspring does something to the libido apparently. I would have loved more world building, like how their food was.
The story starts off nice enough but doesn’t show any parts of the life of the protagonists except for their interaction which makes for rather flat characters. In my opinion a very kitschy story, not to my taste after about the first half which was ok. Sadly, there’s no character development even when the living conditions change drastically.
What is good about the book is that the grammar and spelling are good. For me, that’s important.
I love mpreg books but, as a rule, am not a fan of sci-fi books with aliens. I decided to read this book because I really like the author’s non-mpreg books. I am so glad I took a chance on it! Really unique world building and I loved the characters. I love books with surprise mpreg so that was a nice touch. The baddies are super bad and the omega goes through some really tough situations. Absolutely a five star read. So hopeful we get another book about Troy!!!!
This book rocks! The story of Kyp and Avery is fun, sassy, sexy and a whole lot of fun to read! They embark on a crazy journey of love, filled with scheming brothers, supportive best friends, and intergalactic travel. Kyp will bring Avery to his home against the current rules but their love will conquer all and they will get to remain together. There will be bumps along the way and trouble with someone from Kyp’s past but in the end, they will work out their differences and come together in a way that leads them to their happily ever after.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
I liked the second part a lot better than the first part. The MC’s first meet was very short and there was too much insta love, because they fall in love while they barely know eachother. Abery was very sweet but I can’t tell you a lot about him. The second part, on Kyp’s planet, I liked a lot better. Little bit of drama as well (which I love). Easy, light read. The sex scenes were hot.
I know I have read this story before, and I guess some of you may have too. This is the same story but slightly expanded so still worth the read. I don't usually like mpreg stories, but Me Holmes is a favourite author of mine. I liked the chargers and the fact that the story flowed and didn't drag. Would recommend
GS Holmes takes us on an unusual journey. Kyp has come to Earth to see if its people are more compatible than they had been. Kyp's home planet needs children, so he looks to see if there are people to breed with successfully on Earth occasionally. Avery is a dog walker who runs into Kyp at the park. More correctly, Kyp's dog runs into Avery -- literally and knocks him into a pond. While helping Avery out of the water, they each feel an enormous attraction to each other. This attraction grows even though Kyp can only come to Earth every few months. Follow along as GS Holmes takes us on an interplanetary trip to find these two adoring characters' HEA
Whenever Kyp was talking I saw him as Harry from Resident Alien, especially rhe way he spoke when he first met Avery. I hope there will be more to this series than just the one book as I am sure there is more to be to,d.
The story is a new take on the alien mate theme. Baby's and royalty, kidnapping, and banishings. Through it all, the one thing that holds true is the single-minded devotion between the two MC. A must read!!!
I really didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. Alot of times the story can get a bit silly, but the author kept the story going and made it almost believable. Fun to read. Recommend reading.
