Real life Jesus: Meaning, Freedom, Purpose

Rate this book
Forty pilot whales lie stranded on Darlington Beach, Tasmania. Marine conservation biologist Andrew Irvine knows he must act fast . . . The Bible teaches that as the whale was made for the ocean, men and women were made for God. Our relationship with him is the environment in which we are free to be fully human. Author Mike Cain unpacks Jesus' claims in John's Gospel and shows us why they cannot be sin, forgiveness, and restoration affect us personally. With humour, originality, passion, and sensitivity, Mike asks us to look again at Jesus―the real-life version, not the caricature.

The opening illustration does so much for the book, it's a shame that we don't return to it more often. Bitty and chatty at points but I liked it, mostly. Fave chaper was 'Bread for the Journey'.

Good for getting back to basics.

From the opening story about beached whales being restored to the ocean, this marvelous book had me hooked. A brilliant exploration of the fullness of life that Jesus offers - drawing from key passages in John's gospel. I have already bought another copy for someone who is exploring Christianity - I can think of no better introduction to the gospel as truly good news.

I've just read Real Life Jesus for the second time. And it's just as good!
