Many young Amish girls' idyllic dream was a romantic buggy ride at Christmas.
But for Esther Miller, the thought of it was nothing more than a nightmare. When Moses King starts showing an interest in Esther, she refuses his advances. But inside, she is torn. She wants a family of her own. But she has secrets that stop her from taking that critical first step in courtship.
When Esther arrives late for work during the busy Christmas season, she finds herself helped by Jake, the son of her tyrannical boss. The handsome Englischer offers Esther everything that Moses can't. However, Esther's best friend Hannah decides to play matchmaker. As she tries to help her friends, she slowly unravels why Esther behaves the way she does.
This Christmas, can Esther lay to rest the horrors of the past and find true happiness and peace?
This book kind of hit home for me. My daughter passed away leaving two children behind. I'm still raising the girl. This book wouldn't let me set it down, even for a moment. Wonderfully written. Beautiful love story. Nove clean Romance. Hannah, you've hit my heart strongly, yet again.
Esther has an almost irrational fear of something very Amish. Riding in a buggy. No one can figure out why she keeps turning down rides from the man who desires to court her. When she’s late for work a few times, her boss’ son, Jake starts giving her rides in his pickup. Sadly, Moses sees them and takes it as them dating….
Who knew that the buggy ride Esther avoided would come on Christmas day in time to welcome two boppli's into the world. A calm trip to the birthing center.
God is so good. This was a true Love story, it was a tragedy that was keeping them apart but thru the Love of Family and Friends and God’s Love brought them together. Praise Him Always.
Very good reading. Strange how things long in the past can affect our lives. Hannah did a good job of keeping the story interesting from start to finish. Good book for any age.
This story although similar to many Amish stories has a different twist. Ester likes Moses. She even told her friend Hannah but she continually refuses a buggy ride with him. How will they ever be able to court?
The sadness of losing your parents when you were 4 months old. Thankfully her grandparents raised her. She liked a boy but was scared of buggy rides since that was how her parents were killed. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
I liked this book's storyline. This book's storyline was sad 😔. I liked Esther's character. I felt sorry for Esther. I liked Moses's character. I liked the ending.
