COUNTERFEIT is defined as a fraudulent imitation of something else, a forgery.
Surrounded by counterfeit money, counterfeit relationships, and counterfeit friends, Que and Rae have something real.
Most people love money; they love each other. Their love is destined. The day their lives collided wasn’t an accident; it was kismet. It was supposed to happen.

Charity!!!!!!!! Sis!!!!!! Who are you?!? The person that wrote this series CAN’T be the same person that gave me Kree and Jackson!! Nope!! It CAN’T be the same person that gave me Dom and Zoree!!! I refuse to believe it!! 🗣️Charity!!!! What was the reason for that cliffhanger?!? Did you add an extra scoop of goon to your morning coffee when you were writing this story?! I have no words!!!
Whew let me regain my composure because I👏🏽AM👏🏽DONE👏🏽!! Que and Rae formed a bond at the tender age of 13 and 15. Bound by mutual trauma they became each other peace, refuge and solace. As they aged, their love became deeper. More solid! Unfortunately, like the title, everything outside of their bubble was counterfeit. The snakes were snaking and folks were faker that a $3 bill. There were a few that could be trusted. For Rae that was Aisha and for Que that was Ant! These four had a tight circle that seemed impenetrable but sadly bum äss Linford found a crack!! Let me say this……Jamaicans are crazy and Ant should’ve known this!!!!!!!😭😭😭Didnt he see Shottas like everybody else!😓😥😰
I know I said Tiff was at the top of my unalive list but Keshia 🗣️COUNT YOUR MF DAYS!!!!!! I want her death to be slow and tortured and even that is too kind for her snake âss! I’m already deep into book 2 so let me see how this all comes together!
There is no Que without Rae and no Rae without Que. The development of their love story was beautiful. Rae is living in a house of hell until she meets Que, who is dealing with a major loss. Que vows to protect her and does everything in his power to make sure she is safe. Their friendship remains intact for years before they can’t hide their attraction.
As their love story develops, they are supported by Que’s Grams and his best friend Ant, along with Rae’s best friend Ashia. However, everyone isn’t happy that the two are together. Jealously leads to a string of life changing events. Revenge leads to relationships that shouldn’t have been formed and hidden deceit. Rae and Que maneuver their lives as best as they can with so many counterfeit people surrounding them. They are determined to come out on top and still in love.
There was a lot packed into this story. I was rooting for Rae and Que from the first moment they sat in the park together. Even though they were young and dealing with tough lives, I love how the author didn’t rush their romance. I loved how Rae, Que and Grams healed each other when they came together. They all deserved happiness. I was glad Ashia put hands on Keisha but more still needs to be done. While I understand what Ant was trying to do, he should have listened to Que. I was so mad at him by the end of the book. Revenge has to be served, so I know Linford’s days are numbered.
Charity! Damn Gurl…… You just upped the ante with this here thang! You grabbed me in the beginning as my heart broke for Rae, and then Que as they endured their individual traumas. You made me feel like I know these people chile, and I was rooting for them! Awww…. Grams! 💔 Then, things started to get interesting as Que began to come up, bringing Rae with him. Jealousy, greed, envy, revenge and just plain hate started to show in their camps, unbeknownst to either Que or Rae! My heart raced from about 70% to the end of this read, as I knew some ish was bout to go down! That damn Keisha! Why Que didn’t you take care of her snake ass in the beginning? Now, I hope you can get things back right with Rae! Ughhh…. 😡 Ant! Que is yo boy, and instead of having an adult conversation with him about money, you make a deal with the devil? 🤬🤯 Ma’am you snatched my damn breath at that ending! Noooooooooo........... What the hell? I knew Linford was ruthless, but his ass is savage for that ish! 😡 Lawd! I can barely type right now, I’m so keyed up about what I just read! Poor Ant! Poor Rae! I feel a war brewing and it will be epic! Loved it! Great read! 👍👍👍
WTF THAT ENDING… I’m speechless like this is too much. I have so many questions… it’s crazy I was rooting for Que and Rae but the prologue warned us. I love the backstory and details on the characters. Snakes left and right I hope in book 2 everything is handled wow.
This was a lot of story for 288 pages. And so far probably my favorite from this author, which is saying a lot because I would’ve said “One Eighty” was my favorite prior to finishing this book.
But Que, Rae, and Grams stole my heart.
Sometimes too many things going on in a story can be overwhelming and too chaotic. This book didn’t have that problem, because it all focuses on the same thing. The hateration is real and flowing throughout.
I can’t wait to see how they deal with this in book 2. But I have to say, I see why this book was on my feed a lot last year. So glad I picked it up and dusted it off the TBR pile.
OMG, this book had me hooked. Que was lost and simply existing until he finds his "Gray Eyes" he and Rae become best friends, they save each other. For a while, they go through the motions until Que realizes that life isn't complete without Rae being his completely. Their journey is tough and challenging, especially when the suffer a loss and Keisha (Que's placeholder for Rae) decides that she needs to prove a point. However, revenge opens the door for the Wolf of Jamaica, and when he realizes Que's loyalty is unbreakable- he decides he best friend Ant is the reach-around! Ant doesn't realize his deal with the devil down in Jamaica will costs him more than he owes. The snakes are really slithering in this book! Keisha, Rome, Tab, Lindon, even Ant...Tab and Ant I didn't see coming. Can Que and Rae survive all the betrayals, set-ups, and death too? I guess I'll run to book 2 to see. Happy Reading Y'all, this is definitely a good one!💋
Now how you gon do wrong and get mad when a natural consequence sets in? Ant, you should have just been cool and trusted your friend. Goodness I need Rae and Que to get it together.
I literally am just flabbergasted! Que silly ass could have told Rae from the get about thus bs. Then they wouldn't be in thus predicament. I feel sorry for Aisha because she was just a pawn to a game that was never meant to be played fair. Had her silly ass bd not been so bull headed he would have been in a better place. This shit really got me in my feelings.
I Loved The Book (the bomb 💣💣💣💣), I Loved Rae & Que's Friendship Went To A Bomb Loving Relationship. But Que Getting Caught Slipping Is Jacked Up.....That's Damn KEISHA🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
This book was everything I can’t wait for the next book. I couldn’t put it down though. I can’t believe that Ashia is dead though Ant is going to take it hard and I believe that it was his fault though.
If you like stories that delve into friendship, connections, and blossoming love…and cuckoo for coco-puffs enemies and messy, jaw dropping treachery, this book is for you. My only complaint is the third person POV paragraphs. It took me out of the story…I am not a fan.
I don’t know what my girl was sipping, watching, or thinking when she wrote this but Lawd have mercy!! There is so much going on that had my mouth hanging open. Immediately on to book 2.. IMMEDIATELY!!
This series focused on a young couple who came together when both were at their lowest. They both experienced trauma in one form or another whether physically or mentally or emotionally. I think the story moved really well. I liked the backstory on the characters. They also did a good job with providing relevant content for the plot and characters.
For me, there was an emotional disconnect. I struggled to connect with the characters and their experiences whether it be a sexual scene, a death an argument, the 3rd party pov (omniscient) style takes a lot of the emotion out of it for me. For example, the death of one of the pivotal supporting characters was simply a footnote for me. I would’ve loved to experience the devastation with the characters instead of being told about it.
All that being said, this one critique doesn’t take away from the author’s skill which is the reason for the rating.

This book is 🔥, I really like Que and Rae's relationship. I can't wait for part 2, hopefully the author has part 2 coming soon. That cliffhanger is everything...
I think I would have liked the book if it wasn't writing differently. The third person just didn't work well for me and the book was kind of strange compared to the title of it.
I loved the way this story came together. It’s not the usual writing style I’m used to but it still worked and I can’t wait until the next part comes out.
