The survivors, with an unexpected last-minute change to their travel plans, move toward Fort Carson, Colorado in search of answers. It is a thousand-mile journey that provides unforeseen opportunities, unexpected losses, and tangled alliances. They must find the strength to endure the worst that the startling new world has to offer and to survive with their humanity—and lives—intact.
Along the way, they find colorful friends, bewildering enemies, and things more deadly than any of them had dreamed possible. They know that at the end of the journey, they stand to gain valuable information that will help their communities survive in the future, and perhaps even the answer to the virus itself.
Is it valuable enough to be worth heartbreaking loss…especially when they find that the end of their journey isn’t what any of them had expected?
A. L. Masters lives in rural America. She studied business and enjoys cooking, hiking, and photography. When she's not dealing with more mundane matters, she can be found hidden away with her laptop and a mug of coffee. She writes apocalyptic stories to satisfy her craving for adventure and disaster (without the risk of death).
So far, this series has lots of action, suspense, twists and turns. The characters continue to be compelling and fascinating, while the mutations of the virus continue to shock and intensify. The choppy feel has faded, while the multiple POV's flow smoothly. I very much look forward to the next book in the series. -ncv
Enough is enough with this series of books. I eliminated The Elimination. While the author is definitely talented in her writing abilities and does believe in editing her work, it is her characters that finally annoyed me to the point I couldn't finish book 4 and trashed the entire series, never to be read again. Why authors insist on placing a supreme asshole as their main character is beyond me. Jerred is the supreme of supreme assholes and his mouth and idiocies finally made me close this book. The author completely unleashed him in book 4 and everything that spilled out of his mouth was a smartassed comment about something insignificant, who cares. On top of that, his awful teenage romance with Anna just got more sickening as time dragged on. And did I forget Jerred's sister, Kate? A little realism goes a long way with me in the books I read. But to take an interior designer who has been generally meek and mild, then turn her into a female Rambo who don't take crap from no one in the span of a few days just blurs the lines of believability. She instinctively knew how to operate a select fire M4? Among all the other weapons? Yeah, right. These characters were forced and ill-begotten with little regard for any hope of realism. Jerred talking his incessant garbage to hardened soldiers would realistically make his life span shortened in a more realistic world. And his sister? Nice try with the female Rambo, but she was an interior decorator turned instant badassed killer who gets in furious spitting matches with every male she meets? I ended this book last night and I'm still wound up about these characters. Maybe next time, try and add some realism and for heaven's sake, drop the never ceasing mealy-mouthed, smartassed main character. And teenaged romances between adults in the apocalypse just flies in the face of reason. I most certainly did not like this book or the series.
I started on book one and the story got better with each book. The world has changed a plague got out that changes some humans first into biters and then mutants. Very uniques story line and interesting. Anna and Jared started this apocalypse together and gave been battling side by side with friends to stay alive and find Jared's sister Kate. Highly recommend this series and look forward to the next book soon I hope
This is really a different take on the and of the world as we know it. All the different mutations are insane! I am enjoying every moment. Jared and Anna and their motley crew of survivors never stop amazing me. Stop what you’re doing and start with the first book! You are sure to love this series as much as I do!
Fourth book in the plague series. Our intrepid band of misfits battle their way to Cheyenne mountain. Read about their encounters and the struggle to survive another day
I swear, everytime I think the imagination of this author has pushed the last possible boundary - they manage to take it even further into left field with things I would have never been able to envision!
