I checked out this book to read Tagore's poetry but it included a great deal more than: travelogues, letters, short stories, autobiographical information, conversations with Einstein and other noted men, fables, drama, his thoughts on the future of India and on education. There were large sections on art and literary criticism and philosophical meditation. It also included excerpts from letters to him from Albert Schweitzer, Robert Frost and George Bernard Shaw.
Indian author Rabindranath Tagore’s (1861-1941) profound and wide-ranging thoughts on literature, culture, education, colonialism, faith, and much more through his letters, essays, plays, short stories and poetry. Tagore is a thinker I had not encountered before, and the expanse of his wisdom plus the depth and fire of his compassion have truly moved me.
