Why are the Protagonist Gong and Shou Fighting Because of Me?

Rate this book
Tang Bai was born into a wealthy family. His body was soft and slender, and he loved to act spoiled. His family searched far and wide to find him a handsome and rich prospective fiancé. However, the prospective fiancé liked independent and strong omegas and was very resistant to this business marriage.

One day, Tang Bai’s brain short circuited, causing him to believe that he lived in a book. He was the cannon fodder shou, and his prospective fiancé was the protagonist gong. The protagonist shou, Xie Ruhang, was a strong, independent omega of the new era who pretended to be an alpha. In the future, he would become a marshal and the light of the omegas.

No wonder the love-filled bento that he worked super hard to make was rejected by his prospective fiancé who didn’t even look at it. Tang Bai’s eyes reddened as he turned around. He saw that Xie Ruhang was eating the horrible tasting training meal. How could the future light of the omegas eat this kind of devil’s cruise that was fed to the pigs?

Tang Bai shyly said: “This was personally made by me. Us omegas need to pay attention to our diet and take care of our bodies~”

Xie Ruhang: ……?

The first time Xie Ruhang saw Tang Bai, he thought that even when this omega cried, he was still like the omega of his dreams. Although Tang Bai was virtuous, delicate, beautiful, and cute, he already had a prospective fiancé!

Xie Ruhang expressed with grief: “I won’t be the third party.”

Tang Bai was extremely moved, thinking that Xie Ruhang had already become good sisters with him and wouldn’t come to steal his man. There was a saying that Alphas were like clothes and good sisters were like one’s hands and feet. Don’t worry, I will definitely take good care of you!

Xie Ruhang: ……

Very soon, Xie Ruhang heard a rumor. Tang Bai’s prospective fiancé hated Tang Bai, but he couldn’t defy the orders of his family, so he could only create trouble for Tang Bai everywhere.

Xie Ruhang: This is the omega of my dreams that I want to hold in the palm of my hands, and you actually don’t cherish him?! tr*sh!

Xie Ruhang: Isn’t it just stealing a man? So sweet.

Tang Bai found out in horror: Why are the protagonist gong and shou fighting because of me?!

Tang Bai: Oh! They must have a love and hate relationship!

first off I KNOW ITS AN OMEGAVERSE, i don't really like it but this book is an exception i promise 😞🙏.

But yeah this book is actually so good. The translator was good for like a third of the book and then the translator changed. It was fine but they would break up each chapter into twos which is kinda frustrating especially when it makes the updates go a lot slower. Regardless of that though, this was a really enjoyable read. The main character is really likable.

But first, let me explain how the omegaverse fits into this. In this world, omegas are severely oppressed. They're just treated like birth machines and are expected to stay home. There's even an etiquette school that omegas are expected to go to so they're good partners to their alphas. Speaking of alphas a majority of them are horrible and so conservative. The main character, Tang Bai, is an omega who is forced into a marriage with someone but he suddenly realizes that he's a part of the book and he's just a cannon fodder (side character). He realizes that his fiance is the main lead and Xie Ruheng is the main character. The book ends really side with the fiance treating XR badly and he ends up dying and is called the "light of omegas" because he's the first omega to join the military. He basically fights for omega rights. So TB makes it his mission to take care of XR and make sure he doesn't fall in love with the fiance.

I really liked this book because it's really focused on the politics and oppression that people face in this world. The "omegas" is basically a reference to the struggles women face so I felt really connected with this world. I loved how Tang Bai fought for omegas' rights and wouldn't let anyone bring him down. The romance is a really slow burn. In the book, XR is an omega and ends up with the fiance so TB never really sees him in a romantic light until someone else happens but NO SPOILERS. But they do end up getting together around chapter 80/134. their romance is just so sweet. TB thinks that XR is flirting with the fiance when in reality dudes obsessed with TB. AHHH IT GAVE ME BUTTERFLIES. XR is such a green flag, he'd do anything for TB and he was the only one who supported him from beginning to end it's just so sweet. I haven't finished this yet, but they did end up together and I just wanted to write this review in case i end up not finishing it. IDK whenever the couple gets together I always end up getting bored with the book. I did feel like some parts dragged on though, especially in the beginning. But it definitely speeds up. Another thing i liked about this book was the intricate details of mechas and the futuristic machinery. TB is so talented and is like a whole genius but he's just treated like an idiot just because he's an omega and is expected to stay home. But yeah, this was pretty enjoyable and I liked it! I recommend if you like plot-focused novels with love interests that would do anything for each other, details about the military, and also sometimes social media because TB becomes like the leader for the whole omega movement and is kinda famous. There's also some miscommunication if you like that stuff, TB literally thinks XR is an omega for most of the novel. I recommend!!

This was a great book, but it did drag in parts, and I wished the side characters had more resolution. I felt like many of the side characters didn't end up having happy endings, and instead were there to varnish the main character's halo (the perfect set up for a transmigration turn around).

I thought the morals in the story were very nice - it makes the abo setting tolerable. However, the author really likes to hit you over the head with the idea of gender and class tolerance. And I think the "one person changes the world" is not very realistic. If you take a look at things like the feminist movement, you'll see that there's often a figure head, but numerous people paving the way. In a book, having one person make such a big impact adds to the novel, but in real life, there is no way the change could have happened in a vacuum. I guess Bai Zhi represents all the people who pave the way.

This moralizing made the middle of the book a bit tedious, especially as the premise of the book gets wrapped up. But I persevered until the end, and I do think it picks up a bit by then.

Very fluffy novel, no smut. Kinda light-hearted with a tiny bit of angst? mostly cute , funny and fluffy.

MC is abit OP, being able to dabble in many things.

A read that can grab my interest.

4/5 chance of reading again.

Omegaverse. Mecha. Military school. Social justice. Competition.
3.5⭐ Good. Cute. But an other case of an author starting strong then getting overwhelmed and not knowing what to do with the rest of the story.
