Even heroes get lonely…

Book 1 - Ranger Hank
Hank Schatz faces the end of his military career as an Army Ranger. The enormity of the next phase of his life looms like a grey cloud overhead. He’s kept a part of himself from his family, especially the demons he fights in his dreams, but when he meets a Special Needs school teacher—his sister’s teacher—he has decisions to make. He’s tired of being alone. When Reed Bayless breaks through Hank’s fog, Hank begins to wonder if this man can help him find the right path to a bright future.

Book 2 - Guardian Gabe
Former Army Ranger Gabriele Torrente lives the life most would envy, but when a little boy and his younger sister walk into Gabe’s place of business and ask him if he’s their father, life as he knows it blows up in his face! After meeting Dexter Carrington, the children’s uncle, Gabe isn’t sure he wants things to go back to the way they were. With the Carringtons in his life, he begins to hope his lonely days are only a memory.

Book 3 - Cowboy Shep
Demolition’s expert, Shepard Colson lives a quiet life, working with a group of people he considers his extended family. His days in Special Forces are behind him, but the memories of a life he loved but lost has left him lonely. Learning a former brother-in-arms has been killed, Shep’s sense of compassion leads him to Georgia and to Parker Howzer, a young chef who doesn’t know the extent of the trouble coming for him. Shep vows to be Parker’s protector and support system, and in the process of trying to suss out who is after Parker and what they want from him, Shep finds that being around Parker keeps his loneliness at bay. What does he have to do to keep the young man around for the future?

I grew up in the rural Midwest before moving to the East Coast with a dashing young man who swept me off my feet, and we've now settled in the desert of Nevada. I write M/M contemporary romance, subgenres: sweet low angst, age-gap, cowboys, mysteries, and military/mercenary to name a few. I am a firm believer in "Love is Love" regardless of how it presents itself, and I'm a staunch ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I have a loving, supportive family, and I feel blessed by the universe and thankful every day for all I have been given. I’m old enough to know how to have fun, but too old to care what others think about my definition of a good time. In my heart and soul, I believe I hit the cosmic jackpot. Cheers!

This review is very biased. I got the box set and only read book 1. But I absolutely hated book 1, tl the point of wanting nothing to do with the rest of the series. The second star is an apology to the two books that didn't get a chance, but Ranger Hank was too much torture for me. It got one star. I then went to the reviews of book 2 and saw several people who liked book 1 didn't like book 2 and decided to choose self love and sanity and set this aside. I couldn't make myself even try.

I tried to give these books a solid chance

I got 70% before I gave up, so I didn't get to the last book.

The characters are more complex than most romances I read. They have their good points, but are sometimes proud of their own poor behavior.

The spelling and grammar is fine, but the stories include a lot of flashbacks, which can be confusing. Also, the plotting is unexpected. When you think the book is over, there is a new conflict.

If you're looking for a sexy story, these aren't really it. Both the books I read are more slow burn. There is some sex, but the stories are not about that.

The thing that bothered me was when an ex-Ranger decided to get violent with someone who hadn't hurt him or anyone he loved days before his wedding. The character had previously made a big deal about how his business worked legally. It was the last straw. I don't think it's sexy to be that out of control.

Three m/m romances

Three books revolving around characters that work for the American branch of an Italian protection service company. Gabe runs the company in the U.S. He battles the mafia keeping his love interest and his nephew and niece from being used as pawns in an attempt to find a huge amount of stolen drugs. By the third story we are combining bodyguards and cowboys to handle a really big scandal in the U.S. Army. All the stories are plot and character driven instead of an over abundance of sex which I appreciated. The sex is there it just moves the relationship forward instead of being the focus of the book. Very enjoyable and well written.

Excellent Storytelling

Sam has taken the first 3 of The Lonely Heroes Stories and combined them into a box set. Excellent value. Love each one of these stories, but I think Gabe's has been my favourite thus far. I'll let you read and choose your own. Each one has hot sex scenes, Lots of Action and suspense, and so far they have all received their HEA.

Definitely 5-star All the Way!!

Exciting

Out of the three books so far this was by far the best. This was very well written and edited. Not too much extra unneeded dialog and explanation. This was part mystery and love story as Shepard Coleson goes to meet the son of a man he greatly admired who was killed. Instant attraction and concern for Parker Howzers safety keeps the two together. Together the unravel the mystery into his father's death while Shep does whatever he needs to keep Parker alive.

Good Series

The first book starts out fairly calm in tone and storyline, and then progresses into a military themed action story. The remaining two books continue the same intense military/security team themes. Lots of action, some dubious characters, and the good guys win in the end. An enjoyable, entertaining series.

Romantic heroes

I'm impressed with the series so far. The portrayal of the official attitude of the military toward LGBTQ service members felt spot on. Ill definitely be reading more of this series.
