This world is governed by technology and magic. Society sees one as a chaotic necessity and the other as a mundane reality. A detective who investigates both in search of reason. Meet Lyam Lachance, an amoral detective who will work for anyone who pays enough. Joining him are Camille, a trickster who uses her powers to get what she wants, and Jean-Jacques, a techie determined to become something more. Can Lyam outwit the devil himself? Can Lyam save himself?
3.5, rounded up. Strong central plot, solid main characters (protag even gets something of an actual arc which is rare for a self-publishing debut), decent worldbuilding, some execution issues - I don't believe the author's writing in their native language, so that's likely a factor, but this could definitely have used a few more drafts and probably a pro content edit or two. There's also some technical issues but I'm not sure if those are stylistic or just unintentional formatting problems (eg there are no paragraph indents on my Kindle).
