Disclaimer: as a contributing author to this anthology, I am, of course, biased. But I can happily say that this is a collection of stories I'm proud to be a part of.
Without too many spoilers, let me tell you what you'll be getting into with this anthology:
THE SHADOW QUEEN by Charlotte Langtree: A fun, fantasy-adventure take on a warrior Cinderella
HANS AND GRETTA by S.A. McKenzie: A spine-chilling near-future Hansel and Gretel
UPON REFLECTION by Barend Nieuwstraten III: A "Snow White" prequel, told from a surprising new perspective
HIS BLUE BEARD by Lauren Marrero: Steampunk. Bluebeard. (These ideas!!! I'm just!!!)
A CURSE OF RED by Danielle Davis: Little Red Riding Hood, but, like, SHE'S the wolf. (The ending to this one kicked me in the guts.)
THE ALCHEMICAL GODMOTHER by Elle Hartford: A unique cozy mystery set amongst magic and fairytales
CAT AND MOUSE by Mindi Briar (that's me!): A bloody post-apocalyptic Puss in Boots retelling
LILA by Arwen Spicer: An interesting modern/future(?) take on Peter Pan, with some mythology woven in.

These stories may bring you the nostalgic feel of fairy tales, but they also may not be comfortable as they are twisted sometimes for the better and sometimes not so much. For example, we are shown a Red Riding Hood who will kill anyone to break a curse, a vengeful child abandoned by his mother to be raised by demons, a Neverland past its glory days, and many more.
If you dare, grab this Anthology and investigate a different turn of events than what you may have grown up listening to. Let your imagination run wild as you give these authors the chance to impress you! And just for fun, try to guess what original fairy tale they are re-working into something new and different for your entertainment!
