While I found this book offered a lot of solid and practical advice, it wasn’t anything original and I’d heard it all before. Some of the language used in the book sounded judgemental and unnecessary (referring to homes as gross, items as crap and shit etc). I understand that the ‘point’ is some kind of tough love, and I appreciated that aspect of it, and I’m not sure telling people their homes will be infested with rodents and insects if they don’t immediately go and scrub every single crevice is as helpful as it was intended. For me, that just increases the anxiety most people already feel about living in a messy and cluttered house. I am a lover of planning and lists, but the whole idea of having to make a plan / list about every single aspect of decluttering a home - listing every item of clothing etc. seems really excessive and time consuming. The reflection part of it all really wasn’t for me either. I just don’t have the patience for that, but that’s not to say it wouldn’t work for others. Overall, I’m glad I listened to this audiobook, and there are a few little quotes that probably will stick with me, but I’m glad I didn’t pay for it, or spend time filling out the huge number of lists, worksheets, reflections etc that were expected of a reader. Decluttering is hard enough work as it is, and for me, this book added to the workload.
It gave me the where with all to tackle my cluttered life & home!
I liked the "down to earth language" and the reality of doing something rather than thinking or procrastinating about taking action. The "Tips & Hacks" to accomplish the goals of Decluttering are very useful and appreciated🤗 So are the affirmations through out the book about the accomplishments we, the readers, are doing by following the "plan" & staying on tract. Thank you.👏👍
The bad part of this is that this is an ebook. I can’t fill out the worksheets or print them. And this is a KU read that I most likely won’t buy because it’s more clutter. Hmmm.
Anyway, I liked this author’s style a lot. She (I think) is very funny and witty, so I’ve enjoyed reading it. Again, nothing really new but I’m still inspired to do my clothes and my pantry in the next several days.
I found this book to be an exceptional work and study . Very well written and kept my attention and my humor at a roar. I bought the book to prepare to assist a senior friend in clearing out 50 years of clutter and found myself learning a lot. Great job highly recommend
I loved this book. I consider myself the queen of disorganization! I live in clutter but after reading this book, it gave me several hacks that I used to help me get organized along with less clutter. This is a great book to have, and I definitely recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thought I would love it more... as the advice and practical guidance of the ADHD organisation book was great. However, it felt a little tedious "Planning" decluttering and having to do reflections about sorting items.... maybe it's the ADHD procrastination or the avoidance. But I just didn't feel motivated to plan this. Maybe I'll come back to it another time. Sorry Kai.
This decluttering book gives an overview of decluttering. Choosing some of the other books may give one more information about the different aspects of decluttering and organising one's home. Decluttering by genre is an interesting concept to use to manage decluttering.
I obtained this book through my Kindle unlimited program and I'm sure glad I didn't pay extra money for it! There swearing in this book! I wanted a book to help with decluttering not to get cussed at.
I really liked the different approach to decluttering. I really could do without all the swear words. I would have rated it higher if it was cleaner. Funny, and it's a book about cleaning!
A fun read and how to book about more than decluttering your home. I liked the lists and their prompts. I enjoyed the thinking about it parts too. That was a bit harder, but necessary. This book was a new approach that was desperately need in my home and in my life.
This book and it’s free workbook left me not so overwhelmed that it was like I was frozen so I would eat meals out that I really couldn’t afford and I’m hoping with all the work will be easier and not so stressful
I find it funny that people actually need a guide to stop being in essence slobs. I guess it’s a need and there is some good exercise to learn to be organized. If you can’t organize your home your life is probably a mess to. Get this book and put it to use!
If the hoarders had a book club, this would be on of recommended lectures. I like how the books underlines not only mechanical tasks, but also allows you to dig deeper and self-reflect. I am going to play now a role of a sexy librarian - one of the tasks in the book ;)
I don't have an issue with curse words, but it seemed like the author was using them to just use them. Once or twice a chapter I would have been okay with, but just way too much.
Simple and a lot of suggestions to help you get things in order. I enjoyed this author and would read another book from author. It was fun and truthful journey.
