SLOANE
I moved to LA to get away from the life, and I thought I’d succeeded. College, law school, and plenty of sunshine. Beaches, books… and a gun always in my purse.

Because when you’re the only daughter of one of the biggest mafia Dons in the country, you don’t get to just walk away. Even when you move to the other side of the country.

The problem is, you just never know when the son of your father’s enemy is going to show up… and start following you.

I thought I was going to have a peaceful Santa Monica Christmas. Instead, I have a new fucking shadow, and I’m constantly looking over my shoulder and trying to figure out if Joseph Rossi is here to shoot me in the back… or rekindle the friendship we destroyed five years ago.

JOSEPH
Santa Monica at Christmas. California in the winter. And my first business trip for the family.

If I do it right, this could be the biggest deal of my career. Proof to my father—and his men—that I’m ready to move up in the organization. Start doing my own thing.

But of course there’s a wrench in that plan. Of course there’s a complication.

Sloane. Fucking. Brennan. My childhood best friend. The girl I’ve been in love with since I was a kid. The girl who nearly got me killed five years ago, and who I haven’t spoken to ever since.

She’s not my problem. She’s trouble, and she’s going to ruin my shot at finalizing the deal my father sent me out here to negotiate.

But when I realize that she’s got a shadow—some guy dogging her steps with his hand inside his coat like he’s got his finger on the trigger of a gun—I realize one more thing.

She might not be my best friend anymore. I might not have any rights to her. But I’m going to be well and truly damned if I let anyone else lay a fucking finger on her.

*A Very Rossi Christmas is a dark mafia romance in short story form, and includes violence and mature sexual themes. If you’re triggered by guns, sex, rape, or murder, this isn’t the series for you.

This book felt longer than its 80 pages but not in a bad way. I really enjoyed this and was certainly left wanting more.
Also I didn’t realise it was a prequel. It is and Her Romeo is out in February. And I’ll be keeping my eyes open for its release.

Sloane and Joseph were secret best friends growing up. They never stood a chance since they’re from opposing families. Her father is one of the biggest mob bosses in New York. His father is the other and the families hate each other.

So when these two accidentally meet after a five year gap. All kinds of feelings are exploding between them.
I really enjoyed this one. Not the ending obviously because it’s left ready for Her Romeo. But the rest was good.
Don’t let my rating put you off. I’m a bit stingy with my stars and this was only a short prequel.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

"The daughter of my father's enemy. And the girl who would always have my heart."

This is a prequel to be read before the first book of the series comes out next month. This was a short story but it was TOO SHORT 😆 I wanted more and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more! This was a really fun short story and a great beginning to a new series. I loved the dual POVs that let us get to know Sloane and Rossi more. I have actually never read a "mafia romance" before, but I definitely think I'm a fan now.

Read if you like: Romeo and Juliet forbidden love vibes, "touch her you'll die" trope, romance and some spice.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮 Spitfire Press [an imprint of Glass House Press] and Quinn Marlowe for the opportunity to read and spotlight this ARC!

What happens when the girl you grew up loving crosses your path unexpectedly in adulthood and you realize that she is in danger? You swoop in to save and take the girl yourself if only for a day! An intriguing novella to start the story of Sloane and Joseph in a modern-day Romeo and Juliet theme with dark overtones as well as a steamy physical scene tossed in to really get you hooked! I can't wait to read the full story and see how it unravels!

I really enjoyed this book, I read it in about two hours. It was very short, but it is a short story/prequel that is leading up to the first book in the series. I'm very excited about the first full-length novel in the series because I know there's going to be a lot of emotions, it's going to be a complete whirlwind.

I think that the characters are pretty likable, except Caleb (If you've read it, then you know why) The romantic and sexual tension that is between them is so strong and it's definitely going to make for an amazing, crazy book 1 in the series.

I wasn't a fan of the ending, but it is setting up for the first book... sooo i'understand.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a beautiful short story of 80 pages , if a story is like this i'm eager to read full book!!

The first book (which I thought a book but a short story of a book) I have ever read in which there are two narrators and mentioning the narrator in the starting of each chapter ....from whose perspective we are going to read in that particular chapter makes reading easy and interesting.

Sloane Brennan , daughter of an Irish mafia in New York, spending her Christmas break from law school on santa monica beach in LA with her friend, Brooks Peterson and her eyes met with someone she had never expected, Joseph Rossie, her earlier best friend but later turned into enemy (oldest son and heir apparent of other biggest mob in Newyork).

Joseph Rossie, who thinks sloane brennan is "not my fu*king problem" but still protects her, worries for her and loves her till the end of the story. By reading the epilogue I felt sad because ending of the story but felt happy after few seconds because it is not the end of Joseph and sloane's story. Looking forward to read full book!!

Thank you netgalley and publisher for providing the ARC!!

Thanks to Spitfire for the opportunity to beta read this book. Suuuuuuch a good start to the series. This isn't a fully fleshed-out plot, as it's just the prequel, but man does it give you a taste for what's to come. The chemistry between the H and h is through the roof and I'm sitting on the edge of my seat for the first full-length book!

Oops, I didn’t clock that this was a prequel until I got to the end, the MCs had barely talked, slept together once and then it’s the ending and MMC is on a plane leaving FMC behind. The book was mostly rehashing the same things—I can’t tell you how many times “childhood best friends” was mentioned—and very little plot.

Thank you to the author and the publisher who let me read a copy of this book!!

“The boy I’d once counted as a friend no one else had known I had. And the boy my father would have told me was my biggest enemy”

“The only girl who had ever made me want to cross family lines and leave business behind me”

Even a month later, sometimes you need those Christmas vibes to remember that it was there … and if they come with a sexy, hot mafia romance even better!!
The son of the New York Italian mafia boss and the daughter of the rival Irish mafia family, sent away from that life to become a lawyer in LA, find themselves together after five years … what could happen you ask??
Well apart from the fact that they were friends but , because of enemies family, they became enemies … you all can imagine where it will take you!!

“Especially when I wasn’t even sure whether she and I were friends these days … or enemies”

This story was great. The book was fast-paced and the writing-style easy to read, and the tropes … well the friends to enemies to lovers was just the beginning of it !!
I loved it and if you’re looking for a quick romance read, more than worth your time, I’d suggest you go and start reading this one now … especially if you want to know how the story goes … in February!!!

“A need to possess her. An overpowering need to make her mine”

“It also didn’t justify the thrill that had run through me at how close he was. Or even the bigger thrill I’d felt when he admitted that he was worried about me”

This is an Anniversary Edition prequel, and this is Sloane and Joseph’s story,
Sloane moved to LA to escape her mafia life, while Joseph is the son of her father’s enemy. This story covers how these two became friends, until it ended.
This is a quick read, with family, friendships, intrigue, action, danger, stalking, kidnapping, angst, tension, and violence, which leads to an addictive dark mafia romance.
Sloane and Joseph’s story continues in “Her Romeo.”
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

It's a short but great beginning for the prequel of the upcoming first book in the series Mafia Rogue: Rossi Chapter. The book lays the foundation for the stories of Sloane Brennan and Joseph Rossi, daughter, and son of two rival mafia/mob families of New York, in Her Romeo. It's a dark mafia romance very well written. I already feel that the sexual tension is going to be very high between the two of them. I already like it from the short scene in the book. I don't want spoiled but I would definitely take the place of Sloane in the men's bathroom. I loved to read the dual POV. We get to know more of each other thoughts and themselves.

I will definitely suggest reading it before Her Romeo and I'm curious what will happen next.

This short novella/prequel is basically a teaser for the upcoming first book in the series... its sets the stage for Sloane and Joseph's story in Her Romeo out in February 2022.

Sloane Brennan is the daughter of the Irish mob boss in NYC, and Joseph Rossi is the oldest son and heir apparent to the Italian mob in New York... they use to secretly be best friends as children until their circumstances torn them apart on the night of their high school graduation. In the five year since, Sloane has distanced herself as much as possible from the family business as she studies to become a lawyer. Joseph, on the other hand, leaned into his role and is working to become his father's right hand man. When a chance encounter in LA, where Sloane has been living, leaves the pair fighting the emotions they've been worked hard to ignore all these years, they find themselves fighting for not only a chance at a future together but their safety.

This ends on a cliffhanger, ensuring you'll read the full story. There's Romeo-Juliet style mafia romance if that's your thing, good girl-bad boy trope, and steam.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ebook ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this one. I liked the dual POV; you get the story from Sloane's perspective and Joseph's perspective.

The main characters are from rival families; their fathers are the mob bosses of each family. Sloane and Joseph were childhood friends but had kept their friendship secret while they were growing up. This is a forbidden love romance.

The love scenes are open door.

Since this is the beginning of a series, some issues are left unresolved. This is a novella, so I am assuming that there will be more character development in the full length novels from this series.

This was a fun, quick read, and I look forward to reading more from the series.

Sloan and Joseph were born into feeding families. Both of them wanted to be the best mob family and would never allow anyone from the other family to associate with the other. When Joseph was 7 he saved Sloan from being run over by an ice cream truck. After that they became best friends all in hiding. They knew they would be in huge trouble if they were ever caught together. On the day Sloan graduated high school they were out together and were caught by Joseph’s dad mob family. Joseph was beaten badly. Since then they both grew up and went their separate ways. Present day Sloan is in LA getting ready to take the Barr exam. While she is taking a little time with her best friend to relax on a beach she sees Joseph for the first time in years. Joseph takes note of her and also notices that Sloan doesn’t have security guards to protect her like she should. He then sees a guy is following her. He takes matters into his own hands and ends up saving her from her crazy ex who was following her around. The both had always loved the other but never expressed their feelings. They let a little bit out after Joseph helps save her live and then she wakes up and he is gone. Their story will be continued in book one when it is released in 2022. I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Quinn Marlowe does a great job of grabbing your attention with the first few sentences and pulls you in.

The story of Joseph and Sloane is a friends to enemies storyline where they were beat friends but their fathers were enemies and once they were found out the did not see each other again until 5 years later.

Their run in was a complete accident and they both new that they needed to avoid one another but fate had other plans

Definitely a great quick read! Can not wait to read the next one!!

A Very Rossi Christmas was a super quick read, but I didn't fall in love with it by any means. This book sets up the next book, Her Romeo, nicely, which is the biggest reason I originally started it, but I did have an enjoyable time so I'm glad I picked it up. If you're looking for a mafia romance that's a little bit on the lighter side, I would recommend this series.

TW for sexual content, attempted rape.

Mafia romances are definitely my guilty pleasure. I don't read enough of them but when I do, I'll read a whole wattpad book and become engrossed in it for hours on end. This book is no different. At 80 pages long, this is a short prequel to The Rossi Family series. This story follows Sloane, daughter of the Irish Mob Boss, and Joseph, son of the Italian Mob Boss as they reunite for the first time since they graduated five years before.

Sloane and Joseph's families are enemies so this definitely gave me Romeo and Juliet vibes (just without the death and very concerning age gap) which I am here for and absolutely loved. I read this story in an hour and definitely wished it was much longer. I am probably going to start reading Her Romeo once this review is published and I'm so excited to read the emotional whirlwind that this is going to be and see if my theories do actually come true.

Thankyou so much to bookstagrammers and Quinn Marlowe for providing me with an ebook copy in return for an honest review. Book 3 of this series titled 'Her Hero' is released on Tuesday 28th June.

“One does not forget Joseph Rossi”

The storyline was good!! It hooked me right away and flowed well!! I love me a mafia story and one that is forbidden is a bonus. They are the prince and princess of the New York mob. They were also former-best friends-slash- crush-child of the enemy and secret partners in crime. If anyone ever found out that they were even friends they would be no more. An ex/stalker brings them together once more just to be separated all over again. And that’s where it leaves you hanging!

The parts that brought the star level down was there were a couple different times things were repeated more than once! And another part where it ended one chapter on a little cliffhanger and usually the start of the next would kinda pick up where that left off but this one started and I had to reread it to understand what exactly was going on at the moment. Other than that everything else was good and I will definitely be reading the next book to find out what’s going on!!

I received a copy of this book from Book Boyfriend Buzz, and this is my honest review.

Short and sweet yet full of hot temptation. This is the first in a series and many ways will keep your attention with a cliffhanger. One thing for sure Sloane and Joseph are not done which makes you wonder how will they get past the rivalry between their families. There was a couple of things I felt could have been expanded and yet in a way just seeing this little bit between these two shows what is to come in book 2. What I saw of Joseph you can tell he is a man who has never forgotten about his best friend. Seeing her again of all places and near to him makes him know they are meant for each other. Now Sloane can understand why she just wants to have normal life considering who her family is. These two definitely have more than a chance meeting after all these years one thing for sure they are not done. Definitely interested to see what Quinn Marlowe will do with these two family and Joseph finding out what Sloana has been up to.

I really enjoyed this prequel and can't wait for "Her Romeo" coming out in February.

Sloane and Joseph were secret best friends until they graduate.
They never got a chance since they’re from opposing families: Her father is one of the biggest mob bosses in New York and his father is the other. As conclusion? the families hate each other.

So when these two accidentally meet after a five year well you can expect feelings everywhere and out of control.

I loved dual POVs (if correctly done, you get into all characters without any problem or feeling lost). In tis novel it was a plus to know better Sloane and Rossi.

If you like Mafia Romance, it's a most real new serie.

If you like Romeo and Juliet forbidden love vibes, "touch her you'll die" trope, romance and some spice please feel free to get this book and pre-order the volume 1 😉

Thanks for Bookstagrammers providing me this free copy!

Sloane the daughter of the head of the Irish mob in New York is now living in California getting far away from her family and Joseph Rossi the boy she grew up with and fell in love with only to find out that they can’t be together because he is next in line to take over his father’s family the Italian mob. So, she is surprised when he arrives in L.A. and is equally surprised to have the same feelings for him as in the past.
He wanted to see Sloane again the only girl he has ever loved and who also was his best friend. Upset that she moved across the country he is not surprised at how beautiful she has turned out in the past five years. The feeling for her is still there for him and though they each know they should not be together they can’t help but do just that by being together. A short story that at a few times drags a little in a few places. I did like the characters this also ends on a cliffhanger so be aware. I received this book from Netgalley.com

This one was fun to read, but I think I would've enjoyed it more reading it after the main books. Then I would've a better connection with both the main characters.
But it was a good set up for 'Her Romeo', we meet Sloane and Joseph, both children of the biggest mob bosses in New York. When they were younger, they had to keep their friendship a secret, and even meeting each other was a challenge, since their family "owns" part of New York.

But they haven't seen each other for years, so when they accidently meet, feelings go all over the place. Especially since Joseph developed some feelings for Sloane, and realizes that she is in danger.

It was a great set-up, but I would've loved more history about their relationship and more about the mob bosses in New York, that would've created more depth I was kinda craving for. However, as said before, it is a good set-up for 'Her Romeo'.

I actually read this book after Her Romeo and it brought more insight to our main characters in this mafia series. So friends, do yourself a favor and read this book prior to the actual series unlike I did. ;) Though, if you read it after, it’ll just fill in gaps and will probably make the first book more enjoyable.

What I liked about the novella is that you can read the sexual tension between the two main characters, which is something you expect in a friends to enemies to lovers trope in a mafia series. I say this because I didn’t get much of those vibes in the first book. This novella is short (as they are) and a fun fast paced read that I kind of wished there was more, but obvious to see why it’s not.

I also want to thank Bookstagrammers and Spitfire Press for sending me a copy of this. :)

A short prequel to the Mafia Rogues series following Sloane Brennan, the daughter of the Irish Mafia Don and Joseph, son of the rival clan.

This was a very quick read, and fun for what it was! I enjoyed the dual POVs and getting to know the two characters and their feelings towards one another. I'm a big fan of the forbidden love trope, AND friends-to-enemies-to lovers so I'm here for this. I'm definitely intrigued to pick up the first book as we are left on a bit of a cliff hanger.

This is the story prequel to this series. It is a quick little read and will leave you wanting more. This is the story of Sloane and Joseph. It has a bit of a Romeo and Juliet feel to it. Sloane is the mafia princess who is spending Christmas break for college on Santa Monica Beach in LA with her friend Brooks from school. She is having fun and being as carefree as she knows how when she looks up and sees the one person she never expected to see Joseph Rossie. At one time they used to be best friends until they weren't and she now considers him the enemy. That is about all I can tell you. I don't want to give anything away because this book is so short. I liked reading it and can't want to get the first full book and see what happens.

This is a must read!

This book was the perfect amount of world and character building for you to fall in love with the characters and still be on the edge of your seat wanting more! This holiday novella is a wonderful introduction to the Brennan and Rossi Mafia families, and I am so flipping excited to read the first book in this new series. Honestly I was on the edge of my seat finishing this book up and when I got to the end and saw there was going to be more to their story I screamed. I am so happy this novella will continue on, and am really looking forward to the next book in February.

A Very Rossi Christmas is a dark mafia romance by Quinn Marlowe. It is a prequel to Her Romeo which will be released in February 2022. I can not wait! I read through it in no time, because it reads so easily and you keep curious. I give the prequel as far as a 4/5.
The delightful story is about Sloane and Joseph. Sloane and Joseph were secret best friends growing up. They never had a chance together because they come from opposite families. Her father is one of the biggest mob bosses in New York. His father is the other and the families hate each other. After five years of no contact, they unexpectedly run into each other again in LA over Christmas. How that ends....
