A South Side Love Story 4

Rate this book
Tricey would have given anything to have a simple relationship filled with moments spooning with her man as he watched sports, cooking dinner, and petty disagreements- rather than drugs, murder, and federal investigations. However, for the past year, Tricey has been happy with the dope boy housewife lifestyle. Yet, it wouldn’t be like right unless Blood’s secrets come flying out of the closet and turn their happy home into a war zone.

Lyric has finally found the one. Yet, now that her love life isn’t in shambles, her biological family is threatening her sanity. Vic is finally settled into her own skin. She may not know who her father is, and she may be single, but she is so content and focused on bettering herself that, finally, love unexpectedly finds its way to her in the most unconventional way.

Now that Star has found freedom, she still feels imprisoned- IN HER POCKETS! Her embedded hustler mentality is itching to get back out there and make this schmoney. However, the threat of violating parole puts her between a rock - being broke - and a hard place - making money in the wrong way. What’s a girl to do when she is forced out of her Red Bottoms, into prison garb, and, now, back into hand me downs? As she takes the road that leads to financial freedom, she stumbles upon the biggest roadblock that threatens not only her freedom, but her life.

Tricey, Vic, Lyric, and Star return with an emotional roller coaster that will leave your head spinning. In this finale, watch as all of the lies and betrayal comes crashing down. Lessons will be learned. Time will heal old wounds. And unforeseen tragedy will force some to finally do what’s right.

Author of Urban Chick Lit, Erotica, and Contemporary Urban Fiction... Jessica N. Watkins was born April 1st in Chicago, Illinois. She obtained a Bachelors of Arts with Focus in Psychology from DePaul University and Masters of Applied Professional Studies with focus in Business Administration from the like institution. Working in Hospital Administration for the majority of her career, Watkins has also been an author of fiction literature since the young age of nine. Eventually she used writing as an outlet during her freshmen year of high school as a single parent: “In the third grade I entered a short story contest with a fiction tale of an apple tree that refused to grow despite the efforts of the darling main character. My writing evolved from apple trees to my seventh and eighth grade classmates paying me to read novels I had written about kids our age living the lives our parents wouldn’t dare let us”. At the age of twenty-eight, Watkins’ chronicles have matured into steamy, humorous, and realistic tales of women's literature. She hopes that The Epitome of Femistry series will successfully emulate ideal femininity while tackling stereotypes, familiar heartache, and relatable distress in a humorous, sophisticated, and erotic fashion.

The Bold And Self Destructive

The whole series was a jumble of misfortune, bad decisions, horrible life choices, and ghetto attitudes.

***** Spoilers****

There were way too many POV characters and all of their situations were horrible. The series starts on a high and never recovers. The characters never redeem themselves or learn anything and they make mistakes trying to figure their way out of situation and then make the same mistakes again.

The book introduces all of the characters on a high note then they down spiral from there.

Lyric started off as a successful hairdresser and shop owner and ended up a submissive women who needed a man to keep her in check. Lyric was probably the only characters that tried to do things differently after running into issues. The whole “yes daddy” thing was really just so disappointing.

Tricey was another successful hairdresser and shop owner and she devolve to a codependent d-boy’s main chick housing and running drugs for her seemingly bad luck boyfriend. Blood got jammed up way too many times to be considered big time to me.

Vic was an influential (arguably) school counselor helping teenagers figure out life. she spiraled down to a functioning coke head who couldn’t keep a man.

Star was a young college student with multiple hustles that took care of her kid. She transformed from a high dollar escort to a five dollar hoe.

Nothing was off limits to disrespect. Children, parents, relationships, self worth and respect were all attacked and no one redeemed themselves over the course of 4 books. I wouldn’t recommend this series.

THOUGH I LOVE & TRY DESPERATELY TO SUPPORT THE AUTHORESS JESSICA N. WATKINS' WORK, THIS SERIES MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STICK TO THE TASK OF THAT.
ADMITTEDLY, I'M BASING THIS REVIEW ON HOW ANNOYED I'D BEEN BY HOW THE CHARACTERS WERE SUPPOSEDLY BROUGHT TO LIFE VIA THE NARRATION, OR "PERFORM"ANCE BY THE NARRATOR(S), I JUST COULDN'T TELL WHICH CHARACTER WAS WHICH BECAUSE THE "PERFORMER"/NARRATOR USED THE SAME EXACT VOICE FOR ALL THE FEMALE CHARACTERS AS WELL AS THE SAME HEINOUS 'DEEP' VOICE FOR THE MALE CHARACTERS THROUGHOUT THE SERIES, WHICH-FOR LACK OF A MORE RESPECTABLE WORD- SUCKED TO SAY THE LEAST!
PLUS, I CONTINUOUSLY FAILED TO FIND THE 'LOVE STORY' WITH ANY OF THE CHARACTERS ON THE SOUTH SIDE IN THE ENTIRE SERIES & CAME AWAY WITH HOPING THAT NO ONE WHO READ THE SERIES WOULD CONFUSE WHAT WAS ERRONEOUSLY THOUGHT AS 'LOVE' IN THESE STORIES WITH WHAT REAL LOVE TRULY IS.

Good series

I would really give this series 3.5 stars, just because it should have been a solid 3 books at best, a 4th was pushing it, there just was not enough new things happening. Random things mentioned and never came up again. I cant say any of the main people were my favorites. Tricey was just as bad as Blood except for his work and the Mauri issue she cheated just as much. Vic was functioning thats it, Lyric was ok, she just liked certain things and Jee was the one to give it. I wanted Star to win, she was good. I went with 4 stars on the strenght of Jessicas other books, I love her writing, and will always pick up her work.

Good

It was good, but it wasn't as good as the earlier installments. I felt like this one had random "chapters" placed in various orders in an effort to keep it engaging, but it felt disjointed on some of the chapters. There were also some things that didn't line up ***SPOILER ALERT*** like tricey's pregnancy just fading into black. All in all a good story and the ending was definitely satisfying the organization was just a little weird for me.

Great Finale

This was a great end to the series. I was so happy for all of the girls and how their love story ended with the exception of Tricey. I really would have chosen the other guy for her. Star is the MVP and Deshawn is my new Boo because he let his heart lead him instead of worrying about what the streets would say! Jessica Watkins you did not disappoint!

glad it’s over

I will say this isn’t one of my favs I read it bcz it was very entertaining and drama filled but damn if they didn’t have unnecessary floods of drama. I will say that I’m glad they all grew I. Some sense so they could move in past the nonsense. I did hope there would be more but seems like thief’s is it!

Happy reading

I loved these characters. Fell in love with each one. This last book took me through it emotionally. I would have liked a lil more on the ending for each couple. Regardless this series was another banger by Mrs. Watkins. Take a bow Queen because you DID THAT!!!

huh?

All of this for Tricey to end up the dumb friend. Lyric and her relationships were all over the place. Glad Vic found peace. They all jacked over some good men. Star a real one but the risk wasn’t worth it to me.

Alright I made it to the final Book. I will say that this series was well written per usual. Happy that Tracee and Blood figured things out. That Star got her happy ending. Definitely enjoyed the ending but I was already thinking that it would end that way

Hands down, you're a G.O.AT!!

I have never been so sad for a series today end, even if the characters give me high levels of anxiety.

This could not be my life, but the way Jessica N. Watkins wrote the ish out of this finale, makes me want to do it all over again.

Great series

This was good to the last drop. I will admit I was a bit confused in chapter one due to the characters names changes. I finally got the names right and couldn’t stop reading until I finished the series. Love the characters and the redemption.

Hella ride

Tricey. Lyric. Vic and Star! This was wild ride. 3 friends living f$%*n learning. Childhood friends stumble through a hard life. Living in Chicago being a dope boys girl is hard. Living a secret life is hard. Infidelity is hard. A south side love story is just that

The characters development stalled in this book. The ending wasn’t what I expected and not in a good way. The first 3 books are awesome. This one is meh.
