When I read about Ali (now Abouna Basilious), Michael (now Father Michael) and Elijah during their Egypt Missions, it moved me too much.

“Does the baker not love her?…

He loves her so deeply. He loves her because if he didn't place her in the oven, she would become a dead lump of dough. She would have been thrown out. She would not have become a beautiful korbana. She would have missed out on being offered, chosen, blessed, broken and given as the body of Christ. She was being prepared to become Christ Himself. She was being prepared to be broken and given for the life of the world.

My dear Elijah. You are in the oven! You are being transformed into an offering for Christ. Don't be blind to the baker's way. He is purifying you. He is transforming you into bread. Living bread. For you too are chosen. You too will be blessed and broken and given for the life of the world.” p. 383 (Volume 1)

Now I have to do a full character analysis on every single character in Earth and Water. So many Abounas! Admittedly, I started getting confused at the end. But I will probably spend the rest of this year analyzing the first two books (need to take a break before reading the last two), watching videos and reading reviews, trying to wrap my head around what I just read. This is going to be a journey…but it’s just too good to be rushed.
