Kinsley Wilson is having a tough week…

As the leader of a prominent local Coven, she's overseeing a massive Beltane Festival in her hometown of Coventry. Everything is going great until a dead body is discovered.

The nature of the crime seemingly makes it evident that a witch committed the murder.
But, she is surrounded by hundreds of witches, both familiar and strange…

To make matters worse, the victim happened to be a vampire, and a Royal Conclave of bloodsucking jerks shows up to give Kinsley a hard time.

Some rogue witch decided the festival would be the perfect place to do an unsanctioned blood ritual. Now the vampires are breathing down Kinsley's neck, and she has days to find the killer and turn them over before the snooty, undead royalty take things into their own hands.

Oh, and her best friend, who isn't even a witch, somehow got herself crowned Flower Queen of the festival. Nobody is ever going to take Kinsley seriously again…

Except for her familiar, Meri, he takes everything a little too seriously. The snarky black cat loves his family more than life itself, but that doesn't stop him from grousing about idiots around him.

Between ornery familiars, ticked off vampires, and her duties as a mother of two beautiful girls, Kinsley has her hands full.

When you add in some family problems, plus a bunch of witches who are partying a little too hard, Kinsley will be lucky to make it through the week.

She'll need Meri and her husband, the hunky Sheriff, as well as her motley crew of family and friends, to help her solve the crime one spell at a time.

Great Book

This is a really great read. The twist and turns keep your attention and characters are worth getting to know. Excellent read.

Disappointing

I've read and enjoyed this author's work. The premise of this book is intriguing and offers many possibilities; unfortunately, the promise is completely failed. The writing is disjointed and distinctly juvenile; there are too many continuity issues (trapped in another dimension, but available at a moment's notice); the characters, as well as the mystery, are rather bland; no explanation is given for the big reveal; and it is rather poorly proofed/edited. Certainly disappointing from an author who has shown better!

Beltane Bewitchment

Well, the 17th book, is cute, but not quite up to the fun of the the previous books. You can tell Sara has been busy elsewhere. Not enough of Bonkers, one of my fav characters. Needed more craziness to make it pop.

This book opens with morning chaos at Hangman House. Kinsley can't find the book she needs to open the Magical Festival today. It's also the grand opening of the new police station. So, everyone is a bit flustered.

After Thorn leaves for work and Laney and Hekate are in her mom Brighton's capable hands, Kinsley gets ready for her day. Of course, Meri has something to say about everything before she gets started.

Kinsley makes a stop at her shop, Summoned Goods and Sundries, to look for the all-important book. The shop is busy both in the tourist and witch sections. She didn't see Reggie, her manager and best friend. Reggie was decked out in a gorgeous gown, she planned to enter the Flower Queen Pageant. The pageant is for witches, but that wasn't going to stop Reggie from trying.

Before Kinsley could start the incantation to open the Beltane Festival, a scream interrupts and a murder scene unfolds. Thorn and his deputies come to investigate and do what they can.

To make matters worse, the victim, Torin Rathmore is not only a Goth Influencer, but also a vampire. This puts the murder in Kinsley's jurisdiction.

We meet an interesting potion witch with a raccoon familiar named Luluanne.

Then the vampires come to town, royal vampires. Lothaire was in charge and the victim was his brother. The demand is simple, three days to find the witch who did this and turn her over to him.

There are plenty of twists and side stories, laughter, fun and suspense too.

I'm already reading the next book.

Being the head of a large and powerful coven, as well as managing a massive Beltane festival does not prevent a working mom from having to juggle priorities and time.

With two daughters in grade school leaning towards wanting to be independent teens long before they even reach double digits, life gets even more complicated.

Throw in an added assortment of a mundane mayor with no alleged awareness of the supernatural, criminal activity that ranges between supernatural and mundane, and the snotty, snarky and normally greedy and power obsessed collection of women and witches that tend to gather near strong ley lines, drama and chaos inevitably follow.

one thing is clear: anyone with responsibilities as a cat slave is already aware they always seek to maintain their dominant status. bacon and belly rubs all the way if you ever want any backup or support from them - or if you just want to avoid more drama from them. they always win, and have generations if shared knowledge on how to mastermind their needs and goals.

other species of familiars deserve attention as well or more trouble follows.

another exciting time in Coventry.

A Fun Light Read for a Cold Hard Day

This is not a great book but it's great at what it trying to accomplish. A superhero hiides out as someone so mild that you'd never guess who or what it was. It follows the exact format for the witch, mysteries with a tough big city cop come to a small town to get out of the noise and stress of day in day out loud angry and often violent city. In the end, mystery solved with a little knowledge and lots of magic and ends in a Romance. I don't usually read this genre but it's great for lazy days or days of laying in bed or in the hospital. Fun, light and slightly romantic.

I tried...I really tried

to finish this book, but it simply annoyed me to where I just couldn't stand one more page about food...who was hungry, where they were going to eat, what they would eat and how much they enjoyed it. At least half of this book is devoted to this filler material since the plot is so thin and drags out to the point where I jut didn't care anymore. And one more reference to the cat and bacon, and I would have probably thrown my Kindle across the room. This series should have ended long ago since each book gets progressively worse. It has ended here for me.

Additional depth needed

I enjoy reading this series but I'm starting to get a little bored. For me adding a little more depth to the plot and not just to the everyday things the characters do. The vampire situation had the right amount of depth to it. They came across as very scary but the ending of The Vampire situation was anticlimactic. Nothing was described about the ending except that it had ended. But like I said I really enjoy reading this series and I see so much potential in your writing. I enjoy your humor the few times that it seems to pop out I wish you would add more of that humor and the Darkness like the vampires you described.

Oops

Kinsley is back. Brighton helped a little (again with the switching POVs). Dead vampire found at the beginning of Kinsley’s first Beltane festival. Random group of vampires show up and give Kinsley three days to solve the murder. Turns out dead vampire volunteered to be sacrificed. Sort of.

Random side stories never explained or finished:
1) Why did the vampire attack Kinsley in the library?
2) Did Dorian keep the vampire necklace, the vampire or both after the festival?
3) Sol and Azule were supposed to already be an item. Why was he suddenly asking her for a date in front of ice cream place?

On book 19

I must write with my opinion of how the author keeps jumping so far ahead with each book! I do not like that. The story line of each book is good, but each book seems to jump into the future by years and it is annoying, and too fast to adjust to the children growing up so fast! And too many changes. It is going too fast into the future with each book now. I do not like that at all. I actually feel annoyed! I never experienced that in any series I have read.I read a Lot. I like the characters and the storylines. She is a good writer, but seems in a hurry to get somewhere? Finished with this series? Slow down please, just a bit.

Beltane Bewitchment

This a fun story line over all. Reading Book 15, Beltane Bewitchment made me feel like I missed a book. Book 14 had Kinsey’s mother Brighton taking Kinsley’s place as (paranormal) investigator of a murder. In book 15 Kinsley’s children have aged 4 years, the newly pregnant best friend Reggie now has three children and Dorian is divorced from his husband Isaac. Kinsley is taking charge of Coven activities and is investigating the murder of a vampire in the middle of the Beltane Festival. A vampire royal family is threatening Coventry. So much drama.

A witch's festival, a vampire, and a raccoon...

It would have been fine if not for, well, everything else. Kinsley has more than she can handle when an immortal is found murdered just before the festival she is hosting begins. It's going to look bad, and she is already stressed and overextended. But her family and friends are ready to help.

As Kinsley's daughters get older, they become more aware of her more serious (life and death) hobby, and even help a little when they can. Good bonding moments.

This is a longer adventure and a bit more involved, which is nice.

Needs editing

I have followed Meri and her witches since Brighten first entered Coventry. This most recent iteration was filled with editing errors that could have been caught on a second reading. The stories are engaging and it is fun to follow the characters on their different adventures. Don't just write the book and let it stand without having someone else read the words. This will make it possible to avoid to "on's" in the same sentence where one should be an "it".

A good first book in the series.

I enjoyed this story. The plot and the characters are good. Belladonna and Ben have a rocky start. I like Belladonna's family and friend. Silver is not all she appears to be. The story kept me guessing who the murderer was. I lovok forward to reading more of this series.

Totally Enchanting!

This story was really awesome! I found the story to be thoroughly enchanting. The mysterious death of Mrs Tory and the feeling that something evil was invading the town was bothering Bella. Will she be able to figure out what is happening before it's too late? Get the book and find out for yourself.

Fun series

I like this series, but I think the editing should be better. There are quite a few mistakes. Also, I would still like to know what happened to Tangerine. Being a dog lover I liked the addition of the dog. Them all of a sudden it just disappeared without any explanation. I am happy that Bonkers didn't have the same fate.

Interesting story line

Read many of Sara's books. This one is good but jumps a bit. Lots of extra detail left to the reader. Good story line. Hopefully the next two have a little more filling in detail.

Beltane and festivals go hand in hand with the threat of a war between supernaturals, what else could happen?

Another Amazing Story From A Great Author

The twists and turns were wonderful! I loved how Kinsley and Brighton managed to work together but having Thorn get the killers was genius! Very enjoyable book. Can't wait to start next book.

A fun read, but the ending was rather abrupt. I was confused about some things - perhaps because this was the 15th book in the series and the first I’ve read. Starting in the middle of a series will do that.

I love Meri and glad she got more time in the book but I have to say when did Meri become a main coon. It wasn't in the book before. Felt like it jumped way to far ahead.
