Solid Developments, Great Relationships
Zach has accepted that he is a dragon, but can not accomplish a shift into his new form. In parallel with his physical blocks, he also has emotional blocks about accepting his needs for accumulating more women in his life.
Scarlett, Jadelyn, and Kelly all have their moments to shine and develop into well rounded characters. Scar dealing with the realities of Zach's needs.
Great scenes with Morgana training Zach, and working together with him in the field to control a troll migration, one troll at a time.
The pace at which Zach's relationship with Jadelyn develops is a whirlwind, planning marriage after their first date. Meet the parents done well. The siren bonding and marriage "ceremony" where creative, exemplary of a larger trend in this series: It feels like every race or type of paranormal has a complete back story and biology that has been thought through, and applied to how the members of the constituency would live differently because of their different circumstances. Werewolves have pack hierarchy and a dominance structure, and express that in how they organize themselves culturally and socially.
Zach and Morgana's jobs are fund, Morgana's driving hilarious, and the convention of magi interacting with the paranormal council excellent.
The first half of the story revolving around Zach starting to learn to shift, and slow reveal of his new characteristics is great. In parallel, the development of the relationship with Jade is excellent. The pacing seems to rush too much, and get completely out of control by the end of the story, where Zach and Morgana are fighting a literal god. A common flaw in this genre, escalation goes way to quickly and there isn't enough time to enjoy the characters as you start to invest in them.
And the reveals on Morgana's background all come in a rush and leave the end of the story with a major cliff-hanger. Morgana, vampire and angelic both?!
