They say time heals all wounds. But some wounds never fade.Fletcher Lockwood hopes to rediscover his muse at a northern California retreat.

What he doesn’t expect is to fall in love.

After weeks of zero inspiration and no new music, Fletcher’s manager suggests a break. Time away from the studio and city noise. Two weeks at an exclusive retreat on the Pacific coast. With nothing to lose, Fletcher packs his bags, hops on a plane, and leaves life behind.

On the first night, Fletcher spots her on the other side of the room. The quiet, demure beauty lost in her own thoughts. A brittle sadness in her facial expression and body language. And he can’t look away. Until he gets caught.

But that doesn’t stop his wandering eyes. Or his indescribable need to know this woman.

Once he summons the courage to talk to her, Fletcher and Madeline share two incredible weeks at the retreat. Form a connection to rival others. Without effort, their relationship blooms into the unexpected. Until Madeline leaves the retreat early without notice.

No note.

No goodbye.

No way to keep in touch.

On tour a year later, Fletcher looks up from his guitar to spot the woman always on his mind. Madeline. With one look, the inseparable bond they shared reignites. Within days, their connection eclipses all others.

But there is something Madeline has yet to share. Her heart belongs to another.

Will Fletcher be able to win Madeline’s heart?

Or will the ghost of her past keep her from moving on?

This story was nothing short of brillant. The writing was poetic and alluring. I was instantly captivated by the story and as it went on, the author brought Maddie and Fletcher to life. As a reader that happens often for us, but with this story, with this couple, it was something extra special. Beautiful and broken, but wow... something beyond amazing.

I lived and breathed their story along with them. I felt the hurt, the heartbreak and sorrow that was so raw, the hope that was overflowing... I seriously loved this read from start to finish.
It's very much a slow burn, low steam story, but you didn't need all that. The story will grip you and settle into your heart without it. The story and the characters are enough. This is about hope. This is about trusting your heart. To living again.

Gah, this was is gonna stick with. It was just that beautiful.
Trust me when I say... Read this one. It will change your heart for the better.

Transcendental is a contemporary romance that also showcases loss in life. This is definitely an emotional read as we follow a widow, going through the grief and finding love again. This has a second chance moment, a musician hero, and it’s slow burn!

“They say time heals all wounds. But some wounds never fade.”

Fletcher is a musician who is told to take a break from his career. He ends up going to a retreat where he meets another attendee there, Madeline. Both are there for very different reasons and don’t share why, but connect on a soul-level. They start to get close and she ends up leaving him without a note or a goodbye…and then they meet again by luck, one year later!

“We have only spent three weeks together over the last year. Three weeks. And yet, it feels as if I’ve known Fletcher an eternity. As if a part of me came back to life finding him. A piece of a soul from another lifetime, locking back in place.”

The connection between Fletcher and Madeline was so believable. I loved that this was a slow burn, it definitely needed to be with everything they were both going through. They both really respected her relationship with her late husband and neither were trying to replace that love she had with him. This was my first read from this author, but I was definitely impressed with their storytelling!

Thanks so much to Forever and Always PR for an ALC 🎧! All thoughts in this review are my own.

**Audio Review**
Oh, my heart! Transcendental by Persephone Autumn was a beautiful and emotional second-chance love story that enraptured my heart from start to finish. Madeline and Fletcher's journey to HEA is full of healing from past wounds, learning to lean on each other, and growing stronger together. This was my first book from Persephone Autumn, and it won't be my last.

Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black narrate this audiobook in dual narration. This was the first time I'd heard these two narrators, and I was super impressed. The whole mood of the book is somewhat somber, but hopeful, and these two captured it perfectly. Hannah portrayed Madeline's fears, doubts, and desires making the listener feel all the things! Edward captured Fletcher's determined and dedicated persona brilliantly making the listener swoon so hard!

Overall, I enjoyed this book! If you are a fan of a second chance emotional romance with a hot musician, a healing widow, meet cute retreats, meaningful conversations, overcoming the past, learning to love again, slow burn steamy times, a heartwrenching climax, and a HEA that will leave your heart full, then you will love Madeline and Fletcher's story. I'm looking forward to more from Persephone Autumn.

This book was amazing. Deeply moving, emotional and heartfelt.

This is the kind of chemistry and connection that I look for in romances but don't often find. It's soulful and profound and the intensity of their connection is incandescent.

Fletcher and Madeline meet each other at the lowest times in their lives for different reasons and it just feels like kismet. But the timing is all off and the stars aren't truly aligned for them yet. The development of their relationship after they meet was just perfection!

A beautifully written romance with old fashioned burn. It reaffirms the idea of destiny and fate and finding a love that is truly meant to be.

I received an ARC and I'd like to say I didn't find this book, but this book found me. I am leaving a review voluntarily. Opinions are my own.

P.S. This is a low steam book. Barely PG-13ish for those who need to know.

Transcendental by Persephone Autumn is the most delightful book and full of emotion. Fletcher Lockwood and Madeline Reynolds are soul mates who don’t know it until fate steps in. They meet unexpectedly at a retreat and start the love affair they were both destined for. It is a beautifully written story that I got totally lost in and it felt I was there experiencing everything with them.
It tackles the issue of dealing with grief and at times I just wanted to cuddle both of them and tell them everything will be alright in the end. Whatever you do, don’t miss the lovely poem by the author at the start.

Fletcher is experiencing a block in his creativity. He is a musician but hasn’t written any songs or music for months. He is feeling lost and not felt himself for a while with no idea how to fix it. Jonathan his stepfather and music producer suggests going to a retreat for a couple of weeks to find himself and get some inspiration for new songs. The retreat is set in beautiful surroundings which Fletch finds peaceful and revitalising, never realising his life is about to change forever.

Maddie’s family and friends have sent her to the retreat because they know she is still depressed after suffering an awful tragedy. They want her to learn how to live again and try and find some happiness in her life. On her first evening she notices Fletcher staring at her and instantly feels the attraction between them. She feels guilty about it as it has left her feeling more alive and happy than she has in months.

Once their eyes met Fletcher is a goner and the pull he feels to her is undeniable. He realises he must be careful as he has noticed how quiet she is and can see the pain and grief in her eyes.
He can sense she is sad and something must have happened to her. He can’t believe how awkward and shy he feels when he starts to talk to her and is totally captivated by her.

When she hears him playing the guitar she wonders if she can really move forward. They chat so easily and she finds him so understanding and sympathetic to her needs. They connect inexplicably but neither are ready to explore their desires. They spend their time together and enjoy each others company. He changes everything for her as she never expected or imagined herself with anyone. She is scared to fall in case she loses it all again but he believes their time will come.

Poor Fletcher is devastated on the last day when he finds out she has left. He has no way of contacting her as she didn’t leave a note. He spends months searching for her as he feels a piece of himself is missing. Find out what happens when he finally finds her and if he can persuade her that they are meant to be?

It is a gradual and emotional journey. I loved how he is always willing to listen to her and never pushes her. He is so patient as she comes to terms with her feelings for him. His first letter to her when he goes on tour was fantastic, heartfelt and thoughtful - you may need the tissues !!
Fletcher is amazing, romantic and I was so taken by all the lovely little things he does. There is something about this book that will stay with you and it definitely shows the true power of love. If you fancy a sweet tale to melt your heart then go grab this now as you won’t regret it.

Fletcher Lockwood is a musician who has been struggling to let his creativity flow for months. He feels completely lost and doesn’t know why.

Madeline Reynolds is a widow and feeling completely lost after losing her husband in a terrible tragedy.

Both of their families urge them to go to a relaxing two-week retreat in Northern California. Neither of them really wanted to go, but they never knew that by going fate would lead them to find their true soulmate. The one person that would save them from themselves. They spend two magical weeks together at the retreat that neither of them will ever forget. When Fletcher goes to say goodbye to Madeline on their last day, she is nowhere to be found. Fletcher is completely broken until he just so happens to run into her a year later. Is it pure luck? Is it fate? Will they still have the same connection they had a year ago? Only time will tell.

This is a contemporary romance, but I truly wholeheartedly believe that this was more about grieving and dealing with life after loss. I didn’t know what to expect, but this was unlike anything else I have read. There was so much struggle and heartache, but thankfully they got their happy ever after in the end.

If you are looking for a super spicy romance, this is not the book for you. This has very minimal spice in it. Do I think more spice could have been added? Yes. Do I think it was absolutely necessary? No.

This was my first book I’ve read by Persephone Autumn, and I’ll definitely be reading more. The way her words flowed on the page was extremely poetic.

I read this book in audio format. It was narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black. I’ve never heard of either of them before, but they both did a great job. I especially have to give a round of applause to Hannah Chiclana. She made me feel every emotion that Madeline was going through. I can’t wait to listen to more of their work.

I received an ALC from Forever and Always PR for an honest review.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful Love Story!

“Life isn’t meant to be fair or easy. Life will always be full of obstacles and challenges. It’s how we overcome them that defines us. Whether we choose to wallow or rise above or both, it’s all part of the journey.”

This story was phenomenal from start to finish. The way this amazing author weaved this beautiful but heartbreaking love story was done with such profound poetic writing that it pulls you in and makes the characters and story come to life on the pages.

It will have you laughing and crying uncontrollably as these two beautiful characters, Maddie and Fletcher, bear their souls to us. The pain, sorrow and despair seeped off the pages and could be felt deep in my heart as I was reading it.

The instantaneous connection that Maddie and Fletcher have really transcends time and space. It’s otherworldly and insanely beautiful to experience. The slow burn of their relationship pulled me in and had me completely captivated and enthralled by the intensity of their growing love for one another. I was so enchanted by them that I never wanted to their story to end.

“A microblip of time feels infinite. Her body barely grazes mine, yet heat coats my skin like a fresh sunburn. My throat dries as a light sheen of sweat layers me from head to toe. And a small whirlpool swims beneath my diaphragm.”

This is a brilliantly written story that is overflowing with emotions and is deeply moving. It’s the perfect kind of sweet, emotional and romantic second chance at love story that you can get lost in.

Persephone is one of my top favorite authors, she stole my heart with her book Depths Awakened and I believe she will do the same with this one.

She’s given us a beautiful love story and truly incredible characters who jump off the page. I am always uber excited to start a new Persephone story; she has such a skilful talent of telling a story so flawlessly where every aspect seems to flow so effortlessly.

It never stops to amaze me how much power a book has, how mere words can make you feel like your heart will blow into a million pieces.
I had those pages flipping at super speed. It was super sweet, romantic, emotional and it melted my heart. The feels were intense and I loved every second of Transcendental.

I just have no words to describe how much I loved this book. It was amazing!

My emotions are still all over the place with this book. But Fletcher, he’s amazing. I fell in love with him instantly.

The explosive attraction and passion between the characters is unparalleled, and the slow burn.

You HAVE to experience this book through fresh eyes and no spoilers to 100% enjoy it and enjoy it you will.

This is a deeply emotional read. Following a widow navigate through her grief and finding a second chance at love.

I really loved the way the narrators sucked me into this story and I truly felt all the emotions portrayed. It truly was magical. I love when an audio book can evoke that feeling from me.

This was a slow burn romance with two people just trying to figure out their lives. Both have a lot of things that have happened and are working through. I loved how much fletcher was supportive of her feelings of her late husband. Knowing how deep those wounds can be.

If you are in the mood for musician, second chance romance, love after loss, and grief. This book is for you! So so good. This is a first for me by this author and I loved all of it!!

Thanks Forever and Always for the review audio copy!

The thought of her consumed me. Still consumes me. But in the same way a flower consumes the sun. Slow and constant and as if it would fail to exist without it.

I sign up for ARC’s all the time, not knowing anything about this author I thought why not. Holy S*#t, I had no idea that this book would be as amazing as it was. I truly felt I was experiencing everything the characters were. This author explains in full detail everything, making you feel like you are living moment by moment inside the book. The minute Madeline feels Fletchers eyes on her you feel it too, down to the very last detail. My heart is swooning ♥️ and then chapter 12 hit me like a ton of bricks and so begins the ache in my heart.
There is something significant in in reading a slow burn romance and Fletcher and Madeline bring a whole new meaning to the words. The build up is worth every bit of the reward. I have never felt this much love in one book like I did with Transcendental. I’m telling you right now! Pick. Up. This. Book.

Persephone Autumn you have done it again with this book. Such a beautiful, brilliant and emotional read that had me glued to my kindle and devouring every word. Fletcher and Madeline captured my heart and I have not been able to let go of their story such was the effect of your words. You were able to feel every emotion and although it was quite heartbreaking it is a beautiful story of love and finding happiness after tragedy. I cannot say enough about this book and I loved it so much I know that I will reread a few times. Ms Autumn is one of my favourite authors and each and every book she writes is beyond spectacular. Five big stars!

Be warned you are not prepared.
Transcendental is everything you want in a beautiful romance novel. Two alluring leads, insane off-the-charts chemistry, an emotional connection that crackles across the pages, and heartbreaking moments that will have you in tears.
Fletcher and Madeline are two struggling souls that meet at a retreat - each recovering. Persephone has proven in her previous works to be a freaking masterful genius when it comes to slow burn and her skills in Transcendental are on full display. She makes a simple scene of Fletcher and Madeline sharing a meal or staring at a fire, sparkle with quiet dialogue, longing glances, soft touches, and unspoken cravings that is pitch-perfect for the characters and their relationship at that point in time. Freaking genius.
But it's the second chance meet-cute that propels this novel to epic proportion. The beautiful romance between Fletcher and Madeline is so beautifully written and poetic you will cradle your kindle to your chest and stare up at the stars with a goofy smile on your face (don't judge).
Transcendental is a beautiful romance about recovery, second chances, loss, and finding love that is a must-read.

Transcendental was a sweet and emotional story. Fletcher and Madeline’s sorry is not like the others I read from Persephone Autumn. I feel like there was so much more emotion. Persephone Autumn has always had a way with words and has you clutching your seat hoping everything will be alright in the end. Each character had their own internal struggles that just grips your heart as a reader and you can’t help but feel connected to them.

Seriously, everyone who has said you need tissues for this book is not lying!

It’s a beautiful slow burn romance that will bring you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. You really need to read this one!

This is one of those books that leaves you emotionally bereft as well as full of hope. The writing is beautiful and emotive with characters that will have you hoping for a happy future. I won't go into specifics as it really is a story that needs to be read without spoilers. I would have tissues at the ready maybe even some wine and chocolate. Madeline is a woman of strength and resilience, trying to get through each day without falling apart. Fletcher had me swooning he was calm understanding and supportive. I adored the slow burn aspect of this story, I liked the friendship they had but the love that grew when they meet again was everything. Sometimes we meet the right person at the wrong time but if fate plays it part who knows what might be possible.

This book is amazing! Definitely different than most of Persephone Autumn's books but different is definitely GOOD. I was not able to figure out this book, it kept me on my toes the whole time! Which was nice! It shows that heartbreak can be healed, it never completely leaves but someone can come along and teach you to love again! Absolutely beautiful story! Not gonna lie, a couple of pages where hard to read because of my own personal accident but so glad I was able to finish it because it was amazing!!! Definitely recommend!!!

Transcendental is the standalone second chance, slow burn romance of Fletcher Lockwood and Madeline Reynolds.
Fletcher is a musician who has been struggling creatively for months. He just can’t seem to find his groove again, so his manager advises he take a break and sends him to a wellness retreat to rest, recharge and reset and to hopefully get his creative juices flowing again. What Fletcher doesn’t bank on is meeting a woman and falling head over heels for her, only for her to disappear without a goodbye or a way to contact her. Imagine her surprise when he spots her twelve months later at his gig and they hit it off again. Will Fletcher be able to hang on to a woman living in the past? Can he compete with a ghost?
Madeline is a widow. She lost her husband at such a young age, there were so many things they didn’t get to do together, and Madeline is struggling to come to terms with having to live her life without her soulmate by her side, so she heads off to a wellness retreat to get away from her routine and try to clear her mind and deal with her grief. Madeline is pleasantly surprised when she meets Fletcher and finds herself drawn to him. She enjoys his company and the way he makes her feels and finds herself falling for him, which scares her as she feels she is betraying her late husband’s memory. Madeline flees the retreat without so much as a goodbye or exchanging contact info without Fletcher and goes back to talking to her late husband every day. Until she attends a gig twelve months later and bumps into Fletcher, they build up a friendship before progressing to a relationship. Will Maddie be able to overcome her grief and see that Flether is her second chance?
Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black bring Madeline and Fletcher to life, and they did such a wonderful job. Hannah brought all emotions in her performance. I felt everything Maddie was feeling throughout and that is a testament to Hannah’s ability to showcase the widow’s struggle. Edward’s portrayal of lovestruck musician Fletcher was amazing. I truly felt everything Fletcher was feeling, from his frustration to falling in love, to being lovesick and seeing his love again and the emotions he went through competing with Maddie’s late husband, I felt them all and that is all down to Edward’s performance.
Overall, this book was just okay for me, I found the story way too slow to get into, there was a lot of this book I feel that could have been cut it by at least a third as it just seemed a lot of unnecessary dialogue. I enjoyed the ending, and the narration was perfect. I love the narrator duo; they work so well together and compliment each other spectacularly. I think I need something a little faster paced, it took to chapter thirty for anything to happen. Oh, and it should advertise that it is a closed-door romance as there was zero spice.

🥵: Closed door

Transcendental is a second chance romance about Fletcher, a musician struggling to write, and Madeline, a widow struggling following the death of her husband, Chris. After meeting at a retreat and instantly connecting, Madline leaves early without saying goodbye. They run into each other a year later and reconnect.

If I'm honest, this book was fine but not for me. I had to remind myself to listen to it, which is not like me at all! The plot is very focused on the character development of Madeline to the detriment of anyone else in the book, and left me feeling a little bored at times.

Fletch was initially set up to be an interesting character: a musician struggling to write and having a difficult relationship with his father, desperately seeking his approval. However, none of this goes anywhere! His father isn't mentioned again after the early chapters. He does write more music, but this is brushed under the rug, an aside that his time with Madeline inspired him.

Madeline does grow as a character, and the depiction of grief and love after loss was moving, especially her struggles to understand her new feelings for Fletch in the light of her love for Chris. However, the first part of the book is set only 7 months after Chris's (traumatic) death, so it is no wonder she is still grieving.

The relationship between Fletch and Madeline felt... flat. I'm a fan of the slow burn (Queen MZ), but this one didn't work for me. There were some very sweet moments, but I did feel as though Fletch was almost too perfect. He was incredibly understanding of her need to take it slow and even his inner monologue didn't hint at any form of jealousy towards Chris, which would be entirely realistic. When I say they took it slow, I really mean slow!

The dual POV narration again was fine, Hannah Chiclana was new to me but did a good job, and I would listen to her again. Edward Black is not new to me, but I'm not his biggest fan. I find his voice a little raspy and not my favourite style.

What a beautiful book full of emotions. Madeline and Fletcher really stole my heart with this one.

Fletcher is a musician and has been blocked lately and hasn't been able to write any new music. So he decides to go on a retreat to try and reset himself. What he doesn't expect to find is not only his muse, but someone who could be his true love.

Madeline has been grieving the loss of her husband for the past 8 months and her friends and family force her to go on the retreat. She isn't expecting much out of it, but one night she hears Fletcher playing his guitar and she is completely entranced. But the grief in her life still holds her back from really opening herself to anything.

Over the weeks at the retreat, Madeline and Fletcher form a bond that seems to be going somewhere, until one of them leaves without a trace and what they thought could become more, just dies with the retreat.

Fast forward a year and they come face to face again. Both have grown with their own issues that were holding them back. Will they still have the connection that they had during the retreat?

This book was beautiful and I don't want to say too much to ruin it. But both of these characters grew so much in the year that they were separated. Madeline especially. We definitely saw her coming out of her shell more and was able to really entertain the idea of having something more with Fletch.

There is something towards the end of the book that had me sobbing! These characters really are perfect for each other and I also loved how the husband that she lost was incorporated into the story in different parts!

The narrators for this book were great! I felt like they were perfect for each character.

I received a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review. This is my third book by this author, and they just keep on getting better. This book really pulled at the heart strings. Maddie, who is completely broken, meets Fletcher at a two week retreat away from their current lives. Fletcher is there to find inspiration for his music. Madde is there to help herself heal after the loss of her husband. They feel an instant connection immediately when meeting, which neither can really make sense of. Maddie definitely has feelings for him but isn’t sure how to honor them as she is still grieving her tragic loss. They spend almost all of their time together, hikes, painting, and the beach. They then go their separate ways at the end of the two weeks. Maddie leaving with no goodbye , and Fletcher devastated. A year later they run Into one another again, and this time it just all feels right. This book was filled with heartache from the beginning , heart breaking “watching” Maddie’s heart break on a daily basis. Fletcher is so kind and understanding, and his feelings for her know no bounds. I love how this author uses alternate chapters for each character. I think it always brings out the character development and helps create a real connection with the main characters. This is a very slow burn , but oh so perfect. The love between these two characters is beautiful to experience as it grows throughout the book. I thought this book was beautifully done. It was tied up together perfectly at the end. I absolutely recommend reading ! My heart broke reading it, but was put back together by the end.

𝑨𝑳𝑪 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 🎧

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book. It was emotional and full of grief, and if you know me, you know that it is not the trope I’m usually going for (I need to keep my sanity at level, you know 😂), and I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Writing about grief and loss is not easy, but Persephone did it beautifully. I cried I smiled, I felt.

The story between Maddie and Fletcher was beautiful and emotional.

This is a slow burn with low spice, but you don’t need it in this book because it’s not what it is about. It is about finding yourself again after losing someone; it is about forgiveness.

Maddie and Fletcher met at a retreat camp. They both felt an instant connection despite the fact to be completely opposite. Fletcher is a musician and decides to take a break in his career, hence the retreat. They spent 3 weeks together and became really close friends. Fletcher understands her even though he doesn’t know what happened to her. He was so patient and understanding with her. He made me swoon more than once 🥰

You thought I’d say that they ended up together after 3 weeks? Wrong. Maddie left the last day of their retreat without a word, a number or anything else. But they find their way to each other again 1 year later.

If you want to know what happened next, you’ll have to read it. We do NO spoiler here 😂

In short, I really liked this book; it was emotional and heartbreaking. What I didn’t like is to cry at 1 am so no thanks for that 😋😂

This is a power story of Love loss and finding your soul mate. Flecher can't seem to find his creativity and had a run in with his father who made him feel small meager and pointless all because he is a musician and not what he thinks he should be. His Step dad and manager Jonathan decides he needs to send him to a retreat to find himself again. Madeline who is struggling to get past a tragedy and that is causing her emotionally draining sadness. Her friends and family send her to the retreat to try and discover happiness again. Right away there is a pull between Flecher and Madeline and they feel like they have found there other half but with everything they have both gone though getting there takes time. They spend two weeks together then its time to leave. A year goes by when they finally find each other again. This story will bring the tears multiple times and take you on a who journey. What an exceptionally well written story that pulls you in and gives you every emotion. Well done again Persephone you have done it again.
I received this book as an ARC for my Honest Review.

Sweet Sweet Love story!

Although a slow burn, I absolutely loved this story written by Persephone Autumn and narrated by Hannah Chiclana & Edward Black all who are new to me but definitely will be following! Such a beautiful story and perfect narration!

When two people are truly soulmates and meant to be together fate will make it happen. Fletcher and Madeline were destined to meet and came into each other's lives at the very right time. As their story unfolded, they began to realize it was Kismet.

This story is romantic and really makes you believe that happily ever after’s can happen for everyone, even through tragedy. We must open our hearts and minds and allow it to happen.

Having read Ms.Autumn's books before i've been looking so forward to picking up more of her work! As soon as this one was announced i wanted to pick it up right away. I added it to my TBR List from that moment and got into it as soon as i could. I so enjoyed this story!

Fletcher and Madeline's journey had me feeling so much from beginning to end! I really liked how these two were brought together and the realness shown by both characters throughout. I was so glad that i got to dig deeper with these two and how i truly felt so much with both of them. I so enjoyed the way these two connected.

With Transcendental, Ms.Autumn has created such a good read that brought emotions with such depth that will get to you! This story will definitely be sure to grab your attention and keep it! I can't wait to read what she comes up with next!
