More than a book, Raising Prayerful Kids is a tool parents can use to make prayer fit naturally into their daily routines without it feeling like a chore or a lecture. Relatable stories of the authors’ successes and failures along with fun activities and games help parents turn everyday moments into faith-filled moments that are naturally filled with prayer.
Praying with your kids can be connecting, fun, nonintimidating, and even life changing.
I loved this book! It's easy to read, yet spiritually deep. The stories Steph and Sarah share are funny, touching, and very real. It is full of simple and creative ways to incorporate prayer in your daily activities with your children and grandchildren. But, it’s not just for parents and grandparents. This book will encourage any reader to expand their prayer life and relationship with God. There are several prayers that I use day to day myself. The Grateful Game is the best way to fall back to sleep if you are tossing and turning. And, I love Breath Prayers to reduce stress or just to praise God. This book makes constant prayer easy and reminds us that we don’t need to be perfect in prayer – “We are all sinners, saved by our Perfect Parent.”
Raising Prayerful Kids is the perfect book for a busy parent who wants to help their kids grow in Jesus through prayer. I love how Stephanie and Sarah share their hearts with authentic stories that make us laugh, cry, and nod at the same time. The simple and fun activities in this book are perfect to practice with your kids. This book won't leave moms feeling overwhelmed with more to add to their spiritual 'to do' list. Instead, readers will feel encouraged and loved because these ladies have been where we are and they are with us in the messy, beautiful, prayer-filled days of parenthood. I'd highly recommend this book to any parent!
I absolutely loved this book! Seriously, I wish I’d had it 10 years ago when I had a houseful of little ones and was desperately trying to figure out ways to plant seeds of faith in their little hearts. Raising Prayerful Kids is filled with fun and creative ideas to engage children in intentional prayer. Many of the ideas were familiar to me from my years of serving in Children’s Ministry, but there were plenty of options that were new to me as well. My girls would have absolutely loved the Fortune Teller game (so fun!!), and I really enjoyed the depth of some of the ideas in the Focused Prayer section. The authors have such an engaging, relatable writing style, which will make it easy for both seasoned mamas and those who are new to the faith to use it with their children. This is definitely a book I will share with the young moms in my life who are looking for intentional ways to connect their kids with Jesus. This is such a needed resource!
I have a good habit of praying FOR my kids but I am not always the best at praying WITH my kids. I feel so inspired after reading this book. It is filled with so many practical ways to engage your kids in prayer. It is also filled with a lot of very sweet, honest stories about raising littles. Maybe not all of the options will be for you or your family depending on the age of your kids and their temperaments. That's ok! There are so many options in this book. We have already started praise walks and breath prayers and my kids love them. I think this book may be even more important for ME and changing my heart and reminding me of all the different ways there are to pray so that I can first model those things for my kids. Definitely recommend it if prayer is a value you want to instill in your family!
Steph and Sarah share real life stories that make you laugh and relate. This book is not just for parents, but for anyone who wants to further their relationship with God. I love all the easy examples of how to pray and how to incorporate God in your daily life. I can’t wait to use these examples for my future children. I will start practicing the Grateful Game and Nature Prayer Walks, because who doesn’t need a reminder of all the daily miracles God grants us.
There are certain books one reads that touch your heart so deeply that you want everyone you know to read that book. Raising Prayerful Kids is that type of book. The heartfelt wisdom shared by the authors motivated me to start thinking of which activities I can do with my grandchildren. I prayed with my own children when they were young but would have loved a resource like Raising Prayerful Kids while I was raising them. The prayers and games look super easy to incorporate into your daily life. The joy of prayer is what I really feel the authors are teaching us. As young parents themselves they understand that raising kids can be incredibly wonderful and also a challenge at times. I appreciated that each author shared from their heart about their own child rearing adventures. This is what I call a "highlighter" book. The kind of book you read and then you go through and highlight parts that jump out at you to reference in the future without having to search. I will keep this treasured book right next to my Bible to remember to pray for all the young families trying to raise children in this modern era. I am so thankful that I purchased this treasure and will give it as a gift to friends who are parents or grandparents. @raisingprayerfulkids @stephthurling @sarahholmstrom #RaisingPrayerfulkids
Steph and Sarah write with warmth and sincerity, sharing stories, examples, variations, and encouragement alongside each type of prayer game or activity. As a mom of an almost one-year-old, I have been praying actively for tools to help raise my son to know and love God deeply, and this book is a direct answer to that prayer. I thought I’d read a few chapters and come back to the book when he’s a little older—but I couldn’t put it down! On top of learning about different ways to incorporate prayer for my son, my own heart was piqued with curiosity and desire to know God better through prayer. I feel excited, inspired, and equipped to begin implementing prayer into our family life starting today! This will be a gift I give to new parents for many years to come.
Raising Prayerful Kids rocks!!! Stephanie and Sarah have managed to weave practical, engaging prayer activities into an engaging, relatable, and unexpectedly humorous narrative. You’ll find life giving encouragement and immediately deployable activities to help deepen your own family’s prayer life and gain new perspective on your relationship with God as a result. This book should at the top of the gift list for new parents, grandparents, church leaders, and the rest of us who realize that a little more prayer in our lives can only be a good thing!
Raising Prayerful Kids is more than a book - it's an amazing tool parents can use to make prayer a daily habit in their kids without it feeling like a chore or lecture. I've been reading an advanced copy and love it because it’s authors appear to be real moms, like me, like many of us, who want to help our kids and families succeed in both life and prayer life. I cried my way through several of these chapters realizing that I was being taught ways to become a more prayerful grown-up, so that I could communicate faith to young people. Wish that I could have been this intentional about teaching and modeling prayer to my children who are now grown. There are so many parents I would love to bless with this book!
I had a hard time putting this book down! I love all the practical ways to help me pray more with my kids. Not overwhelming, easy to read and easy to put into practice. I especially love all the personal stories from Sarah and Stephanie. Perfect timing for my family as I was trying to be more intentional about praying with my girls! Love it!
I really loved this book. The authors take out the intimidation and the need to be “praying right” and shared accessible examples on how to pray with and for your kids. I was able to immediately and easily start incorporating these tools in my family’s lives. I have recommended this book to all of my friends!
I love this book. The authors are authentic. They write in an easy to read manner. The prayerful suggestions are simple and take very little effort to use or try with your children. I appreciate the open, heartfelt, and sincere stories that are shared.
One of my favorite books of the year, and definitely on my top ten list of parenting books! I am blown away by how practical and attainable this book is making me feel about raising my children in a prayerful home. Perhaps ideal for preschool ages and up, but I’m also gleaning ideas for prayers in calm-down moments with my two-year-old!
Free on Hoopla but I’m wish-listing a paperback to reread and reference!
I found Raising Prayerful Kids to be transformative in my personal prayer life and foundational to teaching my littles to love to pray! So many inspirational building blocks to encourage our children to pray throughout their day. I've been implementing their strategies for a couple years now and love to see how my kids respond to prayer - with gratitude, praise, and joy. Thanks for writing a book that speaks to our desire as parents for our kids to know and love Jesus and have a vibrant, thriving relationship with him!
I loved this book! I have been looking for more ways to keep connected with my kids during this pandemic life, and the authors have provided some really great activities and ways to connect through prayer and building our relationship with God. I started doing one of the practices in the book with my boys already and they have started looking forward to it each night. The authors are real moms, currently raising real kids, in the real world and I loved that this was reflecting in their writing and in the activities and suggestions they included in this book. They understand what it’s like to converse with small children and how to approach those conversations while still leaving room for prayer and creativity. A really informative and relatable read.
This book was written in a way that is so easy to understand, follow, and apply the ideas for your family. We found the activities fun and easy to do. I cannot wait to see the long term out one from these activities in our children's lives ❤️❤️❤️ Disclaimer: I received an Advanced Reader Copy of the book from the author/publisher.

This book is perfectly timed, and will bless any family who opens its pages!
I found this book to be full of encouragement and practical ideas for those wishing to incorporate prayer into the daily lives of their children. I only wish I had this book when my children were younger!
Raising Prayerful Kids is a timeless classic that will be enjoyed by generations. Through funny, touching and down to earth stories, authors Stephanie and Sarah share openly about how hard life and parenting can be, especially when you try to do it in your own strength! As someone who didn’t grow up in a Christian home, I appreciate these fellow faith based Moms’ assistance in establishing a strong spiritual foundation in my children. The simple yet powerful prayer suggestions are suitable for a range of ages, well thought out and easy to implement and incorporate into ones daily life. No matter what age, stage or level of relationship with God we can all learn something from this book. “Prayer, is not a list of demands and praises. Okay, I’m so glad I picked up this book! So many practical and fun ideas to incorporate prayer into our family’s every day life. With young kids in the mix, I often find myself feeling intimidated and overwhelmed trying to create an environment in our home that will help my kids thrive spiritually, when sometimes just getting us all through the day ALIVE is hard enough as it is. The authors of “Raising Prayerful Kids” are incredibly relatable in this area (glad to know I’m not alone here!) They do a wonderful job breaking down these kid-friendly prayer activities to help meet you (and your kids) wherever you are at.
