The concept was invented by the ancients: These are things to be experienced in one's lifetime. Their choices were man-made works on a monumental scale, pyramids and temples and tombs of surpassing grandeur. This notion of Seven Wonders proved irresistible, and, during the Middle Ages, another list was created. In the Modern era, yet another. There are, as well, Natural Wonders and Animal Wonders. Here, in a single LIFE volume, are all of them--seven lists of seven--each worthy of the original admonition: Don't miss this.

Bought this for the photos. As a coffee table book, the binding is a bit flimsy. The info. for the photos is pretty basic, but then, I didn't buy it for encyclopedic knowledge.
