Baby, the way I am sitting here.. still.

This book was so damn good. First and foremost, I loveeeed that this book starts off at the end of the last book. You miss absolutely nothing & get all of the clarity you need to actually understand wth is going on in Lakeview Falls.

These folks have been through it, okay. Gore. Death. Deception. Bombshells. You name it.

This book took me on a RIDE and I can’t lie to you, the last few chapters had me holding my breath. The way I screamed, yelped, put my book (or kindle) down because I was just in disbelief of the info being dropped..

My God. I’ll be recovering for a few days before I start book 3.

Because these people won’t EVER see peace.

Mastema enjoys his new meat suit, Crystal. Escaping the hospital, he wreaks havoc around Lakeview Falls. Meanwhile, Simone convinced her grandmother to stay and help save Crystal and what’s left of their town. Simone discovers a shocking secret about her family, as well as herself. Together with the remainder of her friends, and a now human Jason, Simone tries desperately to defeat Mastema. But, who can they trust, and who is a skin flaying demon in disguise?

Meanwhile in Chicago, detectives Theresa and Sonie decide to investigate Lakeview Falls after Theresa hasn’t heard from her husband who was on a secret mission in the town. Who will perish, who will survive and what will happen to Crystal as Mastema slowly destroys her soul?

Christine Germain once again delivered. This book is fast paced and action packed. There’s never a dull moment. It’s full of nail-biting suspense and a sense of doom as you watch character after character meet their gruesome demise.

I enjoyed the detective angle to this story and for those who don’t like books from that point of view, no worries because it isn’t overwhelming and there’s a nice break up of chapters that don’t include detective work.

Christine stands out for her diversity in characters. Her characters are mapped out so beautifully, full of personality and differences. It’s hard to dislike any of her characters as she shows the humanity in even the most evil.

Christine’s writing is so detailed and descriptive, perfect images of scenes and characters play out in your mind.

My favorite aspect about The Brother’s Curse saga is how Christine throws the reader into all sorts of emotions. Have you ever experienced heart break reading a book? Well imagine that but multiple times as she swiftly kills off all of your favorite characters without much warning.

Christine is the queen of cliff hangers. Her endings pack a punch, and by punch I mean one directly to your face leaving you mind blown and often times in shock.

I loved this book. I’ll probably reread it multiple times. This series gives me supernatural romance, horror, suspense, humor, diversity, sadness and heartbreak. If you haven’t absorbed yourself into Christine’s shape shifter world, you’re missing out. Highly anticipating book 3.

On a side note, the book is aesthetically beautiful. Serpents above each chapter, the chapters titles were quirky and funny. And the cover is gorgeous with vibrant colors. Great job! 🎉

Where do I start with this Sequel? First and foremost I want to say how much I enjoyed the brothers curse book 1. The ending sent me racing to read Book 2 which did not disappoint at all. Not only was the writing even better than the first I absolutely loved the interior design with the snake which I found so creepy.

"The stone the curse of mastema" continues with the lead character Crystal now possessed by 25 demons. Holy shit this book was insane. I love the beginning where the reader is introduced to brand new characters in the series. We now get to see two strong female detectives from Chicago come into the mix when they go to Lakeview falls searching for a character we lost in book 1. Also, the backstory of Professor Baptist comes in full throttle when we find out that he has more to do with what is happening to Crystal. (Some horrible secrets are revealed and things do take a turn for the worse)

Now let's get to Crystal who is now controlled by Mastema who in my opinion is the most disgusting villain in this series by far. I thought Brother # 2 in book 1 was horrible but this demon takes the cake with what he does to Crystal's friends and family. The bloodshed in this book is by far the scariest stuff I've read.

I absolutley loved how each character had an important part in this story. And just to let readers know... DO NOT GET ATTACHED TO ANYONE AT THIS POINT!!!!!

I was scared for everyone including Crystal's sister Alexandria who pretty much kept walking into a death trap. This girl goes through some stuff that is not pleasant, to say the least.

I also loved Jason's character arc. He stepped up and really showed us a different side to him that I really enjoyed. Tilly rice has to be my favorite character because she roasted everyone in this story, That woman has one of the funniest scenes and her humor is one of a kind. (The scene where she calls Justin and Sonie, Donnie and Marie had me laughing so hard.)

And let me not get to the shocking moments of this story that will leave you cursing at the author, That ENDING was not only the most disturbing thing I've read but I think it brought me back to scenes from Stephen King "The Shinning" and "Childplay"

When you see what this brilliant Author does at the very end you will be wanting to know what happens next ASAP in this series. I highly recommend this book to any horror, supernatural fan.

I cannot wait to see what happens in the third installment. I will be looking out for the release announcement to book 3.

"She stands as if her feet are nothing, realizing that one family's action has caused a plethora of chaos.... 'Your family created that monster?'"

So I have sat with this a bit longer than usual because I'll be honest with you...I am reeling -- STUNNED. I need book 3, and I need it now.

@abs2fitcocoa has done such a beautifully cohesive job with the way the scenes flow, you could view them as acts. The many characters all have a valid and unique part in this and they all come together in the end to do their part in helping to defeat an ancient demon hellbent on nothing but destroying their town of Lakeview Falls. It is a grim task, beloved Crystal is already overtaken by this thing. Will they have to kill her to kill Mastema, the horridly evil human-eating demon? One thing you will learn, especially if you read Book 1, this author will kill off any character and anything is possible.

Read. It. But read the first book of course if you haven't yet read it. I reviewed that one a bit earlier on here and you can also see my thoughts on that.

This series is incredibly fantastic. From descriptions to well-rounded characters, from frights, to love, to sex, to demons to deaths, and a whole lot of humor. The author has created something beautiful, compelling and it certainly had me binging through the whole night. A lot of Characters from Book 1 have grown from what they were and that is incredible. I mean except for Victoria because she was just downright annoying.

After each chapter and right till the end, we did not know what was going to unfold! Lots of twists and shocking revelations about a certain character took me by surprise. This was an amazing book and i can't wait to see the next installment to this saga. I loved it 5/5

I really thought Book 1 "The Brother's Curse" would better prepare me for this book. IT DID NOT!!! The amount of Chaos, Devastation, Death and Evil was so massive in this sequel. I read this book in one day and literally could not sleep afterwards because of some of the horrific things that happened. I mean everybody in Lakeview Falls got it. It didn't matter if you were Young, Old, Child or Infant, evil simply doesn't care.

The amount of death in this book was both riveting and heartbreaking. With Crystal being possssed by 25 Shape shifting demons means that nobody is safe.....NOBODY!!!

The author does a good job tying up lose ends from book 1 only to end this book on a shockingly horrific cliffhanger. I already know Book 3 is gonna be the most traumatizing book in the series which is an amazing feat to accomplish being that books 1 & 2 has already traumatized me and vexed my spirit.

Talk about a Sistah praying everyday; I've been praying without ceasing since book 1. LOL!!!!

OH MY GAWDDD *grabs some holy water*

Baby, this wasn't a book. It was a movie! & Christine, thank you for letting our Bestie boo bae, Trey survive! 'Cause sis' I couldn't handle him not making it in this book!

Let's see.. We had Gargoyles making brownies, snake penises, yo Daddy is a Demon. Probably yo mama too. Warlocks had to come back into town. Demons was eating folks off the bone, like a fruit roll up. We got witches making houses disappear into thin air. Mastema and his 24 minions was playing hop scotch, going from one person to the next. You really just never knew who was who. Or what the hell you were dealing with. Unless you asked the right questions, and IF they start twitching?!? Then you KNEW that was no longer your childhood friend you were dealing with. That was a whole shapeshifter, and if you were lucky. You MIGHT make it out of their sight alive. (a very rare occassion btw).

You couldn't leave or come into town. If you even tried to leave they literally TORCHED you to death..... And you better know people tried. And not but ONE, succeeded. Barely.... A whole massacre broke out on campus. LIVE ON TV people were being scalped, heads was flying, limbs, eyeballs... you name it. Any body part you can think of. You saw it, flying about on national TV. Not to mention, you could just see this casually walking or driving down the road any time of day. These demons didn't spare a soul! Mastema wasted ZERO time to make this place, everyone once called a home his own personal playground of HELL ON EARTH. You know how bad off a town gotta be that they telling you "help yourself" at the stores, restaurants, and hotels?!!! EXCUSE ME!??!

If I had a dollar for every time I said "oh helllll nawwww" while reading this. I could get about 100 books for FREE at Barnes and Noble. Make it 101 books!

Even though Lakeview Falls fell apart, and people were literally laid all over the place in pieces. It was great to see the crew come together and do all they could to save their town. But, it was also sad to see that so many of them had to sacrifice their lives so that others could live and also so they could officially put a stop to great dane of shapeshifting demons, The O.G. MASTEMA!

Nothing could have prepared me for the plot twist at the end! NOTHING! At the same time, I don't know why I got too comfortable thinking everyone would get their happy ending. It was TOO damn perfect of a victory.

This book had me scared to go to bed, had me checking my damn bed. If you need something that will have you up all night, with a big scoop of over the top gore? This book is for you.

Now onto book #3. I can't wait to catch up with the gang, and see what Christopher's BAD ass is up to.

"The Curse of Mastema," readers are catapulted back into the heart-pounding world of Crystal and her harrowing battle against dark forces. Picking up where the first book left off, Germain wastes no time plunging readers into a gripping narrative filled with suspense, horror, and unexpected twists.

One of the most commendable aspects of this sequel is Germain's ability to elevate the intensity and complexity of the story. From the very beginning, readers are introduced to new characters who seamlessly integrate into the narrative, adding depth and dimension to the already richly developed world of Lakeview Falls. The inclusion of two strong female detectives from Chicago adds a fresh dynamic to the story, while the revelation of Professor Baptist's deeper involvement adds layers of intrigue.

Central to the plot is Crystal's horrifying transformation, now possessed by 25 demons, with Mastema emerging as a truly detestable villain. Germain masterfully explores the depths of darkness through Mastema's actions, creating a palpable sense of dread that permeates the entire narrative. The bloodshed and terror that unfold are truly chilling, leaving readers on the edge of their seats and unable to predict what horrors await.

One of the standout elements of "The Curse of Mastema" is the development of each character's arc. From Crystal's sister Alexandria to the unlikely hero Jason, Germain breathes life into each character, allowing them to evolve and grow in unexpected ways. Tilly Rice's humor provides a welcome reprieve from the tension, injecting much-needed levity into the story and showcasing Germain's skillful balance of horror and comedy.

However, it's the shocking moments and gut-wrenching twists that truly set this book apart. Germain fearlessly pushes the boundaries of the genre, delivering an ending that is as disturbing as it is unforgettable. Just when readers think they know what to expect, Germain throws them for a loop, leaving them clamoring for more.

Overall, "The Stone: The Curse of Mastema" is a triumph of horror and suspense. Christine M Germain proves herself to be a master storyteller, weaving a tale that is equal parts terrifying and captivating. With its well-rounded characters, unpredictable plot twists, and spine-tingling atmosphere, this series is a must-read for fans of supernatural horror. Just be prepared to lose sleep as you eagerly await the next installment.

This is book two of The Brother’s Curse Saga and revolves around Crystal Francois and her friends in Lakeview Falls, a town cursed by shapeshifter demons for decades and her family have an important role to play in its destruction. When ‘Jason’ fell in love with Crystal, his immortality as the son of Mastema was broken. And when she broke the necklace into her own skin, she broke the containment of Mastema and his twenty four soldier demons, allowing them to possess her and his reign of terror to begin. If the town thought the killings of the last few decades were something bad, this is about to ratchet that up to something horrific! Add in a pair of female Chicago detectives, who have arrived to rescue their undercover colleague, who soon find out nothing is quite what they thought. Sheriff Mills is fighting a losing battle against these demonic possessions and the shapeshifter demons can take on any appearance, just by being around someone or killing them obviously. Some odd behaviour by those around them, should have warned the group of tight knit friends that something was wrong, but they put it down to the shock of what has been happening and the death of friends they have lost already.

This second book gets even more grotesque in its levels of violence and killings, with even those you wouldn’t expect, soon ending up possessed and coming out of the shadows at the worst possible moment. The only ones who might be able to stop all of this, are Simone and her grandmother Tilly, who has been living in a small cabin in the woods of the next town over. They need the help of the ancient sorceress who gave Trey the book about the demons and the necklace, but Trey lost this when he was attacked and it ended up in the wrong hands. They must construct a new stone to contain the demons and their master, before he is too strong to contain and he destroys the whole town. A violent ending, which will need a lot of sacrifice from some, but also shocking revelations about others. All the gore and horror you could expect after the first one and more strange events still to follow. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinions of the book above.

*** Slight Spoiler Warning ***
Christine M. Germain is an amazing story teller. She brings creepdom and shock to a whole new level in The Stone The Curse of Mastema, the second installment of The Brother’s Curse Saga.

The first book was a wild ride that introduced the eerie atmosphere of Lakeview Falls, where shape-shifting demons terrorized the people of the town, epecially protagonist Crystal Francois. It ended with a twist that turned our protagonist into The Stone The Curse of Mastema’s antagonist—the most evilest shape-shifting demon in history—Mastema himself; and oh how he enjoys his Crystal suit.

Christine is not shy in the killing of major characters. She is also known for her diverse characters which so many books lack. This and her ability to transport you into a scene is what attracted me to TBC Series in the first place. You feel like you are really there when someone dies. And characters will die, brutally and shockingly.

In Book 2 we find there is so much murder and mayhem going on in Lakeview Falls it has spilled over into neighboring cities. And Detective Michael Pierre, who was undercover investigating the bizarre deaths, has gone missing. His wife, Detective Theresa Pierre and her partner Detective Sonie set out to find what has happened to him. They venture into town while Mastema is doing all he can to free his demons, destroy the inhabitants of Lakeview Falls, and battle the forces out to stop him. And he plans to accomplish this while under the guise of Crystal.

Christine is a true visionary and The Stone The Curse of Mastema is horror and comedy at its finest. You’ll be grossed out. You’ll be creeped out. And you’ll find yourself yelling at the characters to watch out, all while learning the value of true friendship and just how far Crystal’s friends will go to save her from the grips of Mastema. You will also learn about the families of the town and the history which reveals the origin behind Mastema’s rage.

AND THAT ENDING!! Oh my god! Shocking…

Great job. Really good. I highly recommend this one and eagerly await Book 3.

Just finished reading 'The Stone:The Curse of Mastema' by Christine Germain, book 2 in the lovely 'Brother's Curse' Saga and... woooooooow.
Another great installment following a fantastic first part.

In this part, Crystal Francois is in even more trouble. After consuming the Lazurkismurma demons and the entity of "Mastema", the evilest shapeshifter demon to humanity, she is about to unleash her reign of terror.

Her friends and the entire town of Lakeview Falls are about to meet their doom unless Mastema is defeated once and for all.
What follows is a fast paced thrill-ride of a horror adventure that will keep you nailed on your reading seat devouring page after page.

New characters, more mystery and action with an even tighter plot and looooots of cliffhangers to make part 2 an essential horror read.
What is truly amazing, is that the author manages to upgrade an already perfect story and taking it to the next level.

Diverse characters from multicultural ethnic backgrounds make this read an excellent and exciting reading experience. The author has the ability to create a great world in which the characters win, lose, die and get tormented in a battle with and against unspeakable evil.

A great read by an excellent and very promising writer. You need this in on your bookshelf.

Christine you almost had me fooled girl loll I thought we had a happy ending for a minute until you snatched it away from us 😭 LOL I just somehow knew it was too good to be true.

Mastema stopped at nothing to make Crystal personally destroy everything and everyone she loved. He was absolutely relentless. Knowing that she was fully aware of everything he was doing while possessing her body made it even worse. She was an unwilling participant but still had to watch all the damage he caused while she was powerless to intervene.

This book to me was a lot about Jason’s redemption. I loved seeing him explore his human side. Seeing him show vulnerability and empathy. He even regretted the things he did as a shapeshifter. It was honestly kind of sad that now that he was human he still didn’t get to be with Crystal. That was tearing me up the entire book 😩 It just didn’t seem fair.

I liked how we didn’t automatically know who was possessed by shapeshifters. The only person we actually knew about was Derrick so everyone else was a complete surprise! I’m still sad about some of the characters we lost😩 Two of the deaths at the end really caught me by surprise! Don’t even get me started on the epilogue 😭 Like how could Cain be so stupid!

This was an amazing follow-up to the first book. I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series!

Get ready to be thrilled and terrified by the latest addition to The Brother's Curse Saga series- Book 2, The Stone the Curse of Mastema by Christine M. Germain. This gripping horror novel is the perfect sequel to the first story, with every detail carefully woven together to create an unforgettable reading experience.
Germain's storytelling ability and unparalleled attention to detail explain why she's such an admired author, and this book is no exception. From nostalgia-inducing Easter eggs to grim humor and a great storyline, this book has it all, including more gore than the first.
Crystal Francois has already broken one Brother's immortality and killed another, but now, having consumed the Lazurkismurma demons and Mastema himself, her reign of terror has only just begun. With the entire town of Lakeview Falls and their friends in her crosshairs, our hero ensemble must band together and fight to create a new amethyst stone to vanquish Mastema for good. What will happen? I’m not going to tell. Read to find out in this electrifying sequel that'll keep you on the edge of your seat...

This second book in The Brother’s Curse Saga picks up right where the last story left off. We have the MC, Crystal, packed full of demonic shapeshifters, including Mastema - the evilest, most powerful one - and she’s ready to pick off her friends and the rest of the inhabitants of Lakeview Falls, one by one. Nail-biting suspense doesn’t let up throughout the entire book. You just have to buckle up for the ride. Even though it’s tightly paced, it simultaneously unravels a rich, well-developed story, with quirky characters that feel real and never fail to entertain. We have the original survivors that return from the first book, and some new characters to add flavour and diversity. I enjoyed the added dimension of Wiccan magic, brought through several characters, especially Tilly and Simone. There are also new monsters that haunt Crystal Falls, and with Shapeshifters, you never know who to trust which amps up the suspense and makes this story impossible to predict or put down. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Prepare yourself for the wild ride that is "The Brothers curse sage" by Christine M. Germain!

We're talking shapeshifting demons, an amethyst necklace of doom, and a heroine named Crystal who's got some tough decisions to make.

Will she save the day or take the ultimate fashion risk and kick the bucket for a necklace? Decisions, decisions!

This book isn't just a novel; it's an energy force to be reckoned with.

The plot is so detailed and realistic that you'll start side-eyeing your own jewelry collection.

Plus, there's a perfect blend of humor to keep you laughing through the horror.

The characters? Oh, they're as unpredictable as the weather on a spring day.

John and Trey are the real MVPs, showing us what true love and heroism look like.

And don't even get me started on the writing style - it's so smooth, it's practically poetic. Trust me, this book cover tells you everything you need to know: buckle up and get ready for a literary rollercoaster!

But be warned if you’re squeamish tread with caution.

it’s packed full of gore, which I like.

Please make this a movie

The Brother’s Curse Saga, Book 2: The Stone the Curse of Matema, by Christine Germain…

Dang. This book is wild. I’m not going to paraphrase too much because I don’t want to give away any of the plots and twists in this book or book 1. But it picks up right after the first book. The story is packed with goblins, monsters, and gore, and it just keeps punching.

Like book one, every chapter has detail bringing the story to the reader’s senses. The story and the creatures are all exceptionally imaginative, visualizing the turbulent plot progression. I wish these books would be adapted to movies or a Netflix series.

I definitely recommend checking out this series and I’m looking forward to the next book.

Now i am officially a fan of the brothers curse series. I am very skeptical of sequels and most I've read have never lived up to the first novel of a series, but this book? Damn! The amount of twist and secrets revealed and the deaths? I mean, I can't even speak at this moment. I read this in one sitting and all I can say is book 3 here I come. Why did that poor child Christopher had to suffer at the end like that? I am truly concerned about what he can inflict in book 3 because this kid is flat out evil and dangerous.

The second saga of the Brother's Curse series literally snatched my edges clean off where I have to regrow buying plenty of castor oil. Diving back into Lakeview Falls, Crystal's attempt to save the town and her friends causes a shift in the scene. Mastema is BACK! Possessing Crystal's body Mastema is taking his revenge causing chaos and bloodshed in the doomed town. We are introduce to new characters and the survivors of the 1st book. No stone is unturned in the nightmarish terror as the Grandma Tilly, Simone, Trey and now the mortal Jason whom fell in love with Crystal to stop his father and the destruction of the ill-fated town of Lakeview Falls. You'll fall in love with Grandma Tilly full of sass, magic and common sense. A complete page turner as the first novel, Ms. Germain is our new horror writer of the 21st century with unique characters, gore, love story, diversity wrapped into brilliant story telling.

Excellent continuation of thus series. The story flowed so well and boy these characters really flesh out, especially Jason. I love him so much. Mastema was terrifying and did some bad stuff to Crystal. This story has so many layers and more secrets are uncovered as well as new characters that will make thus such a great read. Look forward to book 3.

What can I say? Christine M. Germain did it again!

Fast paced, amazing story telling, great horror and gore, and plot twists you won't see coming. The Stone the Curse of Mastema picks up right where The Brother's Curse ended, and you will not be ready for what happens in Lakeview Falls.

No one is safe, and the ending will have you ready for Christopher's Curse.
