When Nick Marshall comes into the library that Andy Griffin manages, they discover an immediate, intense attraction to one another. Too bad they both have issues. Nick has a serious problem letting people get close to him, and Andy has a something even worse going on. He has a very determined stalker. Andy's stalker always ends his messages with "Miss me?" and for a while he thinks the guy is gone. He gets to know Nick a little during the sweet silence, but soon enough his stalker is back. Nick's upset that Andy is in danger, but not as freaked out as he thought he'd be at the prospect of staying with Andy to help keep him safe. Can they overcome all of their obstacles, and stay alive, long enough to become a couple?
Good story, interesting characters, loved the interactions between Andy and his twin sister, Sandy. For the most part, it's a sweet romance that brings the 'awww' out of you whether you want to or not. The show down with the stalker really had me on the edge of my seat there for the duration.
My only problem with this book was that a lot of the back story for the characters came out too late and basically recited by one of the secondary characters. It was as if the writer could not find any other way to get the information out there and decided to just dump it all out in short bursts. Maybe some flashbacks would have done the job in a subtler way?
Anyway, it had its good moments and I look forward to reading something else by this author.
i liked the two main guys and enjoyed the story overall. parts dragged and getting random POV's from lee and the private investigator did nothing for me but pull me out of the story
This won’t be the most profound thing I’ve every said, but HOLY COW! This book was amazing!! It was picked for me as part of a reading challenge and I think I owe my challenge partner a big thank you:)
I can’t recall another book that so quickly and thoroughly gripped me in its clutches and made me regret every time I had to set it aside to do something else. I was mesmerized with the stalker aspect of the storyline – especially during the latter half of the book. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to find out how things were going to progress and turn out.
The other WOW factor in this book was the insta-lust that occurred between Nick and Andy. These guys together were scorching hot and the author did a fantastic job of burning up the pages when they got down to business. Looking beyond their incredible sex scenes, the characters of Nick and Andy were nicely developed. Andy, the librarian and target of the stalker, was very unique and had some, shall we say, unexpected surprises? Very nice indeed! The relationship between them grew rather quickly from pure lust to a deeper emotional connection and eventually to love. It felt natural to me and really warmed my heart that neither one shied away from what they were feeling and OMG, they actually talked whenever they had a question or doubt or wanted to know more or were feeling possessive. What a refreshing change of pace!
This was my first book by this author, but won’t be my last and I intend to pay this one forward in terms of recommendations to others. Buy it and read it – it’s totally worth it!!!
If you believe in love at first sight, you will like this one. Andy works as librarian and he meets Nick who is searching a cookbooks. In few minutes, Andy manages to know that Nick is single, gay (he lives in the gayest neighborhood of Houston) and quite a good catch having a good work and a pretty property loft. From that day life seems to go on roller coast and they seem unable to stay far from each other.
Both Nick than Andy's family have the chance to see the two lovebirds together and seal they agreement to the union. But it's not all roses under the sun: Andy has a stalker who is not so happy to see the man have a love relationship, and the situation can become pretty ugly.
All the novel is more centered on the relationship between Andy and Nick than on the stalker problem. Both men are not so young, around thirty, but they are young regarding love. Nick is grown with one night stands and with one only important relationship, ended pretty badly. Andy is suffering from a abandoned child syndrome and every time he has the chance to be near someone else, both for friendship or love, he avoids to be involved; the only real relationship he maintains is with his twin sister, since she passed the same experience as a child.
So when they meet, they are not ready to admit that what they have is love, but it's very clear to everyone else. Everytime Nick or Andy try to put a boundaries to their relationship, soon after they have broken the rule. There are not real problems on their love, and the story is pretty sexy: there is a lot of sex, but of the "old way" type; yes, they experiment a bit, but always inside their couple: from the moment they met, both of them know that they are an unbreakable unit.
Nick and Andy have to face a bit of prejudice during their story, but they are not big obstacle, and all in all they have a good life: young, handsome and wealthy, they are a quite perfect couple. Miss Me? is a rest and relax reading, more since it's also setting for a part in Cancun.
Parts of the story dragged on, and the writing annoyed me in places. Also, the sex scenes were numerous and didn't do anything for me, and I ended up skimming through most of them. The suspense kept me interested though, and I liked the characters. This was very middle-of-the-road for me.
I was engaged thru the book. It was definately a relationship builer with a bit of danger. Yes, the storyline has probably been done too many times, but it's the characters that really shined.
Insta-love. Tons of repetitive sex scenes while failing to actually build on the relationship. Omniscient3rd person POV. Anti-climatic ending. And what would have been a two-star book was bumped down to one star with one of Nick's last lines: Considering the whole Lee scenario and that this line is supposed to be romantic(?), it seems pretty inappropriate and his choice in wording is just crude.
When I saw that so many people gave this book more than one star, my jaw dropped... To see that it received 5 from the majority shocked me even more!! Did we read the same book?
Initially, I was excited to read this when I saw the summary on Amazon.Com.. It seemed like a great read and boy, oh boy, was I WRONG! There must have been little to no editing (I'm a grammar freak) and that annoyed me. The vocabulary was obvious with its repetitiveness, *especially* when it came to the sex scenes. Towards the middle of the novel, I found myself skipping them just to finish the damn thing.
This novel bored me and I only finished it because I had to pay for it. Overall, it was a quick read and you will learn no new vocabulary whatsoever. This book had potential, but its execution was mundane at best. Please do not waste your money. When I saw that the author had the nerve to write a sequel, I just lost all hope for him...
He should really work on his writing and try publishing again in a few years.
This was a mediocre little tale about a librarian, his stalker and the new squeeze, Nick. It took me to the 80% mark to remember which character was which - never a good sign - as the characters were so bland and similar. The sex scenes were eye-rolling-ly annoying as Spenser failed to use enough pronouns and the reader had to wade through too many...”Nick did...”; “Nick bent...”; “Nick sighed as...”; I’d add the other characters name but I’ve forgotten it in the 10 minutes since I read the book. This book is an undemanding read but I won’t be re-reading it unless I’m paid to or held at gun point.
I only rate with 1* the books I hated, so I gave this one 2* which is actually not an accurate description of how much I liked (or didn't like) this book.
I'm astounded at the glowing 5* reviews of this story. For me it was a collection of repetitive sex scenes of the same characters who jumped into bed with a case of insta-lust which miraculously transformed into deeper connection in the next chapter. After their second sex scene I skimmed through the rest of them which left me with only few sentences of actual plot... I didn't outright hate it, but it was bland, repetitive and made me long for the end. I won't be reading anything from this author again.
Hot relationship, with a psycho stalker. Luckily our hero saves the day and there is what we presume is a HEA. I thought we were going to have a civil union/commitment ceremony but it ended suddenly. This makes me suspicious that there is heat sheet or something in the wings.
I liked the characters, which was just as well as they leapt into bed a bit too soon I thought.
I have only given 3 stars, I would have liked 3.5 but defintely not 4, because while it was good, and I liked the characters I felt as if there was something missing.
