La scena riprende esattamente da dove era stata lasciata l’ultimo volume. Anche questo numero è una lunga spiegazione attraverso i personaggi dei fatti successi che hanno portato all’uccisione di Osiride da parte di Seth la prima volta. Il fatto che Osiride e poi Iside siano a conoscenza di tutto quello che sta succedendo e ne siano anche i responsabili mi ha scioccato. Quanto Osiride e la sua ossessione per il fratello è radicata in lui ne abbiamo giusto un assaggio in questo volume con anche una delle scene più spicy viste finora. Il fatto che Iside sia già da subito a conoscenza del tradimento del marito e lanci una maledizione che si ritorca anche su se stessa, essendone consapevole, dimostra tutta la sua forza e il suo spirito vendicativo.
A farne le spese almeno per ora e in questo volume, Horus ma soprattutto Anubi, i figli delle divinità che vengono manovrati come burattini, in cui spero in un riscatto futuro.
Ma Seth è il personaggio più enigmatico: il personaggio grigio per eccellenza, in realtà viene sfruttato e additato come cattivo, quando in realtà si sta immolando al fratello per salvare il figlio e nel contempo cerca di escogitare di conquistare il potere.
Un plot twist continuo che ribalta le dinamiche tra i personaggi e la scoperta delle loro vere motivazioni mostra punti di vista diversi e sfaccettature nuove mantenendo alta l’attenzione del lettore e incollato alle pagine.

Alot more big reveals to make the story have even more twists and turns. I was having a hard time with the timeline a bit. It just felt a little back and forth, and I would forget if I was in present day or in a flashback. Still incredibly interesting story.

Questo volume mi ha abbastanza sconvolta, penso che sia la parte più cruda e violenta che io abbia mai letto in un manhwa e sinceramente mi ha abbastanza disturbata.
Eravamo partiti con due volumi abbastanza lineari per poi passare al terzo, e soprattutto a questo quarto volume, con tematiche molto violente e che in parte non le ho trovate molto giustificate.
Per fortuna dalla seconda metà di questo volume la trama si "raddrizza" e torniamo a cercare di capire altri misteri ancora senza risposta.
Ormai sono al quarto volume di sei e terminerò la serie, anche se sinceramente non mi è proprio piaciuta questa ripida discesa verso la violenza.
Inoltre...Boy's love? Dove esattamente? Qui gli unici rapporti sono non consensuali...
Direi che il vero genere per questo manhwa per ora sia dark fantasy con del dark romance.

Again, more of 4.5 stars. This volume frustrated me to no ends because why is Osiride so insufferable. I hope he dies again for real, painfully and permanently.
Horus is just a puppy as of right now and with new more chapter I realize that Seth is the most “normal” one of them all😭 the rest is a bunch of spineless losers.
Can’t wait to have the next volume

I'm still not sure how I feel about this series. On one hand, it is incredibly f-ed up and the organization of the dialogue bubbles leaves something to be desired. On the other, I'm intrigued. Idk if I'll read volume 5 or not.

I'm so happy to finally have this in a physical English release! The cover looks beautiful on both hardcover and paperback editions. And some typos are gone from what's in the Tappytoon translation, so it's great to have this!

Overall, it's a wonderful continued exploration of the dark history of these characters. This volume focuses a lot in particularly on Isis and Osiris, with a bit of Seth's complicated mental health before and after Osiris' death. It's an interesting exploration of how powerful men in patriarchal societies can abuse their families and systems to fuel their own ego and obsessions, and blame everyone but themselves for their own failure. Osiris is that guy who not only refuses to take no for an answer but also obsesses over things he imagines are the only reasons his target of affection isn't interested in him yet, and when he fails, he refuses to acknowledge failure. He's manipulate, selfish, and doesn't care about Seth as a person, but rather as an object to be claimed. There are a lot of guys like him in the world. And the manhwa is interesting in how it explores male victims of assault, and how men are also unsafe under patriarchy and around toxic masculinity.

This part of the story also well explores how connected Isis and Seth are: how betrayal by the people they loved and trusted made them panic and screw up, Seth first rushing in to confront Osiris, and Isis with almost killing Anubis and then casting her curse, which also affected her. While they've both suffered, Isis is still a woman in a largely patriarchal society, and suffered greatly when she fled, first when Seth stuck her in the labyrinth, and then on the run, raising Horus alone, while Seth relentlessly pursued her. The problem is that she's decided her refusal of Seth when he came to her for help based on how he treated her after her refusal. She refuses to acknowledge his pain, and views it in the light of her own: a ruthless means to an end, Seth to save Anubis, and Isis to get revenge on Osiris, Nephthys, Seth, and all the gods who turned their backs on her. They're both hurting badly, and have hurt each other, and Seth is too afraid and Isis too in pain and angry to acknowledge it properly and bridge the gap between them.

Seth's power being on display is also really cool. Even when he's drugged, hurting, panicking, and afraid, he still uses his sand to defend himself and attack Osiris. He breaks free of the vines. He makes a bargain, offering himself to save Anubis. He tricks Osiris into killing himself. His triumph in the wake of Osiris being patronizing towards him is honestly really great. And it's all the more sad when you can see how much he's despairing in his various attempts to kill himself and break free of Osiris. He really just wants out, by any means necessary. And it's really good he waited to see what Osiris would do, rather than heading to Duat.

Meanwhile, we learn a lot about godly morality, with Isis' role as the one who floods the Nile to deal with the human population when it gets to be too much, and Osiris' incredibly detached derangement and self-obsession, versus Seth and Isis' concern for Anubis. These beings are really just far and away from human ethics, but there's still humanity in at least some of them. Horus' struggle to comprehend it all is painful, but you root for him to try to make sense of it, particularly since he's just there to be Isis' vengeance, rather than have a life of his own.

It's excellent tragedy, wonderful drama, and all wrapped up in really great world-building and art. Looking forward to volume 5!

Bueno, si el volumen anterior tuvo a mi cerebro haciendo corto circuito. Este lo mató y lo revivió al grito de: jódete Osiris!!!

Es que de verdad, con esa revelación sufrieron todos. Sufre Nephtys, sufre Isis, sufre Seth, sufre Anubis... TODOS MENOS OSIRIS (brocoli constipado del demonio, ojalá Horus y Seth cojan frente a tu cadáver). Creo que una cosa es descubrir la obsesión tóxica que Osiris tiene con Seth, pero que se haya involucrado en tantas cosas como manipular a Nephtys y hacer que esa traición ponga a Seth justo donde él quiere, en un momento vulnerable y así aprovecharse de él y revelar su plan real (usar el alma de Anubis para crear a un hijo que sea de Seth y Osiris, porque en la lógica de este aloe nefasto "si amor para él es que le den un hijo, yo también puedo darle uno (no)").

También lo de que Isis sabía me dejó en el piso. En parte tengo sentimientos encontrados, porque aunque entiendo sus motivos, me sienta mal que toda la culpa termine recayendo en Seth. Su lógica de "pudiste confiar en mí primero" es entendible, pero igual sabiendo lo hdp que es Osiris siento que sin importar lo que hicieran, habrían acabado igual. Creo que esa es la parte trágica de todo esto, que la confianza se perdió entre los cuatro: Nephtys con su "error" (yo pienso firmemente que es culpa de Osiris, por eso lo pongo así), Seth con las decisiones que tomó después del abuso (no confiar en Isis y pasar siglos asesinando para encontrarla), Osiris quitándose la máscara y revelando sus asquerosos deseos; y Isis que fue traicionada por cada uno, perdiendo su influencia y poder, obligada a pasar siglos escondida. En fin, que no la culpo por querer venganza hasta la actualidad, pero me sienta mal toda la situación del principio (maldito Osiris).

Ya para terminar con la seriedad digo: Anubis chiquito es tan lindo, muero. Y durante todo este tomo Horus estuvo en pelotas, ese es un dato muy importante. Ya quiero pasar al siguiente!

Die Macht des Spiegels und ihre weitreichenden Folgen kommen allmählich ans Licht. Geplagt von Reue über das, was er Seth angetan hat, steht Horus vor einer Entscheidung, die nicht nur die Zukunft Ägyptens beeinflussen wird, sondern auch seine Beziehung zum Kriegsgott. Währenddessen vollbringt Seth das Undenkbare und fleht Isis an, Anubis zu retten!

Mit großer Vorfreude habe ich auf den vierten Band gewartet – und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht! Die Reihe steigert sich mit jedem neuen Band selbst. Die Spannung zieht sich durch die gesamte Geschichte und wir erfahren viel über die Hintergründe der Charaktere, deren komplexe Persönlichkeiten und persönlichen Rachefeldzüge. Schonungslos werden die Masken einzelner Figuren abgerissen, und es offenbart sich ein erschreckendes Bild der Grausamkeit.

Besonders Seths Hintergrund fand ich äußerst fesselnd, und ich habe mittlerweile definitiv mehr Sympathie für ihn als zu Beginn.

Ich bin jetzt schon sehr gespannt auf die letzten beiden Bände!

Diese Reihe kann ich absolut empfehlen, insbesondere die Printversion. Ich liebeee die Goldveredelung auf dem Cover!

**Even darker than the last volume. Serious r*pe trigger warning for anyone who can’t read stuff like that.

Wow… I hate Isis more than I already did. Just the ultimate pick me who would rather look at her brother as competition rather than a victim of her husband.
Side note: the monologuing is doing a lot of heavy lifting telling the story but I don’t care. I’m invested and I support Seth 200%. Need them all to pay for continuously weaponizing his son against him. Even though this comic is supposed to revolve around Seth & Horus, I’m pleasantly (or not so pleasantly considering it’s not happy times for Seth) surprised that the story is slowly building up to that and instead focuses a lot on Seth & the drama with his siblings and son. After all, Horus is a newcomer. He’s in this mess because his parents dragged him into it. He’s discovering the true story along with us.
I can’t believe I have to wait till March for the next volume. At least Seven Seas releases them in quicker intervals than other publishers. Although that might be why there’s some editing problems in these volumes. They’re $30 a piece for the uncensored version guys c’mon… 😑

This volume is mostly flashbacks of Isis, Seth and Osiris. We do get to know why things are happening in this volume, but it feels slow and plodding. I’m still very annoyed that none of the bubbles point to who’s speaking. I get confused as to who is saying what. I don’t understand why do that.

We see what happened between Seth and Osiris. Osiris was in love with Seth and tried to woo him. Everyone seemed to know. I tell you what, all those gods are crazy. Every one of them. I guess power does truly corrupt. I suppose it’s just a world that corrupts.

Horus is learning much about his family. Who knows what he thinks of it all. How will he go crazy? He must know he has to to be in that family.

I do love this story about Egyptian mythology, but it sure is crazy. I wish things were a little more clear in the writing. I don’t think they used a person to translate. I think it’s a program of some sort. Maybe, that’s why things are a little confusing. Oh well.

I enjoy this story and it’s getting a little old. It ends on a cliff hanger. We also get to see how Osiris dies.

I’ll read Vol. 5.

Una delle parti di questa serie più pesanti e con più TW.
Povero Seth quante ne subisce in questo volume (anche se più avanti sarà anche peggio). Ho sempre trovato Osiride una divinità odiosa e questo manhwa non fa che confermarlo.
In questo volume viene raccontata da Iside e Seth la fatidica notte dell'uccisione di Osiride, il suo tradimento contro Iside, l'orribile violenza contro Seth e chi è davvero Anubi, intanto quel fesso di Horus sta continuando la sua bella chiaccherata rivelatrice con quella carogna di Sekhmet. L'Ennead fra tradimenti, figli illegittimi, morti che tornano in vita e incesti vari sembra una telenovela argentina, e io non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo volume.

I don’t know what to rate this volume. Like rereading the earlier chapters all these years later have helped me understand so many things that had been confusing me for so long, but I hate that most of this volume was the flashback to what Osiris did to Set. It’s difficult to read but also extremely frustrating seeing Isis here and the way she tries to rationalise how she felt after seeing what she saw. She’s extremely hypocritical and selfish so honestly I find it it impossible to ever pity her or be on her side.

oh my GODDDD the story just gets deeper and more intense 😭😭 In this volume we learn a lot of backstory, and it's greatly appreciated! Everything is so messed up, and I fucking HATE Osiris. I still love Seth and now I feel so terrible for the things he had to go through 🥹🥹

I'm addicted to this, it's honestly one of the coolest comics I've ever read. AHHHH!! 💕✨
