Ani jedna ovšem není připravena na to, co najde…
I love a good mystery, don't you? I've always loved reading them and watching them, trying to figure them out. Now I love crafting them. It's a mind-blowing blessing to be able to do the work that I truly love every day of the week, every week of the year. I'm living proof that dreams DO come true. Here's to chasing them!
Let me prefix this review with this: I enjoyed this book very much. It kept me guessing until about 98% through which is a rarity for me since I read way too many mysteries. HOWEVER, you’re going to find yourself going “oh, come on!” A LOT toward the end. Verdict: It’s worth suspending belief for this fun and twisty ride.
Apparently I am one of very few that didn't care for this book. There were so many holes in the story it was impossible to truly get invested in it. The whole time I was reading it I'm thinking ya, right, ha, and ridiculous.
(1) Gabe & Shannon's son, Daulton goes missing. They are told to not go to the police or he will die. If they prove they are trustworthy he will eventually be returned. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and no one notices Daulton is missing? Friends, neighbors, relatives.... no one questions where he is? Are these two hermits? (2) Then Shannon gets a clue, and with the help of Gabe's sister, Grace they track down the kidnappers. They move in "Right Next Door." The kidnappers (Marcy & John) have Daulton dressed as a girl and changed his name to Caroline. While Gabe & Shannon become friendly with Marcy & John, they don't recognize their own child? Neither does Daulton recognize his parents! So what if he has "longer hair" (which makes you think a year or more has gone by) and is wearing a dress. You would think a mother would recognize her own child! (3) While living next door, Gabe & Shannon have a nanny (Gabe's sister) and she is taking care of a younger child. Who's child? Where did this un-named child come from? Gabe & Shannon only had Daulton. Is this Grace's child? (4) Grace has a husband and family of her own. I don't think any husband would let his wife go off to another state for an undetermined amount of time with her brother to track down kidnappers.
The title is intriguing, but this book wasn't worth my time.

Moving to the suburbs of South Carolina is the fresh start that John and Marcy Stanley are looking forward to. Everything about this quaint town allows the couple to feel at ease with their new home. In fact – the couple made friends pretty quickly with the neighbors. Everything about the suburbs is proving to be perfect for this family of three.
The Coves is also the place that Jill and Mark call home. While the two quickly become friends with the Stanley family, Jill and Marcy seem to form an instant bond. Both have daughters that are around the same age, leaving Marcy with the feeling that this friendship was meant to be. Soon – a series of strange occurrences leads Marcy to suspect that all is not as it seems with her neighbors. It doesn’t hurt to perform a little investigative work…..does it?
First let me say…..if you haven’t discovered the writing style of Leah Montgomery, please remedy that!! Right Next Door is a psychological thriller from the author that will take you on an unforgettable journey. There is a simultaneous plot running through the story. Why? Well….that is something you as the reader will have to figure out.
Montgomery has found a way to weave uncertainty with the plot in a way that will keep you guessing until the end. I am determined not to give ANY pieces of information about this story away! There are moments when you think you know what is going to unfold, but then another twist pops up that makes you realize you were wrong with your guess!! As someone that ALWAYS figures out the plot to a thriller….I found myself constantly trying to solve the elements that make this story so unique. Nothing about this story is predictable. Right Next Door is the thriller that will make you question EVERYTHING that you uncover in the story!! A magnificent thriller for any fan of the genre!!
This was one of the worst books I have read in a while. There were random typos and grammatical errors, the characters were unbearable and the plot was ridiculous. I can not believe I finished. #perseverance
Leah Montgomery has a very wicked mind. She gives us stories that will take you on a roller coaster ride. Her plot twists and turns are so unexpected, they knock you off your seat.
Right Next Door starts off with a bang….she sucks the reader in right away in the prologue. I was already invested in this story once I read the blurb. This book is 100% psychological thriller!! There really isn’t a romance storyline to this book at all, so don’t go in looking for one. The tension, secrets, mystery and suspense Leah gives us in this story will keep you turning the pages.
I will say this, I did find that this story slowed down for me towards the middle. It was a little slower pace than I generally like. I was hoping for things to start unraveling sooner in the story. But even with that said, this was an entertaining and mind bending story. I truly couldn’t figure out how this story was going to play out. I thought I had it figured out a time or two, but I was completely wrong.
I am not going to discuss the storyline at all. I think the blurb sets this story up perfectly and that any additional information would be a spoiler. This is a story I would recommend going into blind. Finding out certain things before hand, could potentially ruin the suspense factor of the story for readers.
As I have said before, Leah Montgomery is a fairly new author to this genre and this is only her second book released. But as I said after I read her debut novel….Girl On A String, I think Leah has a fantastic future in this genre of books.
I would 100% recommend this book to readers. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and blow your mind in the end with how it all works out. If you are a fan of a psychological thriller, this is the book to read. Give this new author a try, I don’t think you will be sorry!!!
I wanted to give this book more stars, but it just seems like the author should have taken one more swing at another draft.
The premise is very intriguing. In fact, it's even more intriguing than the synopsis on the back of the book. However, the character development is really lacking. The dialogue sounds more like witty banter which does not fit the mood or the story.
The surprise ending is what makes the story cool, but it really just didn't fit with the way the characters were acting throughout the story. In a Jekyll and Hyde situation, you have to see a little bit of Jekyll in Hyde and vice versa. I didn't get that here. Especially Marcy. The author dreamed up a great character, I think. However, she didn't really bring her to life. There's so much more that she could have done with Marcy's development.
I did find the writing for Shannon throughout the first 2/3 of the book to be quite good. It got to a point where I just sort of breezed through Marcy so I could get to Shannon's story.
The biggest part that bothered me, though, was the part where we learn at the end Caroline is not autistic. She was made to act that way through brainwashing. To me that's very offensive. Autism is not torture.
And I do have to agree with some of the other posters that the typos and misspellings were very distracting. Even if this book was published independently, if it's going to be sold to the public, the standards need to be raised.

Leah Montgomery delivers once again and it is so hard to write a review for this book. So I’m going to keep this short and sweet because there are so many things I could spoil. I don’t read this genre all that often, but I enjoyed Leah Montgomery’s debut so I could not pass this up and I am so glad I read this one. The book kept me on the edge of my seat and I just could not stop reading. The book is addictive and engaging and oh holy wow the twists took me by surprise. I read a lot, so I’m not always caught off guard, but this book got me good. And not once, but twice. The character dynamics in this book are so detailed and complex and this book has so many layers to be pulled back. And the way she balances the differing perspectives and slowly pulls them together is done perfectly. The writing in this book is so good and feels so effortless when we all know it is not. This author just knows how to tell a story and knows how to tell it well. Just, all in all, a great read.
When it comes to suspense Leah Montgomery knows exactly how to make you sit on the edge of your seat. From the very first page you will be draw in to the story of John & Marcy Stanley and their neighbors Mark & Jill Halpern. The twists and turns of this book will have you scratching your head and thinking oh this is going to happen but when you turn the page something else totally does. I know while reading this I felt myself gasp at times, having to put it down and walk away at times but when I picked it back up I was drawn right back in. If you are looking for a book that will have you guessing what is going to happen don’t hesitate to pick up this book because you will be saying WOW when you finally have all the answers.
This book is told in the POV of two women. Once you start reading you will understand why. It was a edge of your seat twisted read. Just when I thought I had it figured out Montgomery went and changed everything up on me. And left me with jaw my on the floor. And left me questioning why throughout the entire book. This was a great read. My only issue was in the middle of the book it did slow a little before it picked up again. I can't wait for more from this author.
Completely mind blowing. This is a very dark and twisted book. I finished it in one sitting because I had to know how this story would all come together. The writing was perfect and I loved how I kept second guessing myself. The characters had some many sides to their personalities and I wasn't sure who to root for. In the end I was left shocked but loved the journey this book took me on. This should be on everyone's TBR.
BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!!! Oh my goodness!! Blew my mind!! You want to solve a mystery?? Want to be shocked and blown away too?? YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!! I could not put it down and was seriously blown away at the ending!! AWESOMENESS!!!
Great weekend read. Very clever and I’d like to give it more stars, but the writing seemed to get bogged down in minutiae at times while skimming over more interesting aspects.

This book was crazy good! John and Marcy can't believe their good luck when a new couple moves in next door. Jill and Marcy strike up a fast friendship, but Jill's husband Mark remains distant and aloof. One day Marcy gets a disturbing letter in the mail that was meant for the neighbors next door...and she realizes Mark is hiding something.
Every other chapter is Shannon's story, a woman who was kidnapped, chained, and held captive, until one day, almost inexplicably, she was let go. Once freed, she will stop at nothing to find her tormentor.
Both Shannon and Marcy want answers, and it's one hell of a thrill ride that leads to an explosive ending I never saw coming.
10/2109—— This book had me hooked from start to finish. It had me edgy. I had to know what was going to happen next. It kept me guessing and guessing. At the end it left me like OhMgee. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. If you love a good mystery suspense. Then this is your book. Leah has given us an amazing book, and It’s a must read. Get it, Read it Now!!!
1/2020—— It still so freaking good. Those chapters where it was all revealed it has you like, Wowzers.
At first I thought the book was trite and rather stupid. These people just didn't come across as normal. As it continued, though, it got more interesting. People can look stupid and simple if they're all playing a part. There's only two scenarios for this book to follow but it still comes as a surprise.
Although this story was somewhat predictable, and also very boring at times, I still enjoyed it. I do find it very hard to believe that the neighbor.. Nor the child.. Had no clue who one another was. If it weren't so slow is consider reading it a second time to gather my thoughts from a different perspective.
I read thrillers. I devour them. Sometimes I read two or three a week. Believe me this is one of the best crafted thrillers\mysteries i have ever read. If you figure this one out before the ending you have an amazing ability and should be writing them yourself.
Whoa. There is nothing quite like a book with so many twists and turns, even if you figure out some of them, you still end up shaking your head and wondering where the heck that came from. I struggled a little with the pace in the beginning but am so glad I stuck with it. VERY well done.
The book it self was written in a way which made me enjoy the story. It was a fast paced read with interesting characters. But there were way tooooo many plot holes (check the "spoiler" reviews if you wish) for me to enjoy it and go "yup, this will be my favourite"
Rounded up from a 2.75 star rating. I listened to the audiobook and from the start I disliked Marcy's voice. I felt it was too overzealous, almost teenage like. I enjoyed Shannon's story and character much more. I must admit I was intrigued with the ending.
You guys I’ve been in such a book slump 😭. This is like the sixth book I’ve tried reading. I actually got 60% of the way through it and then it got so dumb. This is what I get for trusting books only found on kindle unlimited. Horrible writing.
A little predictable but good. Needs editing but I enjoyed the read. I had it figured out pretty quickly, but there were a few interesting plot twists.
