Forgiveness is the least talked about, but most important leadership soft skill. This book uses lessons from improvised comedy and mindfulness practice to teach leaders how to make forgiveness - of big and small things - a part of their daily lives, and in doing so, how to completely transform the cultures they influence. This is a book for heart-centered leaders who want to find more joy and peace in their lives and work, and who want to build world-changing cultures through intention and integrity.
Andrea describes how to pivot in conversations, confrontations, and collaborations with an excellent balance of humor and vulnerability. The skills and examples she shares can be applied to personal relationships as well as any group setting, such as the workplace. The fundamental changes Andrea suggests start within the self, and the key difference from other conflict resolution approaches proposed here is that forgiveness can happen even if the other party is absent or unwilling to engage, and what a freeing, hopeful thought that is!
The author's Voice. That is my favorite thing about this book. And, no - I did not listen to the audiobook. I am talking about her literary voice, which is up close and personal, totally relatable, and quote-worthy. When you read this book, you are listening to a funny and wise friend with big heart-felt ideas who sees you joyfully succeeding in life.
The author approaches life, leadership and relationships from a fresh perspective. Several points were exceptionally poignant, putting words to things I've often thought but struggled to verbalize. Very human writing style, almost conversational. Dips into some softer theory from time to time that is difficult to implement in the real world, but her eternal optimism is something to be admired.
