Grow up, get a job, find a partner, have a family, live the dream. This was always the plan...with some deviations along the way. Using sarcasm and vulnerability, Morwenna speaks about growing up, finding love, and then struggling when the rest of “the plan” isn’t meant to be. This is the raw & real story of one couple’s rollercoaster ride as they discover infertility, try various treatments, suffer an adoption reversal, and learn to make new plans and find the funny moments. A raw, sarcastic, and sometimes funny account of the struggles of growing up, dealing with infertility, fertility treatments, and the adoption process.
This book is a beautiful glimpse into the world of a couple navigating infertility. It will run you through the full gamut of emotions. I laughed out loud many times, and I also cried hard a few times.
The author’s style is frank but filled with character. You’ll come away from this book feeling like you know exactly who she is. She doesn’t sugar coat the hard stuff.
I loved how this wasn’t just about their fertility struggles. This book delved into the authors childhood and past experiences that have led her to where she is in life, which just happens to be a woman trying desperately to become a mother.
This felt so personal for me, as Trevenen is also in Winnipeg. She doesn't name names, but as we have only the one fertility clinic in town, its also the clinic where I am being treated. So far, my experiences with the clinic have been ok, but I didn't feel particularly reassured with my cycle day 1 experience - this first cycle of IUI I am having.
Spoilers for those of you who have read this and weren't certain the outcomes (I needed to know upon completion - the biggest literary cliffhanger EVER), Morwenna and her partner seem to have been successful, and have a little boy! If anyone deserves a little happiness after that journey its those two!

Wow. There are not a lot of books out there that bear the soul of the author like this one. A raw, honest, and uplifting roller coaster of a journey told in vivid detail. I just kept shaking my head in disbelief at the countless roadblocks, and emotional heartbreaks that she describes. And then kept moving forward with fierce determination!! I could not recommend this important book enough. It reads like a heart to heart with a close friend.
The author wrote about a very hard subject with such humour and grace that it was laugh out loud funny at times. You identify with her and feel for all the families who go through infertility while also marveling at the absurdity of the system. This book is vulnerable, heartfelt, and absolutely worth reading.
A deeply moving and, also, hilarious recounting of the ups and downs of infertility. As someone who struggled to get pregnant, I wish I had Morwenna's book to lean on. Highly readable, deeply personal, and an overall great read.
This is a great read especially if struggling with infertility! The author tells a story of the rollercoaster ride of infertility, while shedding light on a difficulty topic. Could not put the book down once I started... I highly recommend!!!
An incredible story! It is difficult subject matter told with such a unique approach. The roller coaster of emotions felt throughout this read, shows the great talent of Morwenna in her debut book!
