I was raised on lies, but the truth might be the death of me.
It wasn’t easy to free my mind from all the lies the Lux Academy raised me on, but I’m finally coming to terms with who I really am.
I’ve only started to accept my new life and what I must do when Val—the only friend I thought I had left from my previous life—kidnaps me and promises to make me pay for Magistrate Magnus’s death.
As he drags me away, I know I won’t get a fair trial and must accept my grim fate.
But I’m in for a surprise because my new pack isn’t ready to give up on me and is determined to make me a candidate in their alpha trials.
Will the shifter blood running in my veins help me rise to the challenge? Or will the city rat remain a city rat forever?

In the previous book, Jaz was reunited with her true family but struggled to come to terms with the sense of anger and betrayal she felt at the lies of those who had raised her. Worst of all, her efforts to warn Val about the fate of the failed initiates fell on deaf ears.
Before she can carve out a new destiny with her pack, she is kidnapped by Val who promises to make her pay for Magistrate Magnus’s death. Resigned to the likelihood that she will not get a fair trial, Jaz is unprepared for the lengths that the Academy is willing to go to silence her or the level of vindictiveness in their retribution..
Blood of the Fallen is the second compelling instalment of the highly entertaining Wild Packs set in the Sunderverse. The book picks up immediately after the events of the previous instalment. Any lingering loyalty that Jaz had towards Val and the magistrates of Lux Academy is finally put to rest following her horrific ordeal at their hands.
It’s now clear that the threat posed by the Academy has increased exponentially with several neighbouring packs falling victim - their adults slaughtered and their children taken to be indoctrinated into the Academy. As a candidate for her pack’s alpha trials, Jaz must up her game if she is to succeed in taking down Lux Academy once and for all. Will her shifter blood rise to the challenge or will the city rat remain a city rat forever?
The author never ceases to tick every box for me with her exceptional character development, relentless pacing and myriad plot twists. Don’t kid yourself that you’ll be doing anything other than reading on the day that you delve into this one - I was hooked line and sinker from the very first page.
Highly recommended for fans of paranormal romance, strong female characters, shifters, witches, mages, triads, alpha trials, academies, betrayal and peril.
The first book really drew me in. This book was just as fast but I felt a little let down at the lack of relationship building through the triad. Once her mate had been decided, it seemed like the other two just went off and it was always her and him having the interactions which made it hard for me to believe they would triumph as a team against the academy. I would have liked to see some more team relationship building. A more “found family” vibe within the triad. This was still a good read!
Man does Ingrid Seymour know how to write a book. I was completely enraptured by Blood of the Fallen so much that I forgot that this series is set in the same world as Toni's and Lucia's books, it's the same universe, and somehow I forgot that until someone mentioned skew and it clicked. I mean I was in that deep. Blood of the Fallen is the second book in Sheela's (who was formally known as Jazmin, I know right) series and the perfect sequel to Howl of the Forgotten. There is pack politics, bonds, a forgotten past, and an uncertain future, not to mention the trials for the triad's alpha. It was great.
Sheela has made great progress in overwriting the Academy's brainwashing and is making an actual effort with the pack. Her eyes have been opened, but now so is her mind. Sheela is learning pack life while coming to terms with all that was taken from her, all that was done to her, and as her past is slowly revealing itself she is finally realizing what has been done to her and what her life could have been. Sheela is incredibly strong she has been through so much and is still going through a lot more all thanks to the Academy, their attacks, and even pack members who have little compassion, and while she may feel overwhelmed but she's still standing and is more than willing to open her heart. Not only is Sheela is forming connections with Ila, her sister, Bethal, and the triad but she is also trying with the pack and some members seem open to her, especially an adorable little girl name Nirliq, I love her.
I read way too many (if there ever is a thing) reverse harems, I so wanted this to be one but at last, it's not. The guys are supporting Sheela, they want her to be their alpha. The guys are bonding with her and actively helping her connect with her shifter side but it's Kall who seems to ignite hotter feelings in Sheela, especially now that she realizes her prejudices and that they all stem from lies, Sheela is open and a little more flirtatious with him while the others have become people she can depend on. I also love the bond that she is forming with Ila, they are truly becoming sisters, and Bethal is a true friend.
So the plot around this book was centered on Sheela adjusting to pack life and on the trials to determine the triad's alpha. The trials were interesting and had me extremely nervous because Desna is still around with her bad attitude and a person like her doesn't need that kind of power. The first trial was interesting but it was the other two that really got my blood pumping, I loved those action scenes. Speaking of action scenes that fight between the wildings and the Academy hasn't dialed back in the least, if anything it's a lot more riled up. The attacks and devastation were epic all the way around. Things didn't go how I expected, more than one outcome had my jaw dropping and me asking a lot more questions about the Academy. I swear the way Seymour pulls these things together just amazes me and I love that she can always surprise me with her plots, her books are so unique.
Blood of the Fallen with its fast-paced plot had captured me from the beginning and made me have all kinds of feels throughout the story. With the past being unveiled, relationships developing into something a whole lot more, evil rearing its ugly head, a betrayal, fantastic plot developments, and more about Sheela's role being revealed, how could I not devour this book. Seymour has created a fantastic universe with these series, Sheela's story is a great addition, I can't wait to see where the story goes next because the way that Blood of the Fallen ended I don't have a clue where the story is going next but where ever it leads I'm willing to go.
Loving this series 💖 so much happens it just keeps u hooked to keep going...
After Val kidnaps Sheela at the end of book 1, this starts off with her facing down her old academy peers tied to a tree as they prepare to kill her for her apparent betrayal of the academy but as we know it's all an act partly for Val's benefit as he doesn't yet know what the academy is really doing.... stealing children and then raising them to fight their own families. They say she's a witch and must die like witches do at the stake as they light the pyre around her she's shocked to find her friend Val just allows it with a sick facade of pleasure. The Triad make it to her but her sister and bethayal have to work double time to save her with so much damage done to her and then Val turns his magic which he shouldn't have on the triad somehow disarming them. Sheela feels a bond to the boys even now especially Kall and when she finds out it's all part of a prophecy that a stolen child will return to lead the triad and bring dowm the academy at first she doesn't believe it's her but she becomes determined to become their Alpha and she takes that determination to the trials. But when her pack is trapped and attacked by the academy Sheela will have to go up against her once friend and do something she never thought she'd have to, with most of her pack slaughtered and the children all taken Sheela will have to trust that she and her triad boys will be enough to save them.
This book is the perfect example of why show, don’t tell is so essential for a book to be good. After the previous book I was hoping that this one would dive a little bit deeper when it came to the characters and relationships, but sadly it kept it on surface level just like the previous story. Actually, it was even worse than the previous book since at the beginning of Howl of the Rejected we actually got some character development, but in this one there were none.
It’s hard to explain but the writing was kind of juvenile in the sense that it did not flow naturally a lot of the time with the unnecessary exclamation marks and sentences and dialogues that were only surface deep. A lot of it was attributed to the tell, don’t show format this book had. We don’t get to see how actions affects the characters, how the relationships forms or how they interact with each other. Instead we are told about it, which makes a very unconvincing case (actions speak louder than words and all that). This is probably also why the characters have so little depth to them. There is very little that distinguishes the characters from each other other than (you guessed it) what we’re told. They came across almost like paper cutouts because of this; plenty descriptions of looks but very little behind that. The result of this was that what could have been a tragic climax to the story left very little impact at all, especially since the main character and the character involved barely interacted with each other outside of business interactions.
It was not just that that made the writing feel juvenile to me however. There were just some aspects to the story that came across as super strange from me, like the first challenge (dig a huge hole to prove you’re an alpha?) and unnecessarily detailed recaps. Recaps are of course good to jog the memory of what had happened previously, but not to the extent that a scene needs to be written out again or things needs to be repeated more than two times. One recap was not even correct since it was Kall that brought her to the pack and not Novuk. Another thing is the main character’s touch phobia. I do not get it at all, mainly because it’s not explained, only hinted at at most with the whole dead bodies trauma. But to me it feels unrealistic that she would react that way and that strongly to a simple touch of hands, especially since it seems to be person related, since some can touch her and some can’t. There is only in one situation where I would except this kind of phobia to be realistic especially to such a severe degree and as proven by the writing in this book, that matter would be way too mature for the author to be able to handle well.
This book is kinda put in a weird spot where the writing makes it difficult to be enjoyable for adults with its lack of depth and maturity, yet has mature content in it that feels out of place because of the former. It has left me sort of confused as to who it is supposed to be directed towards. It had its enjoyable moments though, with the action and the friendship that turned ugly (with an unsatisfying ending sadly) and the whole wolf shifter business, which is why I give it three stars.
Jazmin has greatly transformed to Sheela - the girl she once was, and the woman she was meant to be. Part of the pack she was born into now, she is learning the shifter life the hard way, overcoming her own fears, anxiety, and trauma, while battling with the nasty behavior of those who want into position of power. Exploring the blooming feelings for a man that was meant to be, the stark contrast to a friend lost is even more pronounced - and reminds us that not everything has a happy ending. Sometimes there is a point of no return, and the tragedy in life is unavoidable. But Sheela's heart remains true to her values, and she is determined to right the wrongs, regardless of danger and pain. A great continuation of this series, eventful, emotional, and maybe a bit educational. There is nothing easy about admitting mistakes and it takes courage to take the hard steps to repair the damage and show true allegiances. Family is everything, but how to make them see and accept? The journey contains a lot of pain, physical and emotional, a lot of hardness and fear, but also a lot of hope, dedication, and trust. I love how the characters are evolving and transforming in this book, are withstanding the bullying into taking actions against their opinion, and do what is right over what is easy. I am very much looking forward to the next book.

If you enjoy Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kelly St. Claire, Shannon Mayer, Linsey Hall or anything paranormal romance, you will love this series.
OMG, suspense action, lies, truth, and love. Jazmin or is it, Sheela? What will she decide to go by? Can she come to accept who she really is and that Lux Academy is out to kill her? When they do get ahold of her to protect a young girl what will they do to her? Will they come and save her? What are these trials, and can she win? Does she what to win? Kall seems to want her bad, does she want him? So much going on I don't want to give all them away, grab your copy and start reading, because you will not want to put it down. I received a free copy for my honest review.
This installment of the Sunderverse Wild Packs series picked up right where it left off with the action! Jaz continues to find out more about her childhood and the ways of the pack life. Unfortunately, her enemies are still set on infiltrating and getting rid of the pack, along with taking the children for the academy. Jaz also discovers more about her feelings toward Kall and struggles with trying to understand them. “Blood of the Fallen” is action-packed, intense, and filled with a myriad of emotions.
I always love everything Ingrid writes. This is no exception. The second book of the wild pack series is so good. The way Sheela comes into terms with who she is and how powerful she can be is so well written. Again, lots of blood is spilled but it still gives a way for the story to become even more complete. I cannot wait to see how things are going to unfold in the next book. I would definitely recommend this series.
Wow, what a ride! I enjoyed every minute of this, I was not bored and there was no time for reader lag because the action never stopped. I'm so glad Val is out of the picture, earlier than I expected, but I can't say I was remotely sad to see him go. I'm hoping Sheela gets a few extra powers though, just being a werewolf feels so....ordinary. Can't wait to see how her story develops with Kall, I can already see the pairings taking shape. Will the gang get to svae everyone and what will it cost them? I can't wait to find out! Exciting stuff!

So I had written a review for this and then somehow swiped it away on the app grrr. But holy dang shifter babies this was an INCREDIBLE and emotional rollercoaster of a read. I did not see that certain thing that happened to her pack…all I remember is going through sooo many emotions 😦🫣😶🥺🥹😢 …dangit I really need that next book now. C’mon post don’t let me down!! I am so invested in their story and I just need to know everything! Those Magistrates have something coming for them…and it’s called KARMA! And it’s gonna burn their hellish operation to the ground.
This is a hold on to the seats of your pants read. So full of action, fast paced and intricate. I love the attention to detail, and the character and world building are wonderful. Jaz has defintely become Sheela once more. So many things going on, and I love the way the sisters are rebuilding a relationship. I am so excited for the next one already!
Jaz is back and so is all the action and danger that has become her life. Glued to the end to see what Jaz must face this time around and what she would discover about herself too. Loved the characters and the action. Fast paced and crazy time had by Jaz and her friends and enemies. Could not put it down.
This was a solid middle book. It took a villain into too black and white, rather than gray, territory and summed up his story a little too fast, but otherwise did a great job moving along our story and our heroes journey for all of them. On to the last one!
Her journey from Jazmin to Sheela is now complete. The story takes you through some heart wrenching emotions and chilling violence. She's finally begun to understand exactly what she needs to do, even as she struggles to understand what she truly is.
The life that you knew was all a deveption. Shifter blood is suppressed at Lux Academy, and know knows the truth of their heritage. A fantastic fantasy world of deception, finding your true family and inner power! Jazmin finds her true strength in the end.
OMG this is one hell of a second book! It’s fast paced and action packed and is one hell of a rollercoaster ride that once you get on you will not be able to get off ! It’s an exciting and enthralling read, full of mystery and suspense, danger and twists and turns and some pretty great characters.
What an exciting journey for Jaz/Sheela! Much is revealed in this action packed 2nd book of the the series, I had a hard time putting this book down. I am completely invested in these amazing characters and can't wait to see where the next book takes us!
This is a great story and different from other books I've read. I love how Sheela is coming to tens with who she really is and how patient Kall is with everything going on. I can not wait to see what happens in TBE next book.
I loved it! Sheela finally found herself and accepted who she it. I enjoyed reading this book and seeing more of her life and connecting with others. I can't wait until the next book.
I started reading this a bit slow at first but then wow the story got so deep. After book 1 I couldn't order book w fast enough. The cliffhangers are tough but the story is so worth it. Such an original story in the paranormal world. Must read!!
These have been fun little reads. Short sweet and to the point. I admit, not usually my style to read smaller books, but these have been very enjoyable. Yes I recommend.
A little bit better than the first book. The story is still a bit rough and dark but it's showing promise. I love how Sheela is triumphing through everything she's been through. The trials really show who she really is. Not bad.
