Intense! A forbidden romance with a Romeo and Juliet feel. Deep into the Mafia world with highs and lows as their feelings intensify. A good read.

Oh the feels! This book was, for me, visceral and real and drew so many parallels to Romeo and Juliet. All of the firsts for Lionheart and his Lamb were perfect and spoke truth into their chemistry and story. You’ll have to read it to find out if it meets in Shakespearian tragedy or triumph! Or maybe a little of both……

Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with stealing from the mafia (well that says it all)!

Leo sexy as all get out oldest brother in the Don of Grace crime family who has all the responsibilities on his shoulders and what broad shoulders to carry them on while out handling business in the club he meets the daughter of the family that won’t work with them in fact they are rivals. Alyson is the daughter of the rivals the Scarpati family and like most mafia stories the daughter isn’t really supported by her father when it comes to choosing who she wants to marry but her father gave her a list to choose from but on that list isn’t the one man she met. The attraction is insanely intense but the fear is also real because if her father finds out about them well she will be the cause of a war (but the heart gets what the heart wants) but she is tired of being pawn in her father’s game being sold to the highest bidder but are her choices, will she choose with her heart or will she follow her father’s demands, if she choose him will it cause a war, and will they get their HEA?

Hunter Rose’s style of writing reminds me of early mystery writers such as Erle Stanley Gardner or Ray Chandler or Dashiell Hammett; more sentimental yet still ferociously honest. His word choice and sentence structure is as courageous and sensitive as the characters that live in his novels, especially notable in this book, Relentless King.
Alyson and Leo, a modern “Romeo and Juliet”, take on the mafia that is trying to rid their ranks of Leo and his family. Luca, wants his daughter, Alyson, to choose the son of one of the other mafia leaders, and so she does, but it is not the family that he wishes to join with. The plot soon turns to one of suspense and intrigue as families battle for the top spot.
I am always anxious when I read a Hunter Rose book, anxious, because I never know what to expect. And it doesn’t matter because he is an imaginative and serious writer whose stories are haunting and intense. He writes light humour, heartwarming romance, and strong, dark personalities who want to change the world. His work is refreshing because his well-written characters lead us into a world that is exciting and graphic. The tension all begins when Luca Scarpeti holds a meeting of the heads at his home.
He wants his daughter to have an arranged marriage with one of the other families to strengthen their alliance but he deliberately leaves Leo Grace out of the running.
His father announces his retirement at the meeting with Leo being the next head but then finds himself facing veiled threats by the other five family heads.
When Leo and Alyson meet they hit it off immediately and begin to see each other unbeknown to any one else. But Antonio, her fathers creepy second knows their secret and threatens to out her.
This story has a very old school mafia atmosphere to it and feels different to the numerous mafia stories out there. It’s a well written and thoroughly enjoyable read.
The chemistry and relationship that develops between Leo and Alyson is passionate and romantic albeit surrounded by a ticking time bomb.
A superb start to this series.

Rose got this one right! I was compelled from the first chapter of the book. I did not put it down until I read the last word! The characters were richly captivating. There were many moving parts when it came to this book, and this was one of the top reads of the year for me.

I read the prequel to this and liked it so was eager to read this one, I wasn't disappointed I enjoyed this book. It tells the story of Alyson Scarpati and Leo Grace who belong to rival mafia families, He's going to be the new head of the Grace family when his father retires whilst she's the daughter of a rival family. She’s been ordered to choose a husband from one of the other mafia families but the Grace family isn’t one of her options. But that doesn't seem to matter because once Leo let Alyson know of his interest there were certainly sparks and an almost instant attraction as well as palpable chemistry. I wanted them to be together despite everything that was going against them.
It's a good start to this new series which builds slowly, the author gives us a lot of detail and the plotline flows well and has lots of action and drama as well as many interesting and well-drawn characters.

I loved this story of Leo Grace and his four younger brothers. They are members of a Mafia Family Lionheart that Leo was named for. As the eldest son, his father has trained him to be the next leader and his time to take over is drawing nigh. When Luca Scarpati calls for a meeting of the five families, Leo makes sure to meet Alison, Luca's daughter, when he learns no Grace is on the list of Mafia up-and-comers her father has given her to choose from to marry. What he doesn't know is that Luca has united the other families to squelch the Graces with their control of the Hudson River. When Leo and Alison fall in love and his father is shot dead by one of his own whose family was threatened, the question is whether they should stay together or should Alison pick one of the men her father mandated? Lots of family interaction, thrilling Mafia shootouts, and major life events (weddings and funerals) at which to conduct Mafia business! You won't be able to put this book down.

Eine Mafia-Liebesgeschichte, wie sie besser nicht hätte sein können. Spannend, mit unerwarteten Wendungen, kurzweilig und sehr heißen Sexszenen. Relentless King is the first book in Hunter Rose's new series, Reign of Anarchy. It is a dark Mafia Romance filled with emotion and heartbreak with a side of comedy. This book focuses on the slow-bun relationship between Leo and Alyson. Leo is second in line of the Grace Mafia line and Alyson is the only daughter to the Scarpati Mafia line and entrusted to find a husband but not an enemy like Leo Grace. This is a long book filled with lots of writing and plot points about the two main characters to create a well developed story which I will love re-reading. I highly recommend reading this book and finding more by this author. You won't regret it! I cannot wait for the next instalment to come out and to find out who its about.

I love Maffia stories and this one is also a perfect one. About a mafia princess and a maffia prince. Leo is about to become a Don when he takes over the reins from his father when he meets Alyson at a party hosted by her father.
The attraction and chemistry between them is the same, but they can only show their feelings and affection in secret. Alyson must find a husband from a list her father has of husbands.
This is a great maffia story about doing the right thing or choosing what makes you happy. There is enough tension, danger, romance, dark and steamy scenes and even action and danger. If you like mafia stories, this book is definitely recommended and well worth it!!

We get to meet Leo Grace the eldest brother and new Don of the Grace crime family who meets Alyson Scarpati at a party. Alyson is the daughter of a rival crime boss Luca Scarpati who wants his daughter to choose from the list of his suitable candidates the sons of the other crime families except for the Grace family. Leo and Alyson are a mafia Romeo and Juliet they're star-crossed lovers and if Alyson's father finds out about their relationship there will be war. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this intriguing story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

The King is relentless
I was looking for mafia romance books when I pre-order this book. I'm so happy I did. Mind you this is my first time reading from Hunter and they deliver hunty!! Alyson is the enemy's daughter who is to be marry off. She is beautiful, sassy, and smart. She does have her moments but at the end she get what she wants. Leo is next in line to be the head of his mafia family. He is handsome, a little indifferent, and smart. I love when he shows his vulnerable side. This story take you on a rollercoaster of mafia families with a side of romance. It was so freaking good that I did not want it to end. Now I have to get the next book! Amazing work Hunter Rose!

This is the first in a new series and is Leo and Alyson’s story, which is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet tale. Leo is the eldest brother and new don of the Grace crime family, and Alyson is the daughter if a crime boss who insists she must choose a suitable candidate for an arranged marriage. Leo and Alyson meet at a party and are instantly drawn to each other, but if her father finds out that they are seeing each other, there will be a war. This is a well written story which is filled with secrets, intrigue, family, tension, danger, suspense, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Just 2.5 stars for me
This book was one of those stories everybody seems to like but left me cold. So that is a me thing. I couldn’t get into the relationship between our two main characters. Perhaps, because they fell for each other quickly and I prefer that to happen later on in the books. I like the excitement of the chase, the back and forth. In this book, the conflict came from the outside forces, not between the couple. It’s just not my cup of tea, so I’m quite sure others will enjoy this story.
Conclusion:
Just not what I prefer in a mafia romance. Othery might enjoy this.

So good! Absolute roller coaster of a book that just never let go from start to finish. Non stop action, drama, Mafia intensity and romance.

I usually don’t read mafia romance, but I was drawn into the story in spite of that. The Hero, even though he was in a brutal business, came across as likeable. Beneath the rough exterior was a man with a soft heart for family and those close to him. The heroine was born into a lifestyle she had no control over, and basically nothing to do with. It was fun seeing them interact with each other. I don’t like to tell the story here, you can read the blurb. But my opinion is that this is a good book to get a glimpse of a life I know next to nothing about. This was Book 1, I hope it’s not too long before I can read Book 2.

5 family organizations, Big egos and always wanting MORE! What an equation for disaster. Alyson is a pawn caught in the middle with no real place to turn until her ❤️ makes the decision for her. Can a death, all out war and blackmail stay out of her life or will they all gang up and push Luca away? The organizations are all very loyal to family but does being sold to the highest bidder instill one’s loyalty or does it make survival that persons top priority? Will Luca and Alyson make it? Will the Grace family live to fight another day? I can’t wait to read the next installment.

This is the first book in the Reign of Anarchy which focuses on the forbidden romance between Leo, the new don of the Grace Mafia Family, and Alyson, the daughter of the Scarpati Family don who requires her to select a husband-to-be from his approved candidates which does not include Leo Grace. Unfortunately Leo and Alyson meet at a social event and know they are fated to be together even though it will result in a mafia war between their families if their romance is discovered. I found this book to be different from the usual mafia romance.

Relentless King. This story is interesting. There is danger, romance, a bad boy and a strong heroine, plus a fabulous hea. Leo Grace is bound to take over the family business for his father soon, He meets Allyson at a party called for by the heads of all the mafia families. But Allyson is already promised to a son of one the other mafia families except the Grace family, but of course her and Leo become attracked to each other which puts them in danger. That is until she meets Leo at the party set for her to get to know her suitors. They banter back and forth but also have chemistry. To give away spoilers he is not one of the men her father has picked for her. There is betrayal, revenge, violence, steam, anger, and love. As usually Hunter does not disappoint, it is well written and keeps you rooting for them.

Alyson and Leo meet and fall in love in (mostly) secret among plotting, murder, and mayhem. Alyson is to be choosing a husband from the list of her father’s choosing and Leo is readying to take over from his father. I really liked that she never really questions Leo and even when he for question her, he knows her enough to know the truth about her. And she doesn’t act like a damsel in distress. I wish there was more of a closure with her father.

Luca Scarpati, who is another crime boss, is making his daughter pick someone from his list for an arranged marriage. Leo is not on that list. Leo and Alyson meet at a party and fall for each other, even knowing they have no chance to be together or there will be war. I loved the chemistry they shared. Will they fight to be together? No woman has really caught his attention, until Alyson walks into his life, unfortunately for Leo, Alyson is the daughter of a rival crime family. Will they be able to make this work? Or will they be caught on opposite sites of the fight? I loved this mafia romance, I enjoyed the banter, danger and Leo's family. I couldn't help but love Alyson who is caught in the crossfire, and I loved Leo who is protective and hides his caring heart.

At a gathering of Leo talks to Alyson. What they did not expect was the instant attraction. Leo is still learning from his father and Alyson has orders from her father to pick a husband. The couple agree to meet again and passion flares. When Leo's father is killed he must put Alyson on the back burner/ Her father is forcing her to pick a husband but she stalls. This story shows love can conquer any obstacle.....

I LOVE THIS STORY! The action is continuous from start to finish. The Grace Brothers are taking on the Mafia world and they won't back down. After their fathers' murder, by their rivals, Leo, the firstborn son takes over as head of the Grace family. Leo is a calm strategist who is focused on becoming the top mafia family and inflicting justice on those responsible for his fathers' murder. Along the way, Leo meets and falls for Alyson Scarpati, the daughter of his most hated rival.
