Little Jamey, 2½ years old, is placed with experienced foster carer, Cathy Glass, as an emergency.
The police and social services have no choice but to remove two-year-old Jamey from home after his mother leaves him alone all night to go out partying.
When he first arrives with foster carer Cathy Glass, he is scared, hungry and withdrawn, craving the affection he has been denied for so long. He is small for his age and unsteady on his feet – a result of being left for long periods in his cot.
Cathy and her family find Jamey very easy to love, but as he settles in and makes progress, a new threat emerges. Coronavirus and lockdown change everything.

I’ve read several books by this author and have enjoyed them all. Cathy is a foster care giver that has taken care of tons of children over the years. This is the story of two year old Jamey who comes into her care because his mother is drug addicted and unable to care for him. Cathy does a great job of turning things around and getting him on track to start meeting the milestones for a toddler.
Yet another good book by Cathy glass telling the story of her foster child Jamey she an inspiration and an excellent foster carer love all the books as it tell the story of all the different children that have been fostered of the last 25 years
This is a touching story about fostering children, but there's too much talking about COVID-19 that took away from staying focused on the story. All in all, I still enjoyed it and would recommend reading the book.
