Speed, luxury, excellence and innovation have defined Ferrari as the world’s most revered car manufacturer for more than 70 years. In The Story of Ferrari, every key aspect of the Prancing Horse’s history is explored and showcased, from the first car built under the Ferrari name in 1947 through to the global giant and cultural force it has become today.
Delving into the design and engineering philosophies instilled by Enzo Ferrari, this book highlights the most iconic models across decades of Ferrari history, including the 125 S, F40, Testarossa and Enzo. Ferrari is also the most successful name in motorsport, with 16 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship titles to its name. The stories of its victories and adversities on the track, as well as the drivers and engineers who helped make it such a success, are covered here as well.
Filled with stunning imagery and insightful commentary, The Story of Ferrari charts the history of this legendary marque in a package worthy of the name.
As someone who loves to support Ferrari as F1 team, it's interesting to read the history of it all. The book is small, but interesting and full of information. The best thing is that it is full of history and facts, but it does not get boring and is easy to read.
A very good book for anyone who is a fan of this legendary brand and, above all, who wants to learn more about its creation, its presence in the world of motor racing and so on.
The photos in the book were definitely the highlight. The writing is ok, but it’s a quick read. If you’re a fan of F1 it will be a little more interesting as half the book talks Ferrari’s F1 history.
Quick read, only took me a few hours. The presentation is lovely from start to finish. There is heaps of interesting details in here, but i will admit i did have trouble reading this at times. There are many car code-names, dates, engines and people thrown around that just go through one ear and out the other for me and Sometimes these ramblings can seem a bit unrelated to the overall theme of the chapter. Luckily there is an index. I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as a Scuderia Ferrari fan, and i would recommend it. I do hope they do a Story Of Maserati or perhaps even Bentley.
A vivid, informative telling of this historical, iconic brand and its founder. Codling’s respect for the name can be felt all throughout the pages, and it is accompanied by beautiful photos. From Formula 1 to the road cars, I learned a lot about Ferrari’s involvement in these, and found that I enjoyed his way of storytelling with regards to little controversies and characters. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
An entertaining, high-level recap of the emotional Ferrari story. The novel captures the personality and passion of Enzo, Piero, Luca, and others as they steward Ferrari from artisanal metalworking shop to a modern luxury performance marque. Images and commentary occasionally have you jumping between pages, but this is a quick read for those wanting to learn that bit more about the brand. Great moments of managerial insight during times of difficult as well
A little tedious to read at times but it all came together and was very interesting to know the back story and all the details of how Ferrari became and stayed so iconic
