But something’s been released. And it’s not going back.
It’s nearly Halloween and the North County Paranormal crew is working overtime on a never-ending flood of fresh cases. Gabriella is finding her place in the work, embracing the weirdness and the sense of purpose it brings her.
But when the mysterious Father McEnerney arrives with a case of a cemetery Ouija board session gone wrong, the team must move carefully to investigate without alerting the higher-ups at The Foundation for Paranormal Studies. What they find is an entity capable of wreaking havoc in both the physical and the dream world, whose mission is nothing more than chaos and malicious fun.
Between this secret case and a potential new boyfriend whose only flaw seems to be that he doesn’t believe in ghosts, Gabriella’s new confidence is going to be put to the test. Will she and her teammates be able to spend the entity back where it came from? Or will they get caught in its chaotic web?
Fairview Hills Cemetery is Book 3 in the paranormal fantasy series North County Paranormal Unit!
Back with the gang! 👻🎃 I love North County Paranormal so much and this has been my favorite entry in the series so far. It is set around Halloween! If you want a cozy spooky book that also has the vibes of a “lofi for ghosts & ghouls ONLY” youtube video, you’ve come to the right place. The dynamic between the paranormal investigators is similar to your favorite sitcom and the spooks are scary enough not to be silly but still not so scary that you couldn’t read the book at night in bed.
I think I said this in my review for the first installment as well but I can’t believe this absolute gem of a series has so few reviews. Criminally underrated! I hope this series continues for a long time.
This story follows up on the emotional and physical backlash from the attempted murder in the previous book. The North County Paranormal Unit is doing an "off the books" job for Father McEnerny. It seems a teenaged boy and his friends have unleashed something by improperly using a ouija board in a cemetery the week before Halloween and the priest would like the entity contained or banished before it causes real harm, if it really exists and isn't the kids over-reacting. The story is solid, but not great. The ghost is fairly original in how its powers work and what it is able to do. The author gives a scenario where the team needs to figure out which of the cemeteries in town is the one they need to deal with, but I think the title of the book kind of gives that part away. I will admit I got a little smug about seeing that one so early on. Now, on to the next story in the series after I read a little more Wodehouse or Poe.
Well, I think I am just not a fan of Gabriella. I think I find her too annoying to like her character and I wish the series was written from the point of view of the other characters. I am still enjoying the parts of the story dealing with the team's cases and I guess I wish that aspect of the series would have stayed the main focus. I have purchased the next two books, so I'll see how it plays out and hope that either I warm up to Gabriella or that she takes a back seat :)
