Bounty hunter Katherine Carter always gets her man. Sometimes, too many of them. Her hot, Latino cop boyfriend is getting too serious too fast and she isn't sure she can trust her shady partner. Then there's the elusive escape artist she's hunting down, as well as the gorgeous glowing man who saved her from a bad scrape in Cabrini-Green. Between chasing and being chased, she's getting quite a workout.
Poisoned by a jealous woman, hexed by another, and wrongfully accused of murder, Hugh Harrison is out of luck-and time. That is, until his fellow Supers bust him out of prison. Hugh finds himself on the run from the government, a toxic ex-lover, and a beautifully distracting but lethal bounty hunter. Who will get to him first? And will he ever find his missing brother?
A note from Hugh: Supers love action, adventure, comedy, romance and plenty of cliff hangers. We've included them all in our stories, and hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
Kimberly Gordon is an author, veteran, IT professional and mother of five boys. She lives in a hundred-year-old farmhouse in rural Illinois, where she enjoys coming up with outrageous stories to tell to anyone who will listen, including her chickens, who sometimes come up with ideas for their own.
When she's not busy taking dictation for the Supers, she's also troubleshooting networks, writing, or chasing kids and farm animals. She also enjoys digital art, gardening, music and poetry.
Kat & Mouse is Book 2 in the Black Kat series by Kimberly Gordon. This is an amazing story and series. It is well written and the characters are extremely well developed and interesting. The world building is excellent and the storyline is interesting. This is a well paced, action packed, page turning adventure that will keep you glued to your seat until the end. Loved Katherine and Hugh and looking forward to Book 3 to see what Kimberly has in store for them. Received a copy from StoryOrigin and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Katherine Carter is a Super who doesn't know what she is. She was a cop in Chicago and because of her abilities, was finally terminated due to those abilities. She joins a secret government organization who uses the U.S. Marshall's service as their cover.
She and her partner Martin are sent to apprehend Hugh Harrison, an escaped prisoner accused of the murder of his brother Dale. Although Dale's body has never been found, Kat and Martin are sent to find and bring him in to their agency. There's a Ten Million Dollar bounty on him and all of the others who helped him escape from the maximum security prison he had been sent to until a new trial.
Kat uses her tracking abilities to find him.
This is the second book in the series and there is not an ending to this story. Unlucky Charm is the first book in the series and this one continues in God Save the Queen following. I am looking forward to reading it soon.
I received this book free from Story Origin in return for my reviews on same.
I don't respect books that can't be read as a stand-alone - even in a series. I know that a lot of things won't be resolved, and that's the point of a series. But major cliffhangers, just to push you to buy the next book, are annoying. I couldn't really determine what about this book, which makes it so different from other books that I didn't like. And then it hit me. These characters are written as adults; who make adult decisions and have adult common sense. A lot of books leave me annoyed with their actions and questioning what was the point of writing the book to begin with if they were going to just create their own problems with their stupid decisions. But Gordon has me believing these characters are their age! Not to say these books don't have issues. Because . And also I am so over the cat suit. It was cute the first book - but I want her to hang it up for the third book. I wouldn't say that I would recommend this series for the next book club reading. But I am enjoying these books enough to keep reading. I did buy the next in series ($3.99) ($7 Total now). But It's not like the author is writing something totally world shattering and prize-winning. It's just a fun series to read.
„Kat & Mouse“ is the second adventure in the “Black Kat Series” by Kimberly Gordon, following Katherine Carter (Kat) a female bounty hunter, with a high recovery rate.
This time Kat’s assignment is Hugh Harrison, a murder suspect, who has been framed by jealous ex, and is already on the run from almost everyone in his life, after escaping prison. Kat involvement with the case is a double inconvenience, on the one side a bounty hunter is the last he needs, on the other Kat himself is the something he wants 😊 Kat and Hugh chemistry is obvious from the very first encounter. The boundaries become increasingly blurred as both reluctantly joint efforts to search for Hugh’s missing brother.
The “Black Kat Series” takes place in a version of our own world, in which so called “supers” have superpowers that can be used for both good and evil. The alternated verse is well-constructed with appealing characters (specially Kat and Hugh 😉) and fast-paced action that evolves rapidly between events and keep the interest of the reader through the book. Beware of cliff-hangers ahead.
I love all things Urban Fantasy, especially those with humor in the mix. This is a good story that I enjoyed and would recommend to others. This story was an exciting read for me and I loved the fast pace. I am very excited to read the next book. I have to say that I do not do spoilers, that is just how I roll. I received an ARC of this book from Story Origin and I am leaving this Totally Honest Review because I choose to and I Loved this book!!! Happy Reading!!!
Kat (Katherine) loves the chase, and her job means she gets to find and hunting down people and earn good money for it. She trusts her instincts that seem to be so much better than everyone else's, probably supernaturally so. Kat has a sassy mouth that sometimes gets her into trouble (and entertained me a lot). Kat gets an intriguing case to hunt down some Supers, but is everything really as it seems? Kat I love the whole supernatural world this story sets up, and the possible romance interests, it had me turning the pages, and I certainly want to read the next book. I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.
This book is written in the world as we know it - with a few major additions. People win super powers exist, some good and some bad, called the “supers.” Our heroine Kat is a bounty hunter, who, with her partner, is searching for Hugh Harrison, a magician and an illusionist, the leader of the supers. (The blurb says it is The Fugitive with superpowers, and that's a good way to describe it!) This is the first book in a series, and ends with a cliffhanger. (There is also a prequel). The authors have created a fascinating alternate world, where you cannot be sure who has what powers or what goals. The action quickly moves from state to state, from character to character. I can’t wait to get the second book!
I was so-so with the first book in this new series. It wasn’t as good as Kat & Mouse, but I thought it had potential, so I decided to read the second to see if it got better. For about the first three-quarters of the book, it was okay. It was a quick, easy read, kept me interested but didn’t require all of my attention until the end and now I wish to read the next in the series. it’s a great read and well executed. The writing and pacing are good. The world of Black Cat drew me in at the end but there’s more than enough good stuff here to keep going. I received this book from the author via StoryOrigin as a review copy for a fair and honest review and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Can Kat Catch her mouse before it’s too late? Riveting fast paced Superhero adventure complete with super powers, Supervillains, a sassy heroine, evil humans, suspense, twists, romantic drama, and cliffhanger ending. I love the way the supernatural world is woven into normal life situations. I can’t wait to read the next book. Enjoy!
I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
Received as a review copy, this is an honest review. Katherine Carter's latest job as bounty hunter is a hell of an assignment: Hugh Harrison; and while he's been accused of murder and trying not to get put back into jail. Things just get crazy as it seems he and Katherine like each other despite being on opposite sides of the law. Mayhem ensues along with well crafted magic.
I persisted through the story hoping it would improve, unfortunately it did not. It seemed to be all over the place and did not keep me captivated at all. 😒
A good story. It shows growth from the first book. It's a basic cops and robbers story with one side having superpowers. Kat's mistreatment of Rosita/Rosie at the Christmas dinner is uncalled for. The story doesn't really come to a conclusion. It simply ends. Nonetheless, it is otherwise well written and worth reading. It leaves a lot of unfinished business for future stories.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.
Katherine Carter is a bounty hunter now. She always gets her man. She may be small but she has skills when it comes to subduing a fugitive. Hugh Harrison is on trial for murder. He has not had a good run of luck with women, Karma might really be to blame. It seems she wants him but they are not a good match. This book takes off right after book 0 and the action just continues. You will meet a lot more supers in this book and they all have a great story to tell. This one will keep you turning pages until you get to the end and then you will be looking for book 3.
After receiving this book I read it from the very beginning to the vey end and loved the whole premise of this story in my opinon. I thought the character built up was so well done and made the story so much better in my opinon. I thought the storyline was so good and was very enjpyable in my opinion. I got this book for free thru an Advanced Review Copy, ARC, with an honest revie freely given.
This is the second book in the series. Bounty hunter Katherine Carter always gets her man. Sometimes, too many of them. Her hot, Latino cop boyfriend is getting too serious too fast and she isn't sure she can trust her shady partner. Kat is a Super who doesn't know what she is she has many abilities. She uses these abilities to track and catch the ones she is after. Great story great characters and lots of action that will keep your eyes clued to the book until the end.
Thrilling and unpredictable. Very well written with no holes in the plot. And even though there are people who aren’t 100% human and have powers, it all makes sense; no naive, immature situations. The author is a Fantasy genre expert.
Second in the series. I'd read the first in the series, Unlucky Charm, before diving in or it will take you several chapters to catch up to the Supers universe. Creative, with relatable characters. I'll be reading the next book in the series.
The Supers are all scattered, and trying to run to their Safe Houses in various places. Kat is still hunting all of them, because she does not know that she is also a Super. Very thrilling and exciting!
Kat and Mouse is book 2 in the Black Cat series. This one picks up where Unlucky Charm ended. This book is full of twists, action, and adventure. Katherine, a Bounty Hunter, is in pursuit of Hugh, an escaped illusionist wanted for the murder. Will she be able to capture him and turn him in?
The characters were fun, they got into all sorts of action and adventure. It was a fun book and I definitely recommend it and I am glad it is a part of a series.
Not bad. Much longer length this time, good pacing, deeper mystery. Would be a 5 if the slight sex scenes were actually explicit but I digress. Still a good read.
