Elsie Davis is a USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR of over 25 novels. She writes sweet, clean & wholesome contemporary romance and is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writer's association. At the age of twelve, Elsie discovered the world of Happily-Ever-After romance when she began avidly reading Barbara Cartland, the Queen of Romance, and has been hooked ever since. After building her dream log home on top of a small mountain, she turned her attention to do what she loves most...writing. Three daughters, five grandchildren, and her own hero husband, keep her extremely busy. When Elsie's not glued to the keyboard, she loves boating, birding, camping, fishing, wildlife, disc golf and nature walks. Basically, all things outdoors, EXCEPT cold weather. Her and her husband love Caribbean cruises, but Elsie’s favorite vacation was their cruise to Alaska. (In spite of the cold!) Indoors, she enjoys a toasty fire, a glass of red wine, and of course, a great romance (Hallmark-Style) with a guaranteed Happily-Ever-After.
Turning Down Pie by Elsie Davis A Crestfield Inn novel book three Sometimes love needs a helping hand… She has a need for speed. He’s all about control. Will our matchmaking spirits put another win in the romance column, or have they finally met their match? This is Sally Castle and Randy Granger's story. She had come to Vermont, picking a smaller family-friendly ski resort for her first venture back on the slopes. The ride to the Bolton Valley Ski Resort was only ten minutes, but with each minute, she had started to second guess the sanity of what she was about to do. After studying the map last night to pick a suitable trail for her first time, Sally had felt somewhat better. But now, all confidence fled. Sally forced herself to move forward, one gliding step at a time as her skis slid across the packed snow. “Thanks,” the man said, getting settled into position as they lowered the bar and the lift continued up the mountainside. You headed for the Glades or Beech Seal?” he asked, his warm breath hitting the air and forming a misty cloud of condensation. “The Glade to get warmed up.” Liar. The green bunny trail was more her speed this morning. “Great, so am I. Name’s Randy Granger. I’m from Cedar Grove but only home on leave from the Army. Maybe we could ski down together. I haven’t skied in years, and this could be interesting if you’re in for a good laugh.” I recommend reading. Turning Down Pie by Elsie Davis is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Elsie Davis. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
This story is about choosing the right path for to choose when reaching a divided road. Sally is torn between what she wants to accomplish before her accident and what she never thought she wanted. Sally must get away to be able to recompose and figure out what she wants to do next. Sally went to escape to Crestfield Inn, away from her father and the media in hopes to get her groove back after her accident. Randy has a huge life changing decision ahead that will affect his future, torn between what he longs for and what he has always done. Randy is pushed to stay at the Crestview Inn where his choice is influenced. I absolutely love Chloe and her Captain as they work their magic. I loved that we not only got to see Sally fall in love but her father too. This is a great book full of sweet moments, sports and lots of drama, and some holiday magic.
I was so excited to return to the Crestfied Inn to see what the resident matchmaking ghosts, from the first and second books in the series, were up to. This book had all the oohs and aahs in the sweet romance department. It was a beautiful story of Sally, a professional skier wondering if her career was over and Randy trying to decide if he wanted to put down roots and not reenlist in the Army. I enjoyed their story that centered around love, truth, lies, and overcoming fear. I thought it was special how Apology Pie and Humble Pie were woven into the story and I really liked the ending. I am also glad the ghosts may weave their matchmaking skills on Kyle, who runs the Inn for the owner. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is another fantastic book in this series! Sally and Randy are now both staying at the Crestfield Inn but their first meeting was when he knocked her off her feet exiting the ski lift. To make her realize he is really sorry, he bakes her an Apology Pie. Because of their lodging at the Inn, our friendly matchmaking ghosts are on alert. Chloe and Captain Tremont have seen the spark between them so they need to get to work. Another wonderful Cedar Grove story with all the personable characters and small town charm. Don’t miss this one! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
This is the second book that I have read from this series and I liked catching up with past characters and meeting new ones who I felt a connection to. I felt for Sally and liked the way Randy helped her to find peace and explore who she was. I thought they were so well suited and I wanted them to get past their fears and insecurities and talk to each other, to fight for what they could and did have. I thought the story flowed well and I enjoyed the romance and fun of it. I would have LOVED for the recipes of the desserts mentioned in it to appear at the end as some of them sounded divine. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
What choice do you make when the road forks in front of you? Sally and Randy have big decisions to make about where they want their lives to go next. It’s a good thing the Crestfield Inn has a couple of experts in residence to help. I adore Chloe and her Captain, and I love every chance I get to watch then work their matchmaking magic. This time, we get even more than we bargained for. There’s lots of family drama and the magic of the holiday season makes it all sparkle just a little brighter. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
I really enjoyed this cute story about two people who want so badly to fall in love with each other but think they just shouldn’t, just can’t, not right now, there’s just too many things standing in their way, etc, etc. However, when the Good Lord, with a little help from some family and our friendly resident ghosts at Crestfield Inn help, then the magic starts to happen. The blinders are pulled off of the eyes that couldn’t see, and suddenly dreams do come true, love does find a way!! Read this beautiful book by Elsie Davis! You’ll be so glad you did! I was!
Turning Down Pie is a sweet, heartwarming, small town, Christmas romance. I love this entire series and everything Ms. Davis writes. The matchmaking ghosts of Crestfield Inn are kept busy once again as Randy and Sally meet. Randy bakes an Apology Pie and Sally bakes a Humble Pie! I devoured this story because I wanted to see how Ms. Davis managed to get these two together. This well written book implies that Kyle may finally meet his match in the next book!
This book is a wonderful addition to the Crestfield Inn series. It's a sweet heartwarming romance that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Sally and Randy's story was beautifully written and full of emotions. This book was an absolute joy to read. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A sweet love story with lots of pies. Cassie is hiding at the Crestfield Inn trying to regain her strength and decide about her future as a professional skier after her injury. Randy is back in town and deciding if he wants to re-enlist again. Can they have a future together while choosing their future? Sweet
I received this book as a advanced reader copy from Hidden Gems for an honest review.
This is a sweet clean romance with well written characters and reoccurring ones from the first book including a pair of ghosts. I really liked the romantic couple but I think the Inn might be my favorite part of it.. I'm obsessed with old houses. I plan on reading more in this series.
Received as a gift from an ARC program that i belong to, this book oozes sweetness. I may even have to check my glucose level :-) cute characters, happy ending, whats not to like about this sweet read?
