My best friend’s brother and the person who could make an Olympic sport of ignoring my relentless teasing and taunting.
I was a live-in-the-moment girl flirting with a man who always looked to the future. He was traditional, carrying the weight of his whole family on his broad shoulders, and I had been taught to never fall in love, focusing on my career instead of a future with anyone.
He tried to deny me, tried to deny the passion simmering between us, bubbling under the surface of every game we played.
But all that changed during one week in Jamaica.
Falling into bed with Jameson was easy, but falling in love was out of the question.
Fiona Cole is a military wife and a stay at home mom with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. As much as she loved science she decided to postpone her career to stay at home with her two little girls and immersed herself in the world of books until finally deciding to write her own.
The book is so f*cked-up, but I liked it . The heroine is a mess, but I liked her! I'm blown away... I picked it up because of the bad reviews, yeah, a bit strange, but I needed a strong woman. After reading a lot of books with angelic-looking forgiving virginal heroines, I needed a badass b*tch. And I got her. *hurrah* I loved and hated the book. I wanted to quit at least 4 times, I wanted to throw my e-reader against the wall, but it kinda expensive and I'm kinda obsessed with my baby... *lol* I wasn't amused with the H at the beginning. I thought I got a weak pseudo alfa, but as they finally got together - holy moly, sign me in!!! The man had a heart and a patience worth admiring. And a dirty mouth, it's kinda hot, you know?.. *i need a cold shower* I won't retell the story, there are other fabulous reviews. And I won't complain too much. I didn't like and understand everything the h performed, but I won't judge her. And I definitely didn't dislike her mother! There were many points the woman was right - IMO. I've satisfied my hunger for a badass heroine, at least for today... Safety note ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Deny Me was a fun and sexy as heck story with fabulous characters. Jameson was definitely my favorite. He wooed me from the moment I laid eyes on him. He's a strong man who loves his sister Luella with all his heart. Evelyn and Luella are best friends and Evelyn has a wonderful and teasing friendship with Jameson. He's interested in a serious relationship whereas Evelyn is not. So they tease each other as much they can and it definitely has sexual undertones. Yummy. Damn damn damn. Their chemistry was hot! I really enjoyed when Evelyn didn't think and just enjoyed Jameson and how he wined and dined her cause that was when the magic really happened. Of course Evelyn had to get second thoughts about their relationship towards the end and I was not a happy camper.
Fiona Cole blew me away with Shame Me Not and of course I had to read her other work. Deny My was fabulous and I enjoyed the characters and their friendship tremendously. Let's not forget about Shane and Julianna. I look forward to reading their story.
Don’t you just love it when you go into a specific read where you’re totally ready because you THINK you know everything you’re going to get out of it and it happens to be SO MUCH MORE than you were expecting?
Yeah that’s this read. And I wasn’t ready. I’m STILL reeling over how connected I felt to these characters.
This is the kind of HOT AS SIN light hearted read that stirs something way deep down inside you. The connection these characters have between one another coupled with how well they can just BE without even trying is mind blowing.
The passion, the steaminess, the struggle, and most importantly the love that bleeds off the pages of Deny Me makes it the phenomenal book that it is and will always be.
3.5/5 Stars I have mixed feelings about Deny Me. While I loved the story itself, a best friend’s brother romance, I just couldn’t connect with either main character. Evelyn has had a crush on her best friend’s brother since they first met. Evelyn has sort of been adopted by Lu and her brother, Jameson. For years, she has been flirting with him shamelessly, but he would never bite. Evelyn has negative views on love and doesn’t want a relationship. He just sleeps with men for the necessity of sex and nothing more. Jameson used to be that way, but has begun to see things differently and wants to settle down. Oh, Evelyn. How many times did I want to smack you upside the head and tell you that you can still be independent and fall in love? Too many times to count. Truthfully, I thought Evelyn was a bit whiny and hard to take. Even when things were starting to progress with Jameson, she still couldn’t get out of her own head long enough to see what was in front of her. Then there was Jameson. He was completely inflexible in his own way. He wanted more with Evelyn, but couldn’t just open his eyes to the fact that she was struggling. Like I said, the plot was good. I liked the reverse roles of Evelyn and Jameson. I just never connected with the characters and found myself more than frustrated at times. That being said, the writing was good, the plot was good and the sexy times were hot!
Evie is a free spirit and never without a man in her bed, but the one that she really wants scares the hell out of her. Jameson made my heart skip a beat in every scene he's in, the seemingly untouchable rock that always had his eye on one untamed woman. The sexual tension between him and Evie will leave you panting. As free as Evie claims to be, she's scared. She frustrates you, but you understand her at the same time. And the way Jameson fights for her, you can't help but fall head over heels for him right along with Evie. Through an erotic romance, Fiona Cole gave us a beautiful love story.
I liked this... I really did. However, it pissed me off at the same time.
What I liked (after the initial few chapters where the two MCs weird relationship of sexual teasing seemed so stupid, making me dislike both of them. Seriously, I understand why so many reviewers stopped reading so early on in the book.) was the friends-to-lovers relationship they developed slowly. The heat? Off the charts. Dirty-talking Jameson was definitely a favorite of mine.
I did NOT love the twisted view Evelyn's mother instilled in her. I get a mom wanting what's best for her daughter. And I have been known to tell my own daughters to be self reliant and to never, ever depend on a man to take care of them financially. However, a mother who tells her daughter that love isn't worth it and to deny it at all costs is a bitch of a mother. Basically she guilts her daughter into isolating herself, pushing away her friends. Holy hell, I was so pissed. That mom can suck it. What twenty-nine year old allows her mom to have that much control anyway? It took away all Evelyn's badass-ness she had accumulated the entire book. Ruined an otherwise great story.
The rushed ending was a letdown as well.
The sweetness of Jameson and the heat he brought were the only things that saved this for me.
I quit this book right after their trip to Jamaica. I never liked the female lead. She was abrasive and vain. Her thinking was so illogical. I honestly have no idea why the male lead liked her at all. I choose not to spend time with people like that in reality, so why would I want them in my head?
Jameson King is definitely the ultimate book boyfriend!!
Evelyn Valero is a very independent woman. She was raised to believe that nothing should come between her and her career. She is happy with one night stands. She has no use for a relationship outside of her mother and her "family". Her "family" is her best friend Luella, her husband Jack, and Lu's brother Jameson. You first meet Lu in Where You Can Find Me. I would definitely read it too although this is a standalone.
Evie and Jameson have always had this sort of teasing war going on. It is so sexy, cute, and fun!! Until Jamaica. Jamaica changes everything. Jameson is not a one night only type of guy. He totally stole my heart! Can Evie change her lifestyle or will she leave Jamaica in the past? You'll have to read it to find out!!
Fiona Cole is definitely an automatic one click for me. She knows how to make the pages sizzle! Her writing is flawless and you will be hooked!! A Must Read!!
I loved this book! I finished reading Defy Me in one day. This book had everything I enjoy in a good romance!
Jameson and Evie are my new favorite couple and am crushing on both of them. I loved Evelyn’s strong ambitious character. I love when the female protagonist is courageous and goes after what she wants. Evelyn is THAT woman. She knows what she wants and doesn’t give a damn about what others think. Jameson on the other hand is the polar opposite of Evie. He is a stand up guy and is sexy as hell. When they get together, its one hot as sin romance and Cole, gets them together in the perfect setting: Jamaica!
I loved Defy me for the writing. Fiona Cole’s writing had me on the edge of my seat. It made me giddy and happy! I enjoyed reading every bit of this book. My only problem is that I wanted more from the book. I wanted an Epilogue about their future and are they getting married anytime soon or what?! Its safe to say I was pretty invested in the story! ;)
I literally cried when this series was over. There is one more book after this one but I have read it. I loved every character in these stand alone but related books. Jameson and Evie stole my heart. He was the man she didn't know she needed and found out together did not equal weakness. I highly recommend this book.
Evie was raised by a mom who was devastated when her husband died a few years into marriage; she became angry and taught Evie never to love, never to have /depend on relationships. Evie used this as her guide through life and used men. She had a flirty relationship with her bff brother, Jameson, but never did anything until they went to Jamaica for said bff wedding. The push and pull was fantastic...then the mom got involved and things went off the rails. Evie hurt Jameson then was miserable. Got my HEA in the end but not before I was a bawling mess :)) Great book!
Book had a great flow from beginning to end. Kept my attention, which is hard to do. Love the history between the main characters and how it added to the relationship...would highly recommend it ❤
This book was messed up in way but a good way. Evelyn is so messed up with her views on love and she feels she doesn't need a man but for one thing. She has always flirted and tried to seduced her best friend brother. She would love just to have him for one night but after a heated moment in a store room closet and never getting the whole package she is determine to keep at it until he gives in. When her best friend has a destination wedding can these two finally come together and if they do can Evelyn keep herself from feeling more?
I really would to loved to had more of this story, I felt the end was rushed. With that being said it doesn't take from the story it just I think readers would have liked if it had some more with it. The characters are fun loving and the storyline is great and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see love happen when they least expect it.
Fiona Cole is such an amazing author and totally hit it out of the park with her debut novel Where you can find me. This new novel was no different. She can make a story jump off the page and come alive as you read.
Let me start by saying that Jameson is swoon worthy. The first scenes of him and Evelyn together in the bar set the stage for the heat they share. This is a best friends brother story that does not disappoint.
The typical roles of men wanting only 1 night stands are completely reversed in Deny Me. Fiona has Evelyn living the life of the 1 night stands and Jameson wanting the relationship. They continual flirt and play cat and mouse. Push comes to shove in their trip to Jamaica and you do not want to miss it!
This is a quick erotic romance that you must one-click! 4 wonderful sexy stars!
One of my favorite books to read is best friends brother, so when I heard about this book I had to read it. This is my first book by this author and I wasn't disappointed at all. She had me hooked from the beginning until the end. I couldn't put it down, I had to keep reading, I needed more and more of these characters. When I did finish I didn't want it to be over. This author had me so hooked that I kept trying to swipe for a new page even though I knew that was the end. I laughed through this whole book and did get a little frustrated with Evie and Jameson. Jameson is absolutely amazing. All of the characters in this book was so fun. This is a must read book and will be on my favorites list at the end of this year. I can't wait to check out this authors other books.
Moreeeeee! I need more! The ending was too short. It's was like a tease bam, happily ever after. Still a excellent story about friends to lovers. Jameson and Evelyn are the perfect match even when they don't realize it, it is plan to see to everyone. Their playful banner makes this an interesting novel that isn't the least bit boring on any chapter. His sister Lu gets in on the picking on him and makes it even more hilarious. It's easy to relate to when Evelyn gets scared about how close they are because everyone has those relationship doubts but Jameson is a tough cookie that stays super strong. Love this book.
I absolutely loved Jameson and Evelyn's story! They obviously were attracted to each other and I loved their banter back and forth. You knew they would eventually get together, and when they did.....wow! They were on fire when they hooked up!! And I wasn't surprised how quickly they fell into a relationship. They had known each other for years, so they had already gotten past the get to know you stage. They truly were perfect for one another....and I can't wait to see them again in Shane & Juliana's story!!
What a fabulous forbiiden love book. I found the story line so easy to follow and I didn't want to put this down once I started. Truly a great premise of the one you shouldn't fall for.
Evelyn's character was a feisty sex deviant who knew how to flirt with men. Evelyn spent ten years teasing and taunting Jameson with her sex appeal. She was taught to never fall in love that women don't need love. Evelyn focused on her career instead. Evelyn was an independent career driven woman who could have any man she wanted at anytime. Of course, those men were disposable. Evelyn needed a bold and aggressive man to gain her attention. Evelyn's character was interested in a fun and carefree sex life with no commitments. Evelyn regarded love as a means of being tied down and dependent upon a man.
Jameson and Evelyn had a sexual attraction towards one another. They spent ten years flirting, taunting, and teasing each other. But Jameson grew tired of Evelyn's carefree tactics. Jameson was a forever kind of guy looking to settle down. While in Jamaica they played a new game. A game that would challenge the fears that held Evelyn from loving a man.
I found the banter fun in the beginning but I too grew tired of Evelyn's behavior. Then I had a change of heart once Evelyn and Jameson were in Jamaica. This was the turning point in their friendship. This was what I needed to connect with the characters. From this point on the story was extremely sexual. The main characters showed growth by opening up about their past. Those were my favorite moments when the characters took the time to share past memories and explore each other on a deeper level. The sex scenes were great but I already knew they would be compatible. The story had some great moments and some not so great moments. Evelyn's character was almost too independent of a character and her fears of love was frustrating. Overall, the story was good.
Earlier in the year I was offered the opportunity to read and review Shame Me Not by Fiona Cole. She was a new to me author, and I feel absolutely in love with her writing and story telling abilities. I knew that she was an author going places, and I wanted to be a part of it. When I found out that she was releasing a new book called Imagine Me that was interconnected with her previous release Deny Me, I jumped at the chance to read and review them both!
Deny Me is told from Evie’s point of view. Evie was raised by a single mother, whose own view on love was destroyed when Evie’s father passed away and left her as a young widow. Because of her skewed views on love, she taught Evie’s to be a young and independent woman who should never let love or a man hold her back. Evie’s stuck hard to those values for years, but then a wild week in Jamaica with her best friends brother left her questioning everything she had ever believed.
Like before, I quickly found myself falling under the spell of Cole’s writing Her character development is so well done, and she weaves the story in such a way, the reader cannot help but feel completely immersed in the story. Plus, Cole’s romantic scenes are some of the hottest I have ever read. At one point, I was reading this at my daughter’s gymnastics practice and I was praying none of the other parents were reading over my shoulder because boy oh boy was the scene intense!
The only thing I struggled with during Deny Me was the character of Evie. For me, she just wasn’t a likable person, and I had a really hard time connecting with her character. She frustrated me with her views on love, and at times I found her to be very narrow minded. I was really frustrated by the way she handled a lot of the situation and wanted to reach into the book and shake her really hard. But in the end, everything came together and I loved how it was all wrapped up!
