Return to the post-Apocalyptic future world where the super villains won — along with Steven S. DeKnight, season one showrunner of Marvel’s Daredevil, and writers both new and familiar to the Wastelands! Taking its cue from the breakout podcast series inspired by the original OLD MAN LOGAN saga, and featuring grizzled and embittered versions of Wolverine, Hawkeye, Star-Lord, Black Widow and other familiar figures, get ready for shocking new dystopian stories set in one of the Marvel Universe’s darkest possible futures!
COLLECTING: Wastelanders: Old Man Logan (2021) 1, Wastelanders: Old Man Hawkeye (2021) 1, Wastelanders: Old Woman Widow (2021) 1, Wastelanders: Old Man Quill (2021) 1, Wastelanders: Old Man Doom (2021) 1
Doesn't 100% jibe with the Podcasts I've listened to but that's OK, with Steven "Spartacus" DeKnight on the writing the stories are bleak but still compelling and the washed out colour palettes used for a lot of the art helped sell the dystopian setting. My personal favourite was the Doctor Doom story but there wasn't too much of a weak link among them.
Desde que vi o anúncio dessas revistas one-shot que se passam no Universo Alternativo da série O Velho Logan, já sabia que não poderia vir coisa boa dele. A massaveice e a grimandgrittyce dessa realidade é gritante.
A very quick read set in the "Wasteland" time period of Marvel. 5 Short stories.
Wolverine - Post-Old Man Logan, he is carrying around Bruce, his adoptive son. When Banner shows up in Adamantium Armor decidedly NOT dead, Logan has to defeat him again.
Hawkeye - Sent on a mission to prove his abilities, Daredevil ("Stick" in this universe) sends him to deliver a package to a Hand stronghold... because he still loves Elektra.
Star-Lord - Peter visits the remains of the X-Mansion, missing Kitty Pryde. Shadow King, inhabiting Cerebro, attempts to overwhelm him.
Doom - As Doom continues to take over more of the Wastelands, he must investigate a town that has way too much magical influence.
Black Widow - Yelena wants her lover Elias back, so she must infiltrate and go up against the Lizard!
Overall, an alright read. Nothing crazy good, though I think I enjoyed the Old Man Star-Lord one the best. Read or skip. Up to you.
I genuinely enjoyed each story in this collection. Old, weathered superheroes living in the wastelands. What not to like? The wastelands changes you and even superheroes alike. You follow the journey of daddy Wolverine taking care of baby hulk. Yelena abandoning her moral compass to survive and perform one last mission. Blind Hawkeye training with the Stick to gain a different kind of sight still holding onto a thread of optimism. You also follow the story of Star lord suffering from grief unable to discern between the real and the imaginary. Aside from the heroes, you get to see the side that has won with the perspective of Doctor Doom who is seeking revenge. But each one-shot left me wanting way more than I got. So despite how promising, I can’t give it more than 3 stars. I haven’t listened to the podcast yet which will be my next step.
This is an uneven group of collected issues. None were bad, per se, but most left something to be desired. The Black Widow story ended when I felt it was just getting started. The standout for me was Doctor Doom's story, and he was as hard as ever. There is just something about his limitless arrogance and confidence that makes him such an enjoyable character to read.
All in all, if you've read other books in this arc then it's an easy choice to pick up. There's enough fun, story, big ol' Lizards, and new characters to make it worth your time.
An interesting concept. What if the bad guys did an 'Acts of Vengeance' (old school villain swap with MU heroes) and got Logan to kill a majority of the good guys. The world crumbles, and this is a look at the aftermath.
I liked them better as podcasts. They felt richer and more full bodied. These were a nice little peak into the universe.
These 5 stories are set in the Old Man Logan alternate future of Marvel comics, and they’re all decent one-shots each focusing on a different character. Nice little character pieces for Wolverine, Hawkeye, Dr. Doom, Black Widow and Star-Lord. Nothing earthshaking, but solid.
