Huncho is currently behind bars and prepared to serve a 30 year prison for a crime he DID commit. When the opportunity is presented to him to have a second chance at life he’s skeptical but ultimately decides to put his faith on the line. The decision proves to be one of the best he’s ever made.
DaLyse is also after second chances. She is currently working as an ER trauma nurse and pretty much going through the motions after heartbreak seems to overwhelm her.
After Lyse and Huncho cross paths, they are both looking to fill a void without getting in too deep. Protecting their hearts is first and foremost but when they decide to bet it all on each other, beauty was definitely on the other side of that fear.
I’m treading lightly with my feedback on this book because at the core, it really was a beautiful story. However, it’s APs older work and it shows with the structure of the story and how it was written. The flashback scenes weren’t clear so it took until pretty much the end of the story to realize that’s what they were. I also felt that the flow of the story was slightly off pace and could have used more dialogue and communication between the main characters.
Had I read this when it was first released my rating would probably be higher but because my expectations are what they are, then a 3/3.5 ⭐️’s is all I’ve got.

You have done it again AP! Ganton Hills is always lit, but this one right here, has brought it to another level! DaLyse and Huncho have just moved up to the top of my favorite couple list in Ganton Hills! They both were hysterical with the insults flying back and forth, but you knew that there was pain underneath those smiles! There was such a strong connection between them, beyond the sizzling chemistry that could not be ignored! The way that just being in the other’s presence helped them heal, and be pulled out of the darkness was absolutely beautiful! For Huncho to be such a rough, street dude, he was also deep thinking and spiritual! ❤️ I loved the story behind the name leather and wood! Sooo….. why is Waters still walking around starting ish? He needs to get gone AP! 😂 Great job! 👍👍👍

My new affirmation
Lyse and Huncho just might me be favorite couple from The Hills thus far. Their connection was so heartfelt and deep. Loss can really put us in such a place of fear that we will risk missing out on a good thing because we fear of what will happen allowing ourselves to enjoy the goodness that has entered our lives . Huncho moved past his fear and pushed Lyse to move past her fear and realize how strong and durable she is to withstand all that may come her way. Listen I don’t know what’s going on with ya boy Waters, but I’m ready for him to catch all L’s . If anyone knows of a great realtor in GH let me know! 😀

Well, well, well. If you didn’t believe in love at first sight, reading Leather and Wood: A Ganton Hills Novella will surely change your mind because a man that recites affirmations to me when I’m going though it is the man for me. 🥹🫶🏽

I enjoyed DaLyse & Lennox's story...they met by happenstance and didn't realize how closely tied they were. This one was really different in that, yes...Lennox was gang affiliated but he was also at a point where he wanted more out of life. Going to church wasn't on his radar but when he finally went back all the answers fell into place. It not only happened for him, but for DaLyse as well.
Now I don't wanna spoil it for everyone else...this was a good story that doesn't completely go in a straight path. If you are into stories that aren't the normal cookie cutter relationship trope, this is a good one.

Strong, flexible, and durable
Huncho was unfiltered, nasty, and unapologetic about it. He was who who he was. Cracked me up the way he just said what he was thinking. Never would know what he was feeling, holding onto, and hiding inside. He’d been through it but was making the most of the time he had left.
She went through some stuff too and was barely keeping her emotions behind it all in check. Hard having it flaunted in your face every day tho. Somehow she held onto her faith and she had a good heart.
They both deserved a chance at happiness and God was giving it to them. They needed to get out their own way. Besides they were both strong, flexible and durable - they’re both deserving of love.
Btw - Waters days need to be numbered! Somebody need to deal with him. Walking around unchecked.

A phenomenal read from top to bottom the love and chemistry between these characters felt so vibrant. DaLyse was such a relatable character I see myself and many women in her shoes avoiding love ignoring your feelings because your biggest fear is heartbreak and knowing your worth. She found true love in Lennox he is an amazing man 🥰!! High on my book Bae list, I’m so glad he got the love he deserved. The plot of this story hit me like a ton of bricks once the pieces started to fall. This is a 5 star read !! 💕 I highly recommend it to all my Urban Junkies.

Lysi and Huncho aka Ocho is my favorite couple right now in the hills. His smart mouth and her smart mouth is so me dfl. Their souls knew each other before they could even realize it. The connection was so authentic and deep. Feeling like you can never win and mixing it with grief can truly have you living in fear. Once Ocho was able to truly bare his wounds and soul and Lysi did the same, their love bloomed. I’m a sucker for a happy ending. So I loved seeing them both rebirth the family they once lost. Why is Waters still in the picture chilllllllleeeeee? The Hills needs one of them Harlem Nights ladies… “ I have got a girl whose Pu🐈⬛🐈⬛y is so good, if threw it in the air, it would turn into sunshine.”

The Ganton Hills series was one of my best finds this year!!! I stumbled upon @aubreepynn and binged most of her catalog.
I don't typically do Urban romance, but Aubree Pynn doesn't write typical Urban romance... Her characters are nuanced, well developed and intelligently written.
Huncho and DayLyse did not disappoint. Their smart mouths and sexy connection was everything. They are my latest and greatest of this series. Don't visit Ganton Hills then!!! 😏😏😏 You missing out.

Slipped back into The Hills for a day to knockout this novella. This was good, definitely instalove which I don’t really like but it didn’t bother me too bad. I think I didn’t mind it because of Huncho and DaLyse’s connection via Angel. That felt almost written in the stars, like Angel passed on permission through her spirit. Then altar ends up being granny’s nurse too? They just needed to find each other and catch up to the universe. All of that was really interesting to me! I loved the meaning behind Leather & Wood, loved the affirmations. A good little quick read while I had dinner!

I had no idea how this series would have grown and each book provides dimensionality to this place called Ganton Hills. Of course I want to know more about dirty cop Detective Waters so I will wait patiently to see what's on the horizon. By the way I love Dalyse and Lennox! Beautiful
This book was amazing. Huncho is on my favourite list without a doubt. They way he helped to put her back together and used affirmations with Lysi was just so beautiful. This book also shed like of how important not blaming yourself for things that you cannot control and also how it can make it so difficult for you when you don’t let go. This was a wonderful breath of fresh air. Kudos Aubree you’ve done it again.

DaLyse and Lennox (Honcho)
Honcho was so mean and rude, but he met the right person. DaLyse definitely matched his energy. I love their connection with each other. It felt like more than chemistry, but spirituality connected/soulmate type of connection. He played no games and I loved how he was emotionally in tune with his feelings and didn’t run from it. I wish I had more and could definitely read more of their story. Good read

I love all these men down. It’s starting to sound like I need me a one way ticket to GH. Lennox and DaLyse’s relationship had to be my favorite so far. Both of their traumas brought them together as if it was kismet Each of them had what the other needed to heal.
Out of the whole story I really enjoyed the matriarchs in this story they didn’t hold nothing back! And told it like it was.

Beautifully divined second chance
Huncho and Lyse gave me everything I wanted and even what I didn’t know I needed. Aside from the sizzling chemistry, you felt the pain and need for the healing that only these two could give each other. It was beautiful to see these two come together and love the hurt away. Definitely one of my GH faves!

Huncho and DaLyse experienced so much before meeting and healed each other. I loved this book and I want more. The main characters in the Ganton Hills series are so dope and the love they have for each other can be felt just from reading. I can’t wait to see if there will be more to come in this series.

The story stirred something in my soul. I loved that Lennox and DaLyse's past mirrored one another. The attraction was there from the beginning and it couldn't be denied.

I didn’t know this was part of a series! However, I feel like it can be a standalone. The story did not disappoint. Lyse & Huncho were destined to be lovers.
