After my ex-wife betrayed me, I swore to never marry again. Until I have to enter an arranged marriage to save one of my best friend’s girl and form an alliance with the Cuban Cartel. Eva, my wife-to-be, is young, beautiful and everything I don’t want and deserve. I plan to keep our marriage strictly on paper and to never consummate our union. I don’t give a shit if that hurt her sensitive feelings. But I underestimate the determination of my little wife to win my cold heart. I will have to hurt her to keep her away. I will be the cold-blooded bastard everybody accuses me to be. She should have never tried to get what I am not willing to give. I would have left her in peace and we both could have lived our life. Now she will suffer the consequences for her foolishness.
I always dreamed to marry for love. But that’s not how things are done in my world. I knew as a Cartel princess my marriage would be arranged by my father. Now my time has come. I am to marry the Boss of the Boston Bratva. Yuri is cold and cruel. They say he once ate the heart of a man he killed. Now I am calling this monster my husband. Still, I am determined to win his heart and have the marriage I always dreamed of. I wasn’t prepared for the world of hurt, my foolishness would put me in.
Trigger warning
Dark Contract is a Dark Romance and includes triggers such as arranged marriage, cheating, dubious consent, a cold/aggressive hero, age gap, language, violence and rough explicit scenes. If such material offends you, this book is not for you.
Style: Dark Mafia Romance (Age Gap) Story: 3/5 Enjoyment: 4/5 Dark Level: 1/5 Sexual Level: GOOD Triggers: Yes Violence: Yes Male: Intense & Grumpy Series: Book 2 Pages: loc. 1883 Audio: N/A Kindle Unlimited: No
STORY: This story will definitely not be for everyone. This story will come down to what the reader will tolerate in the story.
The first 50% of the book, Yuri treats Eva like crap, you name it he did it even cheated countless times. Yuri was in serious denial and trying so hard to only honor the marriage contract in name only and keep Eva at arms length by any means necessary. I am not sure how a lot of people will receive Eva. She means well, but she is so eager to please Yuri, even when he is mean to her. I also take into account that she is a cartel princess, sheltered all her life and she is only 20 years old and very naive. The remaining 50% gave us interesting characters and brought a little action and torture to the story. When Yuri came to his senses regarding his emotions for his wife, it’s all good, however, I wish Eva let him work for it a little bit more for all he did and put her through; he got off too easy with her. With that being said, I still liked this story and read it in one sitting.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY: Sex scenes were good. I would have loved a bit more but this was a quickie read. Their ending scene was good.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: I love that we saw a lot of Daisy and Vadim from book 1 in this story and it was good seeing them. The character that added a bit of spice was Cormac. I am ready to read his and Arabella’s story.
OVERALL: Very likable read for me. Won’t be for everyone as it depends how you like your main male and female characters.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
This was the saddest virgin doormat h I have ever read. The H Shows up late to wedding Runs out the door as soon as I dos are said Doesn’t show up to reception of 300 Doesn’t spend wedding night with bride says the fck you doing too much When she makes dinner he says the fck you doing Then goes to bdsm and fcks all night Won’t allow her in the living room Tells her repeatedly he doesn’t want her Finally has sex with wife At bdsm club makes Eva watch him get bj and fcks ow This Upsets his wife she runs and gets kidnapped NOW HES SORRY????? What a douche
This guy is a real winner with a charming personality. The h immediately just forgives him because he gets kidnapped too. This is one of the most ludicrous H’s I’ve read. Absolutely no relationship building . This is a BDSM wannabe . There’s more relationship building between Cormac the kidnapper and Eva than on Yuri and Eva…imo this is a sad excuse for a story and I’m sorry I absolutely wasted 3 bucks! And guess what I don’t even care if I spoil it because I feel good about saving others from wasting 3 bucks.
It's really unfair that the H felt the need to cheat on h (his wife) just because his ex-wife aka "ex-love of his life" cheated on him 🙄. And he feels bad after taking her to a BDSM club and making her watch him fuck a whore 🤢! Hmmm... Hurting her was the whole point, right? Then why should he feel bad?!? Cheating pig 😠! Like H went from 0 to 1,000 with no believable explanation. There was no interaction between them to explain why he fell for her or why she fell for him.
All I got was she made his dick hard and somehow that equated to love so he decided to bang a fuck ton of women AND cap it off by forcing the h watch it…cuz he was too alpha to love her. Then she’s kidnapped. They say their ILYs. The end.

This is the story of Yuri (the Pakhan) and Eva (Cuban mafia princess). Yuri and Eva end up in an arranged marriage. Youri is only looking at this as a business transaction. Yuri is almost 40 years old and has been betrayed by his ex wife – he has sworn off ever “feeling” again and becoming weak because of some woman. He is arrogant, dark and twisted. Eva is 19 years old, innocent, naïve, and wanted to marry for love, but knowing that was not meant to be was going to make the best of the situation.
I have to say that I do not like Yuri very much. Almost twice his brides age, he is acting like a child – showing up drink to the wedding and then not even going to the reception; ignoring her completely and saying, mean hateful things to her. I have to commend Eva as she really did try to make the best of the situation and with the help of Daisy and Ana, did her best to get Yuri to come around.
Suspense, twists and turns, denial, surprises and some steamy scenes might just wake Yuri up before he loses the one things he can’t afford to lose! Great story! I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and cannot wait for it to come out!

Advanced reader copy received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
I am fairly new to this author and really love her work ! This book is a mafia setting one of my favorite genres.
Dark Contract is Book 2 in the Boston Bratva Doms series but can be read as a standalone.
What I loved :

Yuri never wanted to marry again but ends up in an arranged marriage to save another. He plans for this to be a business deal only but Eva wants to have a real marriage. Who will win? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters with lots of emotion, action and twists and turns. Intense with lots of sizzling scenes. I loved it!
I wanted to like this book. I really did. The plot is a basic and somewhat overused one: dark mafia hero who marries an innocent sheltered mafia princess for political reasons and against his will Falls in love with his unwilling wife. Despite this I still had high hopes. I like seeing hard damaged alpha men find love and redemption. Unfortunately this book was a severe disappointment. To begin with there were so many editing errors it was literally confusing in many places. Even chapters identified the wrong name for the POV. (This happened the most where the chapter or section would list the POV as Vadim when it clearly was Yuri’s.) The editing got sloppier the farther into the book I got.
The Bratva members were supposed to be hard core criminals in their late thirties but they all talked and acted like teenagers. Vadim’s girlfriend was supposedly a very young, sweet girl yet she yelled and berated Yuri, the Bratva boss, like she was his equal. Except for being “punished” once nothing ever happened to her. She also spoke and acted like a fourteen year old. In no way were any of them the least bit believable.
The book came across like it was written by a very young person who has read Bratva and BDSM romance novels but doesn’t really know anything much about the lifestyle or workings of either. The BDSM parts were so inaccurate and simplified it made me cringe.
The actual writing itself was stiff and forced. It wasn’t until I went to write this review that I read something that makes me suspect English isn’t the author’s first language or this might even be an English translation of a book written in another language. If either of these are true it would explain the sub-par writing.
I normally wouldn’t write such a negative review. I know authors work hard to write their books and when I read a book this poorly written I file it on my Kindle as such and make a note to not read anything else by the writer. I don’t go and post a review about it at all. Unfortunately since I got this one as an ARC I didn’t have the choice to not post something. I am committed to writing one. I hate hurting the authors feelings, though. I think she tried really hard to write a good book. Sadly she failed in her effort. I can’t recommend this book and will probably never read anything by her ever again.

I got the vibe that the author didn't speak English as a primary language. That does not bother me (let's face it - I will never be able to write a book in a secondary language, so I think that's impressive), but there were definitely a few issues. Also, the author put another male character's name at the start of a few chapters towards the end when the POV was actually the H.
A few spoilers after this point. . . . . . I typically am a bit more forgiving of cheating when there's an arranged marriage situation. I did feel bad for the h because she wanted to be whatever the H needed, including a sexual partner, but he was very clear he would be seeking that elsewhere. I could also forgive him being mean to push her away, but there had to be some sort of grovel from the H. She gets a mere apology under duress and immediately forgives him. She repeatedly got bad advice from two other women who supposedly cared about her. They told her he just liked her too much and she needed to try harder. So the poor girl does and falls flat on her face every single time. Girl, you need better friends.
What is not forgivable, however, is taking your wife to your BDSM club with the intention of forcing her to watch you perform a scene with your sub/OW. A scene that includes oral and PIV sex, while she's sobbing on the couch. No protection used with OW, which makes me doubt he was using it with anyone else at the club. He certainly didn't use protection when he had sex with the h. There was no mention of him getting tested before having sex with his wife. That's just gross. I'm also turned all the way off when he calls the OW "pet" and then later calls his wife "pet" when they have their own play scene at the end of the book. I guess I'm just not into calling h the same pet name that the H called the OW while he forced the h to watch him cheat on her.
What a brilliant read The one thing Yuri had said to himself was that he would never get married again. His ex wife had really done a number on him and he wasn’t going to let anyone ever get that close to him again. But to save his best friend and his girlfriend from the Cuban cartel that was a one thing he had to do. He promised himself he would show her no affection it would be in name only. But that was going to be easier said than done when he came face-to-face with his bride she was stunning. Eva Hated that she was being forced into this marriage. She wanted a real marriage full of love and children but she knew Yuri was a cold and cruel man. He was the head of the Boston Bratva. Thankfully she came friends with Daisy who came up with a plan to get her husband to see her for the young beautiful woman she was. But could she put up with the hurtful and evil things that he said and did to keep her away. This is a brilliant read I was so lost to these characters. My heart broke for Eva she did nothing wrong in this scenario. She is one of the strongest women I read about in these books. And boy did I really hate Yuri. I understood where he was coming but some of the things that he did would just despicable. This is one exceptionally brilliant read that you will get totally hooked on and will have to read this in one sitting so be prepared to have a nice cup of tea and a snack beside you.

Betrayal is something that doesn’t go away in fact it leaves such a lasting impression that it leaves on you making it hard to connect or open yourself up for any more hurt that is the start of our story. Yuri sexy as all get out Pakhan finds himself in an arranged marriage deal (again) to save a young woman at the request of his best friend to marry is little sister to save her. Eva is young (age gap), a Cuban Cartel Princess, expected to be set up in an arranged marriage groomed for it all her life but she never expected to marry the Bratva Pakhan who is coldhearted (or so she thought) and distant with everyone. Eva like most women want to marry for love but will that be a case with her husband or soon to be husband will it be possible. Yuri promised himself he wouldn’t marry again after the betrayal of his ex-wife and yet here he is doing just that but he refuse to give in to love or the distraction that Ms. Eva may be so showing up drunk to the wedding, by passing the reception and basically ignoring her all together but will he wake up to what’s right in front of him, will he give Eva a chance, will he give his heart another chance especially when he is so attracted to his beautiful wife and can he find happiness the second time around?

Short and dark, an entertaining story of extremes. While I found it entertaining to read, I ran into a few issues. The writing style was a bit stiff, came across as untrained.I didnt find everything clear, but that could also be because I didnt read the previous book. But what bothered me the most was the main characters. The story is too short to get sympathy for the main characters. Yuri is, as the blurb implies, a heartless bastard with cruel behavior that has little to do with BDSM. I found his behavior downright childish, not a nice quality for a bratva boss. I found his change from unscrupulously cruel man to repentant husband very abrupt Eva brought out my feminist side. Very admirable that she wants to fight for love, but I didn;t like the way she accepted all his behavior. There’s a whole lot of sobbing in this story The secondary characters were nice., especially Arabella, and even though these main characters annoyed me, I still enjoyed reading it, 3.5 stars

Verified ARC Reader Eva wins in the end! by sewsummore
Yuri Petrov had never intended to marry again after his disastrous first marriage, but it was part of his agreement with the Cuban Cartel. Eva knew she would never have any choice when she married, she had wanted to find love in her marriage and was determined to make Yuri fall in love with her. However, Yuri intended to ignore Eva from the beginning and refused to consummate their marriage content to satisfy his need at his BDSM Club. He had intended to ignore Eva, but over time found it increasingly difficult to ignore his beautiful Cuban temptress. I enjoyed reading this book, Eva was stronger than she looked and very determined when she set her mind to something. In the end, Eva has her way and Yuri gives Eva the marriage she always wanted but it was a painful journey for them both. I was shocked by the way Yuri's treated his wife but understood that he had only been cruel in a misguided attempt to be kind.

Dark Contract by Melody Adams is the story of Yuri and Eva. Theirs is an arranged, forced marriage….to protect another. But, he has major issues from his past and she is determined to love him.
This story is hard to review. Parts I liked. Most I didn’t. The character is majorly mean and rude…..not in the typical tough guy way. Then, for no apparent reason, he loves her? She loves him just because she should. He cries a lot. I tried hard to like this story, but it just didn’t do it for me. The bratva stuff seemed really off. Letting prisoners go for no real reason…torture for no real reason. I tried hard to like this story, but it just didn’t do it for me. I’ve read other stories by this author and thoroughly enjoyed them….but, this one, not so much.

Dark Contract is the second book in the Boston Bratva Doms series and tells the story of Yuri, boss of the Russian Bratva, and Eva, a Cuban cartel princess. Yuri has sworn off women after being betrayed by his ex-wife but reluctantly agrees to an arranged marriage to Eva with a view to forming an alliance with the Cuban cartel. He has no intention of abiding by his vows but Eva has other ideas!
This is well written, easy to read, extreme age gap, fast paced novella. The storyline is packed full of drama and suspense, twists and turns and plenty of RED HOT steam!
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella but, as in the previous book in this series, I would have liked the story to be longer to give the characters and storyline more depth, but it still an entertaining short read which I devoured in one sitting. Looking forward to the next instalment in this series!

A really intense story that sees a frozen heart slowly thaw against the wishes of its host. I really enjoyed the ebb and flow of this one but I found myself broken for Eva quite a lot after her treatment from Yuri. I understand Yuri's past pain and betrayal even his attempts to keep his new wife away but I wish he didn't hurt her so much. I found the ending to be bittersweet and I actually had tears in my eyes after the realization they went through. A mafia romance with all the emotion and all the feelings which will make you angry and sad in equal measure. A unique and powerful story that will stay in my mind after its shocking impact. This author is brilliant and has so much talent that I think we are looking at the master of the mafia romance genre.

Yuri swore off marriage after his ex wife's betrayle until an alliance is formed to save another he must marry the cartel princess Eva, though all he wants is a marriage in paper, Eva has other ideas. Eva had dreamed of marrying for love, but even knowing her fathers plans for arranging she still held out hope. But Yuri is far from what Eva expected, he's cold hearted, cruel and will do and say anything to keep her at a distance. Will Eva ever get her fairy tale love? Will Yuri open his cold heart to let in Eva's warmth? Or will it all be to late? Well written arranged marriage, mafia romance, with dark themes? Desires, despair, suspense, action, hot scenes and more!

Dark Contract (Boston Bratva Doms book 2) by Melody Adams. Yuri is doing the only he knows to keep Eva at arm’s length and in the process makes her question everything and hurts her in the process. Which is his goal, he only wants this marriage to be on paper and nothing else (no feelings) and doesn’t care what Eva wants. She is trying to make the best of it, but this is by far the hardest thing she has done. Dark and twisted drama and HOT dirty scenes. It is full surprises that kept me entertained. And I recommend this to others wanting to get swept away in a good dark romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book from Booksprout. After the death of his wife, Yuri, the head of the Boston Bratva promised himself never to marry again. Then his bestfriend came to him and needed his help. Now, in order to save his bestfriend's family, he has to marry his bestfriend's little sister Eva. Eva is way younger than Yuri but she always knew that as the Princess of the Cuban Cartel, her family would arrange her marriage for her. What she did not expect is to marry Yuri, who is coldhearted and closed off. Will she be able to reach her husband's heart before it's too late for both of them?
Yuri is head of the Boston mafia and does not want to remarry because his ex cheated on him but in order to strengthen his mafia family he marries a mafia princess half his age. Eva wanted to marry for love but she knew she has to do as her father wants so she decides to make the best of the situation and try to be a good wife to Yuri. Where she is mature and willing to make the best of their marriage Yuri is cruel to Eva telling her he will sleep with other women and never intends to make her his real wife but when her life gets threatened by another mafia he realizes that he loves her and will do anything to save her. Loved Eva but Yuri was a jerk throughout this book until the very end.
*** 3 1/2 Stars *** Dark Contract is the second book in the Boston Bratva Doms series. This story is a mix of different tropes - older man/younger woman, Mafia/Cartel, arranged marriage, and some other things sprinkled in. I found this book to be an entertaining read which is fast-paced and has a lot of sizzling chemistry. But I also found that I did not really connect with Yuri, the H, and the way he acted was just off. But I just went where Melody took the story and in the end it was an easy read.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This was so good, I just loved the brooding alpha who is so set against falling in love with an arranged marriage which helped keep the peace. He tries everything to ignore his new bride including showing up drunk to their wedding, skipping their reception, and then not consummating this marriage, he was a total jerk about 75% of the book, but he finally gets his head out of his butt and wished there was more… can’t wait for book 3.

I love this book! Yuri and Eva have a lot to overcome. Eva is young and is being contracted to marry Yuri. This is my type of romance. It takes a while to thaw out his heart because he had been betrayed before by the mother of his children. But she doesn’t give up! Strong female lead who does her best to work with the hand she was given. I can’t recommend this book enough to. Kindle readers are in for a treat!
I got the opportunity to read this book in advance; thank you Melody! Keep the drama coming!
The ways that Yuri was awful to Eva completely blew my mind. She is not only young, but very naive and sheltered. She definitely doesn’t expect the behavior he subjects her to from their literal beginning. I like his people telling him how wrong he is and trying to stand up for her. His wake-up call is pretty bad. But when he decides to make things right, he does his best. Definitely like this one, but avoid if you can’t handle anything listed in the trigger warning.

Yuri has an ice box where his heart use to be. When he finds himself in a situation where he has to marry the daughter of the Columbian cartel leader it's a bitter pill to swallow. His ex did a number on him and love is no longer a distraction he wants, but Eva stirs his soul like no woman ever has. He's cruel and unyielding to his new wife but she persists in her efforts to make this marriage work. Will Yuri realize that he loves hos wife too late for both if them?

Ivan is not interested in having another wife after his ex wife did a number on him with her betrayal. So Ivan end up taking out his insecurities on Eva, even though she is such a sweetheart of a person. Ivan realizes too late that he made a huge mistake. I loved the twist and turns in this book but, there are some triggers such as kidnapping and some violence. But in my opinion it is not too over the top.

This book is a dark romance between Yuri, a Bratva Pathan who swore not to remarry after his ex-wife betrayed him, and Eva, the princess of a Cuban Cartel who enters into an arranged marriage with Yuri at the request of her brother. They go into the marriage with differing goals with Eva desiring love and romance while Yuri wants them to live their separate lives. Who will win in the battle of wills?
