If Selina Kyle is going to break into the Batcave at her advanced age, she’s going to need a crew to help…and luckily for her, some of Gotham’s craftiest former villains have time on their hands and bills to pay. But who is the mysterious OGBeast? And with political pressure mounting, how long will Mayor Harvey Dent let this cat stay out of the big house?
Cliff Chiang is an American comic book artist. Formerly an assistant editor at DC Comics, he is now an illustrator, known for his work on Human Target, Beware the Creeper and Crisis Aftermath: The Spectre, Green Arrow/Black Canary, Wonder Woman and Paper Girls.
4.25 stars. Another awesome issue. Love the unorthodox team Selina has put together and Killer Croc steals the show again. Love the way he is portrayed in here. Highly recommended
It's really pretty cool to see these heroes and villains in older age and retirement. I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I do, but the reality of age, physical limitations, and the general nature of change challenges them and forces them to adjust as much as any foe would intervene.
I am loving this alternate timeline, aging Catwoman story. Beautiful artwork, great character work and such a love letter to everything the character has been for so many years, and so many different iterations.
I love it...completely in love with the way Catwoman is portrayed. The way her past costumes and appearances have been appreciated is amazing.I have been a catwoman fangirl since a child but this took the cake. The Art is Wonderful and totally beautiful 😍
I adored the CatBat flashback it was so spot-on and lovely...makes you want to see more of their interactions especially since I am die hard catbat shipper.
I love the sensitive, passionate ,lonely and softer side of Catwoman.I wish writers would indulge deeper into Catwoman's psyche and emotions and not just reduce her to a mewing woman in a catsuit who is just shallow thief and thrill seeker plus with lame puns...Catwoman's character can be so much, most writers don't know how to write her but Cliff knows how ,I wish he writes a younger Catwoman in his future works it would be amazing.
He has been successful in capturing the essence of Selina Kyle which I think most writers fail to do so....I only thing is Poison ivy was acting out of character but since this is a different timeline I guess it's okay.
This book just oozes devotion, attention, and love — it’s clear that Chiang has a deep affection and appreciation for the DCU that comes through in every page. And every page is full of interesting details and nods to various characters — the wardrobe is especially on point. The book is also developing some interesting themes about age, nostalgia, memory, etc and how these are leveraged for power in the present.
I don't think Lonely City is the end all be all of comics but damn if it isn't charming, fun, and a joy to view due to the art.
Salina is doing more heist now, bringing in more of a team, and having a blast doing so. I really like the character interactions and motivations behind a lot of them. Seeing a lot of criminals after their prime, settle down, is perfect. I wonder how this series will end though.
A great continuation of the Catwoman elsewhere story. In this one, Batman it is clear isn't letting Catwoman off the hook. Where they lovers? You wonder. Also, finally we get to see Catwoman in the outfit that Julie Newmar made famous. I love it and can't wait for the next issue.
i love the DC black label releases and i am so thankful to have gotten my paws on the lonely city series. its gorgeous. its intentional. as impressively impossible as it sounds, this story is unique in a realm where EVERYTHING has been done to death.
Selina Kyle, free at last after a ten year prison sentence. Gotham City has changed. Batman is dead. Two-Face is aptly casted as the corrupt mayor. Most of the OG super villains are incarcerated or in exile. Catwoman, an internet sensation? I dig the magazine style format.
The first two pages alone are heart-stopping, but damn if this is not tip-top work all around. I am incredibly invested in this and wish it was the main bat book.
Such a cool book. I love Cliff's version of the future for these characters. Especially Ivy! A content and joyful Ivy grabbing the hand of a middle aged and chilled out Nygma to go dance is so nice.

Book two of this series holds that same level of quality. Catwoman executes a heist for a Lantern Ring in order to infiltrate the Batcave and discover the secret of Orpheus (Batman’s final contingency and dying wish). I’ve always said we need a supervillain heist film in the cinematic hero genre.
Selena teams up with Croc, Winston, an old and wise Edward Nygma, his daughter Edie, and a mature (and thick) Poison Ivy. I love this smattering of rogues. They’re so fun and changed by life.
After the heist bore rotten fruit, the gang break into Ace Chemicals to steal some testing samples for Ivy. In return she gives her assistance and hospitality. She’s like a weed guru with an entire community she provides for.
Dent and Barbara duke it out in a mayoral debate, which Barb wins. Dent slowly inches closer and closer back towards Two Face energy as Catwoman slowly becomes a symbol of independence and rebellion amongst Gothamites. I really hope it keeps up this style of storytelling. So far it’s perfect.
